So in South Korea there is still quite a large stigma against people with HIV. Education for vulnerable populations is sorely lacking. Prep is very expensive and not covered by national health insurance. It is no wonder Yeong has not told anyone. Even to get some jobs and school scholarships, in S.Korea,requires a HIV blood test and if you are positive you will be discriminated against receiving them. So the friend’s reaction is understandable as a lot of ignorance (think the US like 20 years ago) around HiV is still prevalent in S.Korea🤷‍♀️ Because of this it makes Gyo ho’s reaction to Yeong so endearing as he is sad for him not upset for himself about not knowing Yeong’s HIV status❤️
