Korea's societal focus on physical appearance has unfortunately become an ingrained aspect of its culture. It's disheartening to see how much emphasis is placed on physical appearance there. Sadly, it seems that the pressure to conform to certain beauty standards has become deeply deep-seated. What's even more unsettling is that sometimes parents even offered their own children surgical procedures as rewards for academic success. That's how crazy it is. It's like a chilling indication of how intertwined appearance and self-worth have become. Fortunately, my parents were always so supportive and never told me to change but I can't imagine the pain someone with little self esteem must feel being offered something like that by their mother or father.
