in the original story, wubi's character's dad is a high ranking military officer who raised and trained his son like a soldier. he only got affections from his mother so he was really close to his mother and feels estranged to his father. i think they portrayed how strict his dad is in this series even though they changed his job to being a rich company owner. this is why he easily got attached to su yu's dad who easily compliments and speak affections for his own son.
