Over the last three months, we've been looking into a story that we know a lot of you really, really care about. We do too.

Following a series of explosive allegations surrounding the games studio ZA/UM and the possibility that Disco Elysium has been stolen from its original creators, we've jumped headfirst into making sense of it all for ourselves.

In this TWO AND A HALF HOUR DOCUMENTARY, you'll see us travel to Estonia to attend one of the court hearings in-person, interview both sides of the dispute and uncover a far more nuanced story than you'll likely be expecting.

This has been such an ambitious project for us to take on and we've been absolutely desperate to do right by it. And I know we say this a lot, but hand on heart, there's no way we could have even dreamed about tackling something like without your support. So if you're a new patron, or you've been here since the very beginning, thank you so much for backing us. This is the sort of work we've always hoped we could do.

The bad idea finally becoming a watchable video how the turns have changen

I could not imagine a better team to investigate this story. I have been curious about the truth behind the Za/UM firings, but there hasn't been an independent journalistic report on it so far that I know of. Will be watching with interest.

scandis

So excited about this. You rock.

Heiko

Wow, really looking forward to this!

Came straight here to sign up after seeing this on YT. Amazing work folks.

SparrowD

I haven't watched it yet, but I'm really glad to be a patreon supporter if the quality is up to the standard that PMG usually make. Looking forward to watching!

Outstanding as ever PMG!

Enjoyed your stuff for a while but decided to become a patron after watching this piece. Outstanding work. Disco Elysium is for me, like many others, an incredibly important piece of art and this video definitely changed my perspective on the whole situation. Solidarity with all the employees at ZA/UM and thanks for giving them the platform to tell a side of the story we hadn't heard before.

Bailey Blacklock

Upped my support not even halfway through this video. So glad you folks are out there investigating these stories, & making videos that are hard-hitting and getting into the nitty gritty while being easy to follow & engaging to watch. Incredible work!

Ross

How weird to see 2 of my main gaming YouTube channels collide ; I’m digging this

Tero Suoniemi

Brilliant reporting! Props especially for giving the employees their turn to speak up, and for an exhaustive look on the whole mess. Really enlightening (if also demoralizing, Disco having been such a cool game).

Justin

Absolutely amazing work by everyone involved, just a wildly good piece

James Kee

This is excellent reporting, especially in the face of such charged feelings and big personalities.

Iván León

Just suscribed to patreon because of this video. What an amazing piece of journalism.

Incredible look into the hell that game dev can be. I feel so sorry for so many people in this, having gone through similar situations.

Robyn S

So proud to be a Patreon, this is an amazing video. Kudos to you all!

Phegan

I have been a fan of your videos for a bit now, but finally subscribed. If my money goes towards creating more content of this quality, it is well worth it. Thank you for the content.

ChatN

You can tell this was a lot of work. Proud to support PMG.

This is exactly the sort of actual investigative journalism that this story needed and it was exactly what it wasn't recieving from every media outlet that covered it, basically just amplifying the press releases from both sides. I especially appreciate that instead of attempting to remain completely neutral and appear unbiased, Chris airs his thoughts and doubts throughout the investigation. This is exactly what I'm here for and I am so happy to see this sort of journalism being done by PMG.

Chris Hartman

I’ve never been proud to be a patron of something before, but I’m genuinely thrilled to say that I played my tiny part in making this happen.

Jordan Wood

Finally sat down to watch through it tonight. What can I say? Simply in awe of what you've accomplished here. Fantastic work ya'll.

So proud to be a Patreon, this is an amazing video. Kudos to you all!

Had a feeling it's gonna be good but it exceeded all my expectations. Peak investigative journalism. Truly amazing job, Chris and Annie!

Marcelo D. Viana Neto

Unbelievable work. I've a friend who worked at ZA/UM during some of the critical periods and they thought the doc was spot on. So happy PMG exists!

Mark Fajfar

Great job, and thought provoking because you let each side speak so that we could judge for ourselves. There are many lessons to be learned from this and I hope game creators (and everyone else) consider how these problems could have been minimized through better planning and cooperation.

Joe Mama

Amazing video! I wanted to also add for anyone interested that over on r/discoelysium there is a post from a month ago called "Sacred and Terrible Air: Full Professional Translation!" with a free pdf in english

Eric Leslie

That was a hell of a thing. Well done, folks.

After watching this on YouTube I decided to become a Patreon for the first time ever. Especially the last section when Robert „answered“ the questions of PMG. When I listened to what Robert „answered“ and then Chris verbalising exactly what I thought, I just had to support the channel. @Chris: Thanks for saying it so bluntly. I was split about buying the game on steam, but after this, I hit the buy button and support ZA/UM and the hard working staff there. Thank you for this through investigation.
