Help me choose a movie to watch next! I'm definitely excited to see which one wins!

Steve SG-1

Can we shove in Highlander (1986) in there or nah?

Miles E Coburn

I second "Highlander" (1986) (Director's Cut) as well as "Ladyhawke" (1985)

Patrick Egan

Several good choices on that list that I would love to watch your reaction to AND that I think you'd enjoy! But I have to restrict myself to just one vote, because that's how much The Dark Crystal means to me. It's my #2 all-time favorite movie(behind Casablanca), and deserves SO much more love than it gets. It is definitely Jim Henson's best work, and I'm saying that as a huge Muppet fan. Plus, "The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance" prequel series on Netflix is fantastic and also something I think you would enjoy. Don't get me wrong, I'll watch and likely enjoy your reaction to most of the choices in this poll, but I will ALWAYS evangelize for The Dark Crystal when given the chance to :)

Patrick Egan

2006 is old to you? That's sad.

Bryan Fritchie

Conan, Dark Crystal, Willow, Big, Secret of Nihm, Never-ending Story are all MUST watches.

Bryan Fritchie

It might as well wait on the next poll. Too many good choices in this one

Alex Tan

Happy Tuesday, Addie. All are great choices but my votes go for Conan The Barbarian (1982), The NeverEnding Story (1984), Labyrinth (1986) and Willow (1988). I also suggest Dragonslayer (1981) & DragonHeart (1996). #MoreFantasyMoviesForAddieCounts

Luis Fernandez

Solid list. I voted for several but I'll be happy with whatever wins.

Jon Anderson

Some solid choices on that list. There are a few I'd love to see, and if we do fantasy again, please let's have Time Bandits on the list.

Randee Carreno

Happy Tuesday, Addie! 😊 Fantastic 'fantasy' poll list. I'll be very happy with whichever movie wins. But I ended up throwing my vote in for "Labyrinth". Can't go wrong with Jennifer Connelly and David Bowie. Have a great day today! 😊

Doug

Kind of funny how many of these are from the '80s. 😄 Big is my favorite film in this list. 👍 I don't normally think of it as a fantasy movie, it's fantasy in the same way It's a Wonderful Life or Ted are. (P.S. Here's my vote for Ted on a future poll some day!) As far as other fantasy movies go that aren't on the poll, here are a few of possibilities for future consideration: Trollhunter (2010) Time Bandits (1981) Pleasantville (1998) Highlander (1986) South Park: Imaginationland (2008)

Alex Tan

Nice rhyming, Randee. Speaking of David Bowie, I also suggest The Hunger (1983), directed by Tony Scott, the director of Top Gun (1986). #TheHunger1983ForAddieCounts

Alex Tan

On an unrelated note, I do hope that we get another Western poll soon. One of my suggestions is Silverado (1985). #MoreWesternsForAddieCounts

Rileymetal

Conan The Barbarian is the best on this list by far.

REDR58

If “The NeverEnding Story” wins, I highly recommend you watch the US theatrical version as opposed to the the German extended edition. Cinebinge watched the latter and it was a whole thing. :)

zynjams

Willow should be running away with this pol

zynjams

Pans Labyrinth is a great movie that will give you nightmares for years

Ali D

I love so many of these but I can’t believe The Dark Crystal is so far behind.

Tina P

The NeverEnding Story 😍 Great movie, great book and even greater music.

Joe Blankenship

Can't believe Neverending Story isn't winning.

drew

hey addie after watchin labyrinth watch the dark crystal as well as teenage mutant ninja turtles 1990 movie

Joe Blankenship

I second the 1990 Ninja Turtles. I still love it as much as I did when I was a kid. It's a solid movie.

REDR58

The German edition I’m speaking of is in English, but it has notable changes from the American release that are kind of important to see I think. Limahl’s “NeverEnding Story” song, for example, is entirely missing from the German version and the German version has a few rather odd dubs of some of the non-human characters.

Sean

Big is great 80s fun.

Jacob King

Pan’s Labyrinth is the best of this bunch and I love a lot of them. I do feel the need to stick up for 90s fantasy, The Witches, Pleasantville, Dragonheart, Sleepy Hollow and Being John Malkovich to name a few.

Bacil Donovan Warren

I feel like Dragonheart is criminally underrated! That would make a good movie for Addie to react to, IMO.

Yann

Legend (1985) is missing from the list. (The theatrical cut is my personal favourite fantasy film.)

JBK405

There's a bunch of good movies on this poll, but "Pan's Labyrinth" is the best by a mile. I think it would be impossible to overhype just how good that film is. It is a MASTERPIECE.

Billy Dancel

I second a vote for Ladyhawke. It’ll give Addie a chance to see Matthew Broderick again.

Patrick Egan

Despite The Shape Of Water winning Best Picture at the Oscars, I still think Pan's Labyrinth is Guillermo Del Toro's best movie.

Patrick Egan

Yeah, that makes me sad. The Dark Crystal is such a beautiful movie.

Joseph Voigt

Pan's Labyrinth is a requirement, none of the others compare.

Yann

I think the Director's Cut of Blade Runner is definitely better but with Legend, Tangerine Dream's score is just so brilliant, it just transforms the film into something magical in a way that Goldsmith's didn't quite achieve.

JT

Willow is a everything you love with a hero to root for, m'lady!
