Here's the full length reaction to Big! I have absolutely loved Tom Hanks in every movie I've seen him in. Enjoy!

For everyone saying this isn't a fantasy movie, I hear ya (it's listed as Fantasy/Comedy when you google the movie, so I included it in that last poll). I'm planning on watching Pan's Labyrinth as well, and that reaction will be coming soon!

Happy Thursday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Big (1988). I plan on watching this movie on Disney+ soon.

Another Tom Hanks/Penny Marshall movie that I would definitely suggest to you is A League of Their Own (1992). #ALeagueOfTheirOwnForAddieCounts Speaking of Jared Rushton, who plays Billy, I also suggest Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989). #HoneyIShrunkTheKidsForAddieCounts Another movie with John Heard (RIP) that I would suggest to you is Cat People (1982), executive produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Paul Schrader. #CatPeople1982ForAddieCounts And another Elizabeth Perkins movie I'm also suggesting is The Flintstones (1994) with John Goodman as Fred Flintstone. #TheFlintstones1994ForAddieCounts

It's certainly a fantasy movie. So is Star Wars. It just depends on how fuzzy the line is around the definition you use.

Joe Blankenship

A wish granting machine sounds like fantasy to me.

Phil Stubblefield

"Shimmy shimmy, ko-ko bop!" (Not "cocoa pop"!) 😁

This movie is great if you don't think about it to much, in how technically and litterally some older woman, unknown to her, is dating a under age minor the whole time 😂

Mr. Writhms

No... She dated a full grown man who had the mentality of a child. This happens all the time. LOL

David Crabtree

This movie absolutely is a fantasy film.

Cliff Adams

My favorite Hanks' film is his directorial debut "That Thing You Do." He is a supporting actor in it.

In this case, it was literally a child in a man's body, it's actually different. Imagine a kid putting on a costume of a man for Halloween. Its a child that took the form of a man, but is still a literal child. your thinking makes it less creepy at least. This movie wouldnt work, and would be deemed inappropriate if the roles were reversed 100% 😂

Alex Tan

In case you're all wondering which version Addie is watching, she's watching the theatrical version that's 1h44m long.

LightsCameraJake

I didnt even know there was an extended version. Not on streaming as it is, so im glad Addie did theatrical lol

Alex Tan

Yes. She watched it on Disney+ which has only the theatrical version of the movie.

I love this film, it's such a great feel good comedy and Hanks really pulls off playing a kid so well. 😄 If you don't already have it on your list, Addie, and you're looking for another Tom Hanks / Penny Marshall film, check out A League of Their Own some time, it's really great too!

Mr. Writhms

Actually there is a movie with Jennifer Garner called "13 Going On 30" (2004) with the same premise and the roles reversed. There was a bit more raunchy behavior in that movie. In her case, she took over the body of an already existing woman. So she already had guys trying to go to bed with her, not knowing she was 13 inside. Yikes! I don’t remember any backlash when it came out though. Check out the trailer.

Okay, having now watched your reaction... Fantastic! I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! I'm also pleased that you got the "creepiness" factor of an adult woman in a relationship with a teenage boy; some reactors completely miss that, but... yuck! However, sailing right past that issue, this is such a charming film! Tom Hanks is his typical wonderful self, and Elizabeth Perkins has such a nice character arc as she learns that being a healthy adult includes not losing a child-like sense of playfulness and wonder. Plus, you were almost moved to tears by the most iconic scene: the human-sized keyboard in FAO Schwarz! For some reason, that scene is just so magical! 😊

Phil Stubblefield

I love "13 Going On 30"! However, the difference between that story and "Big" is that even though former Jenna's boyfriend keeps hitting on her, newly adult Jenna is not having any of it. The only man with whom she has any kind of relationship is the grown up version of the same boy who was her best friend as a teenager, and there is no creepiness involved.

Phil Stubblefield

I second this recommendation! Addie, as someone who's been a musical performer, you would love this film!

Ian Forbes

Such a great film, I recommend this too!

The Dingo

Byrd - You are describing high fantasy; this movie can bee seen as low fantasy.
