Let's watch a comedy!

Happy Tuesday, Addie. All are great choices but my votes to to The Blues Brothers (1980), Bruce Almighty (2003) and Napoleon Dynamite (2004). And you have a new mission from God. You must watch the Unrated version of The Blues Brothers (1980), should it win this poll. #TheBluesBrothersExtendedVersionForAddieCounts

skz

Lot of other comedies I'd suggest but out of this list Bruce Almighty for sure, not interested in any of the others.

QuiGon_Jim

I will never not vote for 'The Naked Gun'.

The Dingo

My cousin Vinny is a modern classic!!! Hilarious, intelligently written, and tugs at the heart strings! And Marisa Tomei won an Oscar for her performance!

Randee Carreno

Happy Tuesday, Addie! 😊 All fantastic choices for this poll. "My Cousin Vinny" easily got my vote. With "The Blues Brothers" as a close second. Have a great day today! 😊

Tom W.

The blues brothers. That's the easiest vote in history.

KingGoji94

Naked gun trilogy is awesome!

Stephen Fairley

My Cousin Vinny is an outstanding movie. It's a must see.

Alex Tan

She has. It's featured on her Letterboxd account.

sarCC

Oh, wow...The Naked Gun and My Cousin Vinny are two of the most unique and very best comedies ever made. I hope you watch both!

Mike Adams

I get the feeling that Addie would get a kick out of Legend with Tom Cruise.

DM DC

I love Legend, that movie is so great!

Alex Tan

Our mission from God is to get Addie to watch the Extended Version of The Blues Brothers (1980). #TheBluesBrothersExtendedVersionForAddieCounts

DM DC

Great selection, some really good films here. My Cousin Vinny, however is definitely my top vote. Love this film.

Doug

Ooh, some really good comedies on this poll! The Blues Brothers, The Naked Gun, and My Cousin Vinny are some of my favorite comedies of all time. 😄 Bruce Almighty is also up there. Personally I'm down to rewatch any of those four. On a tangent, just a suggestion for a future comedy, it didn't look like you've seen Ted yet (at least I didn't see it in the search here or Letterbox.) Ted's hilarious, definitely worth putting on a future poll! ... Or now that I think about it, a poll with "movies starring dolls" would be kind of funny since there's a bunch of decent ones that aren't on the channel 🙂: - Ted - M3GAN - Barbie - Toy Story (I think Addie saw this off channel though? 🤷‍♂️) - Lars and the Real Girl

BubblyRainbows

I'd like to see a reaction to "Flash Gordon" before some of your suggestions. It may be old and cheesy, but it's cheesy in the best way and very few people react to it.

zynjams

How about all of them

BubblyRainbows

Please no! Don't get me wrong, it's great, but I don't have access to the extended version! How many viewers will?

Wolverine

I finally saw the Blues Brothers and I was thoroughly disappointed

QuiGon_Jim

Nobody "needs" to watch 'Flash Gordon' before 'Ted'. It's perfectly explained enough to understand the bit.

Phil Stubblefield
>>143150095

Wait, what?!? 🤔 What specifically disappointed you? The movie is certainly silly in the classic "Saturday Night Live" style, but that soundtrack is one of the top three of all time! James Brown, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Cab Calloway, and some *killer* R&B and blues!

Phil Stubblefield

I did vote for The Blues Brothers (among others), but given the centrality of the music to the story, it would be a difficult edit for Addie to get by the YouTube censorship bots... 😟

Wolverine
>>143150095

I guess it had been so built up by people who love it that I was expecting more. Maybe it’s like Paris Syndrome

Wolverine
>>143147845

Yea but that should be on a poll of 80’s fantasy movies along with Willow, Krull, Conan the Barbarian, Neverending Story, The Dark Crystal, Labyrinth, and Return to Oz

Philip Davetas
>>143150095

I think CADDYSHACK was highly regarded at one point. I saw it much later in life and I was kind of disappointed. THE BLUES BROTHERS was one of those movies that I kept putting off as a kid and one day I saw it on TV and it was okay. Lots of chaos more than it was funny. I forgot which movies you reacted to, but it seems there could have been fuller choices. Those Adam McKay movies are pretty funny.

Strangelove50

For old time classic satire that is relevant with all that is going on today, you should have included Dr. Strangelove (1964) on the list; hope you will consider that one in the future! Among those listed, my top pick would be The Blues Brothers.

Byrd N. Hand

Eh, plenty of reactors have gotten it through over on YT. As long as Addie exercises as much caution as she did on "Team America," she should hopefully be OK.

Byrd N. Hand
>>143147845

Granted, she's already reacted to "Labyrinth" (the winner of her first fantasy poll), and she's apparently seen "Return to Oz," according to her Lettboxd.

Byrd N. Hand
>>143164645

Yes, I'd love for Addie to do a Kubrick poll... even if the eventual winner(s) will inevitably be "Dr. Strangelove," "2001," "A Clockwork Orange," and/or "Full Metal Jacket" (she's already reacted to "The Shining," of course).

Byrd N. Hand
>>143149107

Yes, she's already seen all 4 "Toy Story" movies. According to her Letterboxd, she only Pixar movies she has yet to see are "Brave," "Monsters University," "The Good Dinosaur," "Cars 3," "Elemental," and the recently-released "Inside Out 2."

Mr. Writhms

The Blues Bros are in 4th place. It's not happening anyway. Oh well... 🙁

Meliv

Seeing you add Talladega Night reminded me that you need to watch Rush. Especially as you enjoyed Ford v Ferrari. Incredible movie

The Dingo
>>143150095

Caddyshack and Blues Brothers were emblematic of the times they were made, and so they don't hold up well to present day (at least that is my perception of them)

Doug

I can't speak to the others but I really liked Elemental. 🙂

Doug

Another Kubrick movie would be fun. Of the ones you mentioned A Clockwork Orange is my favorite, although parts of it are pretty disturbing so I'm not sure how well it would click with Addie. 2001 would be a solid fit for the channel though! Full Metal Jacket would be a good pick for a future war movie poll as well (I just rewatched that recently and it was fun seeing a very young Vincent D'Onofrio (who today's MCU fans would recognize as The Kingpin) playing the much trod upon Private Leonard aka "Pyle".

Doug
>>143150095

Yeah, I really liked The Blues Brothers but I wouldn't be shocked if parts of it feel a bit dated. And for sure its soundtrack elevates it, the music is fantastic! I think without that it would have been less memorable. I never got the hype for Caddyshack personally, I thought it was "ok", I'd probably put it at slightly better than Police Academy or Revenge of the Nerds but not as funny as National Lampoon's Vacation? 🤷‍♂️

Bill Rudd

I would have voted Blues Brothers but didn't because I'm afraid it will get in trouble with the YouTube copyright claims since it's a musical

Simone's Coconut Squire

Besides being hilarious, apparently My Cousin Vinny is regularly recognized by lawyers for it's realism and accuracy in portraying the court system and procedures.

Andre Agog

I just have to say that any musicial-loving theatre kid would love The Blues Brothers

Alex Tan

Maybe next time.

Strangelove50

Yes, those are both great, as well; Full Metal Jacket has been reacted to by most other channels like this (I watched some of them, but has been a long time since I saw the entire movie); surprisingly few have reacted to A Clockwork Orange; I just watched that recently. Addie (and all the good movie reaction channels) should conduct a poll of great movies that have not been reacted to on any channel yet, for which she should choose and be the first.

Byrd N. Hand

It seems to me that "Caddyshack" is becoming the new "Blade Runner."🤔
