I’m new here, how do we get movies onto this poll? Does Addie choose them? Or we do? How does that work?

Alex Tan

Happy Thursday, Addie. All of these war movies are great choices but my votes go for Full Metal Jacket (1987), Fury (2014) & Dunkirk (2017). EDIT: For a future war movie poll, I also suggest Pearl Harbor (2001). #MoreWarMoviesForAddieCounts

QuiGon_Jim

Apocalypse Now is a film that everyone should experience at least once. Incredible film

Randee Carreno

Happy Thursday, Addie! 😊 Another great poll for this week. I ended up going with "Apocalypse Now" for this one. I haven't watched that one in a long time. Have a great day today! 😊

Pendragon1951

I think it may depend on what tier you are to be able to suggest a movie?

Andre Agog

Wow that's an atypical selection. I have to go for Apocalypse Now. But I'll said it before, and I'll say it again: the best American war movie is The Big Red One, with Mark Hamill and Lee Marvin.

Lee R.

Big Red One is a classic!!! Haven't watched it in forever

Byrd N. Hand

"The Big Red 'One'" is indeed criminally underrated. It's probably my favorite WWII film, at the very least.

Luis Fernandez

Voting for Fury. It is one of those movies that I've been meaning to watch but have never gotten around to it, so watching it with the channel would be fun.

Alex Tan

Tier 3 for the Wheel of Addie.

Alex Tan

She has a recommendation list, so she'll be able to see all suggestions. The movies that are on her polls are the ones that get suggested the most. If your in Tier 3, you can suggest one movie on the Wheel of Addie.

Baldemort

Im gonna make people mad by saying this and I dont care: How are these other amazing films doing so bad, There is literally top tier films In this poll. All Quiet is literally cinematic and story driven ART for example. Full metal jacket is actual guarbage in comparison to all these other films Yet it wins every poll its in in every community. Have some depth in your film choices people. It may be more than a year now before any of these actual great and respectful representations of war get seen by addie. I voted for every film but FMJ. What a sad poll that these amazing films are going to waste because yall wanna vote for trash. These top tier award winning films have been requested since addie started her channel and even Dunkirk and we were soldiers is getting squashed. Makes it make sense. Anyways, rant over. (I'm not actually mad but it is annoying) 😂😂😂

"We Were Soldiers" is probably the most conventional title on here. And while it's about the Vietnam War (still the only un-cynical film about that war that I've seen), it almost feels more like a WWII film. 🤔 Personally, I've been wanting Addie to delve back into Stanley Kubrick for a while now, so I'm fine with the results as they currently are. (For the record, "Apocalypse Now" is my favorite title on here.)

Baldemort

I agree any film that's not FMJ is worth watching from this poll. As somebody who has requested these movies and seen other people request especially Dunkirk since addie started her channel. I wish she would of make it a point to watch it instead of waste it on a poll. Too many reactors rely too heavily on polls instead of react to movies based in community sentiment and it just leaves people dissappinted lol

Phil Stubblefield

I third this motion! I enjoy a number of these movies, but FMJ would be my *last* choice. I too get a bit tired of the echo chamber effect that often pops up on Patreon and YouTube polls.

Phil Stubblefield

Lee wrote: "Big Red One is a classic!!! Haven't watched it in forever" My feelings exactly!

Phil Stubblefield

No spoilers, but Fury has both good and bad for me. I don't particularly enjoy the tone, but as someone who loved tanks since I was a boy, I love some of the details (most of which are *mostly* correct), especially the brilliantly rendered Tiger I!

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

Lots of good choices in terms of actually well made films. Also, as with most polls I found this one easy to predict who will win. Having said that, FMJ is an outstanding film so fine w it winning, although this is one of those instances where I'd enjoy a film winning that doesn't typically get reacted to but I'm always going to lose that battle.

John A

Shamelessly plugging the movies I'm dying to see reacted to: Super (2010), Hardball (Keanu), Signs and The Village (m knight), Chappie, The Room, Midnight Run, Overboard (1987), Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Eastbound and Down (Danny Mcbride show), The Sweetest Thing (2002, unrated version), Jackie Brown, Cop Land, The Replacements, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Kindergarten Cop, Far and Away. And The Santa Clause if you somehow haven't seen it. The list goes on and on really but I'll stops there

Kyle Brandon Sanger

What a fantastic selection! I almost couldn't decide! It was between 'Apocalypse Now!', 'Fury', and 'Dunkirk'. 'Apocalypse Now!' What a masterpiece! A film that took nearly three years to make and the notorious production period that took place is almost unbelievable.

Doug

My favorites are 1917, Full Metal Jacket, and Apocalypse Now. (I’m a little surprised 1917 hasn’t gotten more votes, that film is a cinematic masterpiece!)

John A

You're sooooooooooooooooooo different we're all SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO impressed

Baldemort

To clarify. FMJ isn't a bad movie but compared to whats on the poll, it's the last thing I'd vote for. I hope addie don't write these movies off and keeps them on her list. Sometimes you need to sift through the trash to find the gold. FMJ is only winning simply because its a trendy film among the Gen X audience which I think makes up for most of Addies viewership here on patreon. So a lot of newer films will always go under the radar, hense why I think its important NOT to rely heavily on polls.

Michael Saville

FMJ should come with a disclaimer “this movie is not for the sensitive ones”

Alex Tan

Full Metal Jacket (1987) is going to be Addie's second Stanley Kubrick movie after The Shining (1980), which scarred her, back in October 2022.

Jeff I.

Agreed. Full Metal Jacket is good, but I'd prefer any of the other movies on this poll over it (except for We Were Soldiers).

Tenn Seven

The dead know only one thing: it is better to be alive.

Mr. Writhms

It wished Addie had seen “Apocalypse Now” before watching “War for the Planet of the Apes” so she could appreciate Woody Harrelson’s homage to Marlon Brando’s portrayal of Colonel Kurtz. Sadly it's in 4th place right now.

zynjams

the nightmare movie theme.

BubblyRainbows

Has Addie reacted to "Platoon"? I didn't think so, but its absence here is hard to miss. My vote goes to "1917" just because I haven't seen it. The rest of these are, in my opinion, the bottom of the barrel for war movies. I don't think I've liked anything Kubrick has ever done. His movies just aren't for me. (I recall his name coming up at the end of one and me being surprised I liked it, but I can't remember what movie that could have been), so I personally am not happy that "Full Metal Jacket" is winning, but I'm happy for all of the fans of the movie who'll get to see Addie react to it. I need to go search for "Platoon" on the channel. If Addie has reacted to it, I definitely didn't see it. Hope you're all having a good day!

LaserLamb

A recommendation list? Do we have access to this list, or is it just a list she makes from our suggestions in the comments?

LaserLamb

@John A Dude, if you don't have something constructive to say, don't say anything.

LaserLamb

If Addie sees a Kubrick war film, I want it to be "Dr. Strangelove"!

LaserLamb

WHY is Apocalypse Now so far behind FMJ??!!

Byrd N. Hand
>>147921632

To be fair, Addie *did* start the Rocky/Creed series of her own accord; it never won a poll. And I believe "GoodFellas," "Point Break," and "Dune" were also 'executive decision' watches for her, as was the "Tron" duology... so she's not *totally* beholden to polls. But, yes, it would be nice if, in addition to her monthly wheel picks, she'd also just go ahead and watch her most requested title at that time once a month as well (I don't know if she numerically keeps track of how many times a movie is requested; I know Popcorn in Bed and Jen Murray both have their own websites for this 🤔).

Byrd N. Hand
>>147967780

No, she hasn't seen "Platoon." I guess it hasn't been as heavily requested as these.

Byrd N. Hand
>>147940874

I certainly hope it'll lead to more Kubrick reactions from her. Of course, reactors only literally ever react to 5 of his films: "Full Metal Jacket," "The Shining," "A Clockwork Orange," "2001: A Space Odyssey," and "Dr. Strangelove." I know his first 2 films ("Fear and Desire" and "Killer's Kiss") are probably too obscure, but "The Killing," "Paths of Glory," "Spartacus," "Lolita," "Barry Lyndon," and "Eyes Wide Shut" are *not.* 🤷‍♂️

Alex Tan

^^^ Dunkirk (2017) is a movie that I've been suggesting to Addie ever since I joined her Patreon in July 2022. Even that movie lost on the Wheel of Addie in her last two Q&As. But I can tell why FMJ is winning.

Alex Tan

She reads out comments.

Glen Krajca-Radcliffe

Shameless plug for My Favorite Year with Peter O’Toole and Mark Lin Baker.

Guillaume Huet_rennibou

FMJ! Another Stanley Kubrick movie! I remember you loved the Shining^^ It's not the same style though. Iconic in another way.

L.Knight

FULL METAL 🧥 😁Pleeeeeeeeeeeeze!!!😁

Strangelove50

Dr. Strangelove- I guess you could call it a different style of war film; a classic, nonetheless. Most of those listed are good movies, but have so many reactions already.

Wolverine

Really you should watch all of these
