Here's the full length reaction to Casablanca! I'm so glad I've finally watched this classic. Obviously I know his name, but I believe this is the first film I've seen Humphrey Bogart in! Enjoy!

Here's looking at you, Addie. Happy Wednesday. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Casablanca (1942). This is the QUINTESSENTIAL Warner Bros. movie of all-time. The Great Movie Ride, which used to be in the Chinese Theater at Walt Disney World's Hollywood Studios is where I first discovered this movie. I just watched it on DVD, on Sunday night, and I enjoyed it. This is also the first Humphrey Bogart movie I've seen as well. BTW, you're on a roll with two back-to-back Best Picture Oscar-winning movies this week. And it's also the OLDEST movie you've ever seen, since It's A Wonderful Life (1946). See you on Friday for your Patreon Exclusive rewatch reaction to Easy A (2010).

Here's looking at you kid.

Addie, I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. 😉

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 This is such a great film. There's so many great Humphrey Bogart classics that you should definitely check out at some point. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Ugarte is played by Peter Lorre. He's worthy of a deeper dive... he did some great films. Renault instructs to "round up he usual suspects". You don't have to, Addie, because you watched that movie not too long ago (that's where the title came from).

Yay! Just seeing this post made me feel so happy! Definitely watching this tonight! As far as other Bogart films, you'll love the original SABRINA. THE TREASURE OF SIERRA MADRE is one of his bests, as is MALTESE FALCON which is also one of the very best detective movies ever made. Ingrid Bergman is great in 2 Hitchcock movies: SPELLBOUND and NOTORIOUS(which also stars Claude Rains["Louis"]).

It's been a while since I watched this one and it still holds up really well, it's the definition of a timeless classic. 👍

You have to understand how special this movie is. It was directed at the beginning of WWII when Jews were already being murdered in Germany and many people were fleeing at the height of Hitler's terror. Some of the cast of this movie fled occupied France before Hitler arrived to kill them. One of them was the actress who played Yvonne, named Madeleine LeBeau. In the movie she is only 20 or 21 years old. When they sang the french national anthem La Marseillaise, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOeFhSzoTuc&t=7s, and you saw emotions and tears, that was not acting. That was real for people who fled the tyranny of Hitler. Everytime I watch this movie and see the tears at that national anthem I start to cry, knowing how real those emotions were for them.

Yes, this movie has tons of famous quotes: "Round up the usual suspects." "We'll always have Paris." "Here's looking at you, kid." "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walked into mine." Also "Play it again, Sam," one of the more famous misquoted lines in movie history. Peter Lorre also has probably one of the more mimicked voices of any movie actor ever -- mainly in cartoons, and probably most notably in the form of Boo Berry from the monster cereal commercials.

"The Maltese Falcon," "To Have and Have Not," "The Big Sleep," "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre," "Key Largo," and "The African Queen" are probably his other most famous movies.

Seeing a few other reactions to this amazing movie brought back memories of how incredible the story was. Just a masterpiece This gave me a great question to ask you for your next A M A Take care, Add-E

I just watched this reaction, and it was excellent! I hadn't seen the entire film in a long time, and I had forgotten just how truly masterful it is! One thing I'll tease you about, Addie: The first time Rick said, "Here's looking at you, kid," you asked, "Do people quote this movie? That line?" Later you affirmed that you had probably heard it many times without realizing its source. And @Byrd N. Hand has already listed the *many* quotes from this film that have been repeated often over the decades. It's actually one of the more (mis)quoted films in cinema history, but it's old enough that many people don't know the origin of the quotes. Also, @Lana Gorgeous already relayed the story that many of the actors had actually fled from the German occupation, so the emotions displayed in the sing-off were very real! Altogether, a fantastic experience! Thanks, Addie!

Glad to see you finally watch another pre-'60s movie. I hope you also plan to watch "Rain Man," given it was leading in the poll early on... and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" as well, though I suppose I shouldn't hold my breath on that one.

This is one of my favorites! Bogart is just... the best

zynjams

another great oldie is The Best Years of our Lives. about returning servicemen after WW2. filmed in 1947. winner of 9 academy awards

Same for me. I've probably watched Casablanca with more Patreons than any other movie. Once I see that some reactor has seen Casablanca, I just have to see the full reaction! 🤣 Not sure how long I will stick around here, but seeing this reaction is certainly worth it, because this is one of the best I have seen. Addie "got" this movie more than the usual reactor does. This is a fantastic reaction, this movie never fails to capture one's heart.

The Roaring Twenties, although it's actually a Cagney film
