I’ve been waiting since season 1 episode 1 for non-gamers to react to this episode. They did a brilliant job production wise. Also, it included some changes not in the game like the attack on Jackson was all new and they changed who was paired up on patrols together (Dina/Ellie & Tommy/Joel, Jesse riding solo in the game). Heartbreakingly terrific performances by all the actors in this episode.

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 Here we go!!!! I didn't play either of the games. But I did know of THAT particular moment in the second one. And I knew we would be getting to it this season. I was hoping that it would end up being in episode 3. No spoilers for those who haven't seen this episode yet. But I will give a HUGE round of applause to all of the actors in that scene. I'll definitely be re-watching this episode reaction later this evening with another box of tissues on hand. Have a great day today! 😊

I have seen Kaitlyn Dever, Abby, in only one other film. I'm sure she has had some good movies. If she knew about the character previously I stand beside her in her decision of accepting. And I will be damned if I come across any posts anywhere speaking harshly about her personally without sharing my backlash. Recap, I never played TLOU at all so I wasn't aware of Joel's fate. That and this episode seems like an end to the story. I guess not, since it's only ep 2. It's so tough to accept that he's gone (sidenote) Something that you may be interested in is if you check out the merchandise from The Reel Rejects is they have a shirt with Joel on it but instead of Ellie with him he's holding Grogu

I forgot to mention that the strange/unsettling thing for me in this episode was that I heard a song during Easter service that shared some similar lines at the end of the episode. it was also sung by Ashely Johsnon who did the voice acting of Ellie in the game.

Happy Monday, Addie. Another episode in the can. That's all I have to say here.

Btw… no “They have the high ground” mentions?!

Steve SG-1

I don't have a lot to say other than if it makes you feel any better Addie it was more gruesome in the game.🤷‍♂

Joe Blankenship

Damn. Wasn't expecting that so soon. I'm guessing we'll see Pedro in flashbacks of the last 5 years. Damn. That was brutal. And where the hell are all these infected coming from?!! I thought they didn't like cold climates. And also, how long can they survive until they starve??

I was all good no tears until I heard Ashley Johnson (Voices Ellie in the game) singing "Through the Valley " at the end and then the tears was rolling the perfect song for this episode

Mister Lou

I'm right here with you, I'm gonna need this week to grieve. I'm very curious as to where the story is going.. I obviously haven't played the game so idk what's coming.

Having played the game, I was very surprised that they followed through on Joel's fate the same way, like it was in the beginning of the game (The Last of Us Part 2). A lot of people did not want to play the game any further and were outraged. There were even death threats to the game creator and the voice actor of Abby. You even play as Abby in the game at certain points, which pissed some people off. But I must say, they did a phenomenal job at recreating the events in the game, even as far as some of the same camera shots. All I needed was a controller in my hand. Do NOT give up on the story. If the rest of the season is anything like the game, you are in for a hell of a ride.

I've owned the games but I played only a little bit of the first. I quit playing early on because it's not my preferred way to game, but I knew what was going to happen and what's about to happen. Too many pods and IGN discussions spoiled everything when the games were out. But this is probably the last season unless they try to build a part three after this point that goes beyond the games.
