Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 I've only seen bits and pieces of this movie. So, for the most part it's going to be a first time watch for me as well. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. I hope that you have a great day today! 😊

*EDIT* Happy Monday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Dunkirk (2017). This is my ALL-TIME favorite Warner Bros. Pictures movie and my all-time favorite Christopher Nolan movie, alongside Oppenheimer (2023). But THAT could change when The Odyssey (2016) comes out, next year. I even enjoyed seeing it in IMAX 70mm, at the Regal Mall of Georgia, with my dad, when it first came out. It was awesome, well done & SO FREAKING INTENSE on SO MANY LEVELS, and I loved it. One such example was during the scene where they were hiding in a fishing yacht. A teenage girl, who was one row above me, covered her ears because of the loud sounds of the gunshots. Even Hans Zimmer's powerfully ominous soundtrack, which is my all-time favorite of his, thanks to a Shepard's tone, helped make this war movie intense. The song "Supermarine", from the film's soundtrack, proves this. It's an 8-minute-long anxiety attack which only gets worse at the last 2.5 minutes. If you listen to the whole song with your headphones on for maximum effect, you'll know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. https://youtu.be/n1VJ39nVIBk?feature=shared I even own this movie on IMAX Blu-ray as well.

Addie, if you see this. The Accountant 2 is out on Digitial. Saw it twice in theatres, you'll love it. ❤️

'Dunkirk' is a triumph and along with 2014's 'Fury' and this year's 'Warfare', its one of the best war films in recent memory. The film is as accurate as it can and Nolan made it a point to actual film on location in Dunkirk. Also, I love the Spitfire, its my favorite plane.

Very good movie. 👍 Honestly I don't think there's a Christopher Nolan directed movie I haven't like, he's terrific. And like a bunch of other Nolan films he really loves messing around with how the narrative flow of time is handled: - Dunkirk: Three stories told at different rates that end at the same point - Memento: Tells the story in reverse order - Interstellar and Inception: Both mess around with slowing the passage of time depending on the frame of reference. - Oppenheimer: Tells Oppenheimer's story by hopping around back and forth between past and later events in his life. - Tenet: The story is told as a palindrome in time. P.S. And looking over that list I think Tenet is the only one Addie hasn't seen yet. Hopefully she'll get around to it some time, it's pretty good (if you can follow what's going on! 😄 )

She hasn't seen "Memento," either. Either that or "Tenet" will likely be her next Nolan reaction. While it's been ages since I've seen it, I think his debut, "Following," also plays a bit with time, but I can't remember for sure. And "Insomnia" doesn't play with time at all, but no one reacts to it, for whatever reason. 🤷‍♂️

Huh, I could have sworn Addie watched Memento, kind of ironic I had a false memory there. 😄 Yeah I’d watch that next on the Nolan lost for sure, it’s great! P.S. Yeah, I didn’t include Insomnia because he didn’t play around with time in that one, possibly because it’s a remake of a foreign film. 🤷‍♂️ He also didn’t do anything weird with the narrative in the Batman movies.

I know I’m a little late on this but Mark Rylance’s character (the captain of the Moonstone) was inspired by Charles Lightoller, who was the second officer on the RMS Titanic. When the Titanic was sinking he was trapped below decks and nearly drowned, but just before he lost consciousness an explosion blew him out of the ship and he was able to swim to the surface and be rescued by a lifeboat. Thirty years later at Dunkirk he took his personal boat and rescued 127 British servicemen. I don’t like to tell people what to believe when it comes to religion but if that isn’t a case of divine intervention then I don’t know what is.
