Happy Monday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Man on Fire (2004) in 16:9 open matte. This is one of my favorite Tony Scott movies and is one of my all-time favorite movies that starred Dakota Fanning. The element of Creasy being a father figure to Pita was very sweet. And Creasy sacrificing himself to allow Pita to escape with her mother was heartbreaking.

Speaking of Denzel Washington & Tony Scott, I also suggest Deja Vu (2006) (produced by Jerry Bruckheimer), The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3 (2009), and Unstoppable (2010). #MoreDenzelWashingtonAndTonyScottForAddieCounts

Chris

Denzel is one of my favorites! 🙌

Nice! Looking forward to watching your reaction Addie!

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 It's been awhile since I've seen this movie. And I do remember bits and pieces of it. Definitely looking forward to watching this one later this evening. For more Dakota Fanning, I very highly recommend the 2005 "Dreamer". Have a great day today! 😊

Addie, im thinking about this, but i don't think there is a single Danzel movie that is actually horrible. I mean you could argue Gladiator 2, but hes only a support role in that, but nothing that he leads in at least that ive seen.

PHILLIP CORNISH

If you can check out the alternate ending it's well worth a watch.

When Addie said "I hope Pita isn't mad he let the bird loose", I got confused because I forgot the girl's name was Pita and what I heard was "I hope PETA isn't mad he let the bird loose." And I was thinking "Well, that's true, PETA does say you shouldn't let your pet bird loose into the wild, it's really dangerous for them!" 😄

Is just so happens, Denzel Washington was Tony Scott’s go-to actor, like a few big name directors have a favorite actor to work with (Deniro/Scorsese, Schwarzenegger/Cameron, Samuel L./Tarantino, etc.). Denzel is in 5 Tony Scott movies: Crimson Tide Man on Fire Déjà vu The Taking of Pelham 123 (remake) Unstoppable Mr. Washington was also in 5 Spike Lee movies, including the new Kurosawa remake he has coming out called "High and Low". His role in Spike Lee's "Malcolm X" was one of his most powerful.

Out of curiosity I had a look and, I haven't seen it, but his worst two on Rotten Tomatoes are Heart Condition (10%) starring him and Bob Hoskins, and John Q (another I haven't seen) at 26%. And he does have a bunch of other movies under 50%. Now that said, I notice Book of Eli is 46%, which I liked a lot more than that! So different strokes I guess. 🤷‍♂️

“Creasys art is death and he’s about to paint his masterpiece.” Best line ever

Mr. Writhms

Doug: Check the audience scores on those movies. "John Q" is 78%. "The Book of Eli" is 64%. Ok, "Heart Beat" was pretty corny. 😂 Even "Man on Fire" got a CRITICS score of 38% yet the audience score is 89%. I don't trust critics scores. Many of them have personal agendas or something to prove.

Good similar movies: "Ransom" (1995) - Mel Gibson, Renee Russo, Gary Sinise "Harry Brown" (2009) - Michael Caine "Eastern Promises" (2007) - Viggo Mortensen "The November Man" (2014) - Pierce Brosnan "Death Wish" (1974 original version) - Charles Bronson, Jeff Goldblum "Wrath of Man" (2021) - Jason Statham "Pain & Gain" (2013) - Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, Anthony Mackey, Tony Shalhoub, Ed Harris. Directed by Michael Bay

I think Addie would like the series "Reacher" (3 seasons, 24 episodes total)

Alex Tan

Ransom came out in 1996.
