Happy Monday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Superman (2025). My girlfriend & I saw this movie in IMAX 1.90:1 and we both enjoyed it. This is my favorite superhero movie that came out this year and James Gunn really cooks with this one. Superman's monologue when confronting Lex Luthor really resonates well now more than ever. Can't wait to watch it again when I get my Blu-ray copy in September.

Randee Carreno

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 I've been really looking forward to this new "Superman" movie. There's a few names in the cast that I recognize. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Rich

I'm really looking forward to the New DCU with James Gunn in charge. Peacemaker season 2 comes out Thursday and is also in the DCU.

Mr. Mike's Multiverse

Glad you loved this one, Addie. I've heard good and bad reviews from people who have seen it, but this is one I will be skipping. Call it Superman fatigue. If I never see Superman or Batman in a movie or streaming series ever again I won't care. The same goes for Spider-Man. lol

Aldo Gonzales

She hasn’t seen the first season yet though, and there’s also Creature Commandos.

Randolph Tirazona

I bought the comics in the 60's, watched the Series and Cartoons, then saw Christopher Reeves' Superman! 🦸‍♂️ Now ya gonna make me watch all these other ones!

Kawaii Leonard

Lots of people have been praising this and I watched this over the weekend and....it's ok to good. Not something I would watch again. I can only say the 1st 2 Nolan Batman's are rewatch worthy in the super hero genre. Just not my genre. Nice to see Milly Alcock(Supergirl) again, though.

Billy Dancel

I will be re-watching this later and commenting a bit more but for now, you telling Jimmy to "Take one for the team" is my favorite line!

Jasbro

Sadly this is still not available in the UK, our Prime only has it on preorder with no confirmed release date. I did see this at the cinema and did enjoy it for the most part, i did really dislike what James did with his Kryptonian parents though, i was hoping it was going to be a missunderstood or miss translated but Gunn has gone on record saying its 100% accurate.

aarswft

I was rate this comment as “ok” as well.

Kawaii Leonard

You "was" rate...Cool. Your opinion is noted.

Steve Mercier

Looooooooooooooooooove this movie. The rest of James Gunn's DCEU can't get here fast enough.

Baldemort

Addie in the intro: "I might have fallen in love with Christpher Reeve" Addie, does Jeremy know he has competition? xD

aarswft

Excellent reaction. Such a feel good movie.

Doug

Peacemaker's great, and given how much Addie like Gunn's other projects including Cena in The Suicide Squad I'm sure she'd get a kick out of Peacemaker. Unfortunately at her recent Q&A she mentioned the next two or three other shows she's planning to watch after Ted Lasso (including the newer seasons of Stranger Things and Fallout) so unless she changes her mind I don't think Addie will be watching Peacemaker any time soon (2026 at the earliest, if that.)

Alex Tan

*EDIT* I ship Addie & Jeremy so hard! Speaking of Jeremy, will we ever get a poll regarding his movie picks? #JeremysPicksForAddieCounts

Jose Almeida

May be a minority on this but I still cannot recommend enough “The League of Superpets” where Krypto is the main character. In fact, Black Nerd calle it a better Justice League movie than the Live Action Justice League.

Doug

I really like this one, it's definitely my favorite Superman film since the original with Reeve. 🙂 I was talking to someone comparing this to the Snyder Superman films and, while Snyder is great at visuals and fight scenes and special effects, he's kind of hit or miss when it comes to actually writing characters that are entertaining to watch. And that's where I think Gunn has the edge, he's got a real knack for writing characters that are funny, endearing, and who feel like they have dynamic connections with each other. Not to mention the ability to take characters less well known in the mainstream like Mr. Terrific, Guy Gardner, and Krypto (or, say, Peacemaker or Groot) and find ways to make them really engage with the audience. (And that's not to say the main characters in this movie aren't entertaining by any means! This film has a great Luthor going for it, and Superman and Lois really have fantastic chemistry. But a bunch of the side characters also have a lot of shine to them.) Anyway, this one was definitely worth the rewatch for me. 👍 And hopefully this helps move Peacemaker up the short list of shows for Addie once she gets through her current show roster because, let's face it, Gunn is on fire with projects he's both written and directed (i.e. Guardians films (and holiday special), The Suicide Squad and its spin-offs, and now this Superman film. )

Doug

Yeah, it's off to a great start. 🙂 My only hesitation is this Superman film was written and directed by James Gunn himself, which is why it's so good (the man can do no wrong on those fronts right now!) But all the other films coming down the DCU pipeline the next couple of years are written and directed by other people, so who knows how good or bad they'll be? 🤷‍♂️ Out of curiosity I did look them up though, and the next two movies with confirmed release dates are: - Supergirl (June 2026), directed by Craig Gillespe who also did Lars and the Real Girl and I, Tonya, both of which are good films. - Clayface (September 2026), directed by James Watkins who's best known for horror/thriller movies Eden Lake and The Woman in Black. (Which is probably a good fit because I'm pretty sure they're going for a creepy body-horror theme with Clayface. I can definitely see that theme working for that character!) So the directors sounding like good fits for those two projects is at least a good sign. 🙂

Doug

I think I put this movie above Nolan's Batman Begins and the third film and below The Dark Knight. And definitely above the Snyder films.

Doug

Lol, more like Krypto is the bad boy charmer that you still love despite being a pain in the butt and are sure you can change eventually. 😄

Billy Dancel

Nicholas Hoult’s filmography is very accomplished beyond the X-Men and Superman. Here’s an idea for a new ending credits scene. Mr. Terrific gets his garage door to open much quicker, he takes off in his ship and the door closes as slow as it originally opened. I'm looking forward to Super Girl in the future!

Joe Blankenship

Easily my favorite Superman movie of all time. If you want another James Gunn movie to watch, you should check out his first movie--"Slither." That would be a good one for October since it's horror--but with plenty of light, comedic moments so I wouldn't say it's too scary. It's got Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker(Yondu) and a few others that he works with a lot.

djKENTO

the TV Show Superman and Lois which recently finished is a fantastic watch and I think you’d love it. The show starts well into their marriage and they have twin sons. They move back to the farm to raise the boys and it’s SO GOOD. The way Lois and Clark are show to be in love is maybe the best interpretation of their relationship.

I love this movie. I had to become a member to see your reaction.

This film is mid, and that's being generous, 'Man of Steel' will age better, and this film won't beat it in quality or in box office numbers. I'm happy that Addie enjoyed it, but I truly believe that Jeremy Jahns review was the first domino to fall. For the last seven to six months, I heard all these crazy and stupid leaks but I was like 'Nah, James Gunn couldn't be that dumb,' but the leaks were true, all of them. Krypto is annoying and he's a white lab, not a self insert for James Gunn's psycho dog. I was generally shocked by the mix reaction to Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor, I thought he could've had been the only stand out, but his "IA, IA, IA" line will go down in infamy. My main problem with this film is not that its stupid, not that's its an overstuff mess, made for the Gen-Z/Tik-Tok generation but that Superman isn't super in it. He's weak, vulnerable, immature, and gets his butt whopped throughout the entire film, and nobody respects him, not even Krypto, and Supergirl calling him a bitch was eye rolling. There is nothing wrong with being stoic. Superman doesn't whine or gets triggered by a hashtag, I can't believe that was true. And the Jor-El twist... unforgivable and its character assassination. Warner Bros spent of what is reported by Ohioan tax law and marketing to be roughly, $500 million at best and have the film flop, barely cracking $600 million. James Gunn fired Henry Cavill for this?

Doug

I don't know what "domino" you're expecting to fall, the film is 83% on Rotten Tomatoes with most critics having already reviewed it (compared to Man of Steel at 57%). And if you think the film is a "flop" at $600 million box office you're crazy, it's already better than broken even by most estimates (its estimated break even point was about $450 - 550 million). And that's just box office, that's not including any streaming revenue or ancillary revenue. So no, it objectively didn't flop at the box office based on the numbers, and it's gotten better critical reviews than Man of Steel. There's no domino falling here. P.S. Jeremy Jahns also gave the same rating to Guardians of the Galaxy 3 which by most reviews is the best of the triology. I think he just doesn't like James Gunn. 🤷‍♂️

Kyle Brandon Sanger

It has an estimated budget of $363 million, plus a reported 'Barbie' level marketing budget of $200 million. I had to make at least $875 million or higher to make profit. If you liked the film, then you liked it and that's okay.

Doug

No, it's estimated budget was $225 million according to multiple sources. It's got nothing to do with me liking the movie. You're just wrong about the numbers. P.S. The very general rule of thumb is a movie should make 2.5x its production budget (not including marketing) to break even. (Marketing isn't included in that 2.5x figure since marketing is sometimes harder to gather information on, and it's typically assumed that marketing and ancillary revenue balance out which is why the production cost is multiplied by 2.5, not the combined cost.) If you do want to include the marketing cost, you'd just add it to the 2.5x production cost and also add in estimated ancillary revenue. Superman (2025) had a production budget of $225 (not $363, which was a number initially incorrectly reported by some sources) so at $600 million it's already past it's 2.5x break even point.

Fraser

It must have really hurt you to hear that she enjoyed it, well enough to put together whatever that was

CloudSSj4

Hands down the best iteration of Superman on the silver screen since 1978, if not even better. man of steel, on the other hand, is a lesson about what not to do with Superman.

CloudSSj4

Absolutely loved this film! Hands down, the best cast and iteration of Superman on the silver screen since 1978, if not even better!

Lawrence Gibson

I did not like this version of Superman. Now look, James Gunn has been a beautiful part of the MCU with all three Guardians of the Galaxy movies. I believe his movies kept the MCU going while some of the others fell short of expectations. Here is the thing, he turned a DC movie into a Marvel movie. I may be old fashioned, but I like my Superman movies to be DC. Krypto the dog and a drunk super girl seems too over the top ridiculous. And what is with the robots in the fortress of Solitude? And some of the fight scenes felt like a cheap knock off of the fight scenes James Gunn did in the Gradians of the Galaxy movies. Just my two cents.

Spidey Productions

Hope you check out some of the Superman animated movies they are so good and fun with some team ups with batman too!

CloudSSj4

This is the closest Superman has ever been to the comic books. Krypto exists since 1955; the "drunk" Supergirl is straight from Tome King's "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" and there is a concrete and heavy reason behing her drinking the will probably be explored in her own film; the robots are straight from Grant Morrison's "All-Star Superman". DC is not all dark, gritty and edgy, but just few characters are and you can find humour even in there. Thank Mother Nature that they have thrown that idea in the bin where it belongs.

Lawrence Gibson

I agree with most of what you said. I'm the old man on the porch yelling get off my lawn. I want my DC and my Marvel to be separate. DC stands for detective comics. There was some humor. However, a DC movie for me is a detective movie that is dark and serious with some jokes mixed in. Marvel is the over-the-top goofy part of humanity that reminds us that the world is not black and white. That there is a big grey area and we are all family. And that anyone can be a hero. Of course, Love and Thunder got way too goofy! Look, it wasn't a bad movie. Just not for me.

CloudSSj4

The fact that you like your DC films to be dark, gritty and edgy doesn't mean that they should all be that way, mainly because it wouldn't be true to the comics. Talking about comic books, with few exceptions of course, Marvel is darker and more grounded in reality than DC, where the world-building is more lighthearted and fantastical.
