Here's the full length reaction to 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, the winner of this month's spinning wheel! I think this is the most grounded Michael Bay movie I've seen so far. Enjoy!

Happy Thursday, Addie! 😊 I'm looking forward to watching this reaction, as this'll be a first time watch for me as well. And after a super busy day yesterday, I'm also really looking forward to watching your "Fantastic Four" reaction as well this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

The best Michael Bay film imo

Kyle Brandon Sanger

This is Michael Bay's best film in my opinion, and its one that he wanted to get right. Also, this is the turning point of John Krasinski's career because he was sick of just being known as Jim from 'The Office'. I've read the book and this is accurate to what happened, although they are a few liberties. Some of the former CIA security contractors that are depicted in the film actually had a vital and important tactical advisors on set for realism. I actually met one of the guys that played one of the Delta Force operators who holds back Krasinski's Jack Silva as he screams. He's an ex SEAL and I talked to him about him being a military/tactical advisor for films and tv. Cool dude.

Hard movie to watch especially since Tyrone Woods was a friend of our family.

Movie aside, the cinematic music in this hits hard.

Not too bad of a movie. 👍I have no idea how accurate or inaccurate it is (I just assume off the bat that most movies which are "based on real events" take a lot of liberties), but the acting is all engaging and the action scenes are decent. It did feel a little too long at 2 1/2 hours, and yet ironically it also felt like it didn't really have a lot of character development and didn't really explain what was going on at times beyond the obvious of "the compounds are being attacked by a horde of militants and we're on our own for a while". To put it in perspective, 13 Hours definitely has a Black Hawk Down feel to it but I would say the latter is the superior movie. That one felt better shot, had a great musical score, and I think presented the action sequences in a more compelling way. Not that 13 Hours is bad, but more that I think it's like a 6.5/10 or so while Black Hawk Down is about an 8. 🤷‍♂️

As an aside, now I want to rewatch Tropic Thunder. 😄

EDIT: Addie did indeed recognize David Denman partway through the movie! Small world - John Krasinski and David Denman had vied for the affections of Pam in the U.S. version of "The Office".
