What size boots does Addie wear 🤔

djKENTO

The best San Francisco movie there is. Period.

Alex Tan

Happy Wednesday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the theatrical release of Zodiac (2007). I'm gonna watch the Director's Cut, when I get my Blu-ray copy soon.

djKENTO

I’m so annoyed the 4K release doesn’t have the option to choose and the director’s cut only has that one release.

Alex Tan

I know, right. That sucks.

ButtercupsTrueLove

I agree. There's also Phil Kaufman's remake "Invasion of the Body Snatchers", too.

djKENTO

Wait no… it’s Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home…

ButtercupsTrueLove

Thank you, Addie. You're back on my 'good' list of reactors! (just kidding!)

Baldemort

Crazy that this is based on a true story and that we never caught the guy. so many theories out there

Adrian Duenas

Great pick Addie! Zodiac is my favorite Fincher movie and my favorite movie about a serial killer. The runner up is of course SE7EN.

I said it before, and I'll say it again, 2007 was the best year of film! 'Zodiac' is a phenomenal film. Its scary because its real. Its as accurate as a film can get, painstaking and meticulous detail in recreating the Zodiac crime scenes. At the time of filming Jake Gyllenhaal was 27-years-old, the same age as the real life Robert Graysmith back in 1969/70. I've read Graysmith's book, many times over, and have studied this case to no end, as meticious as the Fincher film is, it has one problem, the script follows Graysmith's book to the t, and so everything's under Graysmith's account, research, experiences, and perspective. That's nothing bad, but its a little skewed, in all fairness. My favorite scene is the Arthur Leigh Allen interrogation, although the scary and iconic basement sequence still haunts viewers to this day and with good reason. Oh, and the Zodiac, he was never caught.

Heads-up for folks trying to sync with the Director's Cut of "Zodiac". Addie is reacting to the standard theatrical release, which is 2 hrs 37 minutes running time. The Director's Cut is 2 hrs 42 minutes long. I lost sync watching my Blu-ray copy but am able to stream the shorter theatrical version on Paramount+.

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 This is such a fantastic movie. This is always a must-watch whenever it's on tv. And the cast is phenomenal. Can't go wrong with Robert Downey Jr., Jake Gyllenhaal, and Mark Ruffalo. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

I've always enjoyed Fincher's "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" (2008) although admittedly it was never as popular as "Se7en" or "Zodiac" or "Fight Club". EDIT: Useless trivia - I attended Roosevelt Junior High School during the time when cab driver Paul Stine was killed by the Zodiac. In the movie the school is depicted as an elementary school where Robert Graysmith drops off his young son at the beginning of the movie. I recall reading the Chronicle and seeing Dave Toschi's name as the homicide inspector on several high profile murders back then. I don't recall the name of his partner in the movie, Bill Armstrong, but do recall the name of another inspector, Ed Erderlatz, often in news stories. I've read that Dave Toschi partly inspired Peter Falk's character of "Columbo" and also Steve McQueen's San Francisco homicide inspector in "Bullitt". I didn't know how to pronounce Dave Toschi's last name until the first time I watched "Zodiac". Personally, I do not recall the City being in a panic over the Zodiac, but that may be from my perspective of a kid just looking forward to getting my homework done and what was I gonna do on the weekends with neighborhood buddies. Don't recall my folks ever talking about it, either. After many viewings I've come to appreciate the performance of John Carroll Lynch (Arthur Leigh Allen) who is so good it seems criminal to refer to him as a 'character actor'. He was great as Norm, the supportive and doting husband to Marge Gunderson in "Fargo", the martial arts mentor to Morgan in "The Walking Dead" and most recently I watched him in the Prime Video crime drama "Ballard" as a reserve police officer. It wasn't until today that I looked it up and realized that Dave Toschi's wife is played by June Diane Raphael. I just watched her recently in the Zach Cregger film, "Weapons".

Visually, this is one of my favorite movies. It is just eye-candy from start to finish.

Steve Mercier

One of the best true story detective movies of all-time--right up there with All the President's Men.

Milton Reduxed

Great movie and reaction, it's just a shame we didn't get a conclusive ending SUMMER OF SAM (1999) is another true-crime serial killer movie about the 1977 New York murders, with the story mainly focused on the people of the city rather than the murders themselves

Steve SG-1

Other David Fincher movies to consider: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011), Gone Girl (2014)

ButtercupsTrueLove

Have to add that of all the TV shows and movies that I've watched on Addie's channel, THIS reaction of hers is my favorite!

Doug

On a total tangent, yeah, that actor who was the one Detective with the beard was Adam Goldberg who played Eddie on Friends. He also just happened to be on an episode of Joey I watched yesterday (they're rerunning Joey on the Friend's channel on YouTube). Of course he's been in lots of other things, such as on this channel he was in Saving Private Ryan, which was his big breakout film role. But to me he'll always be Chandler's crazy roommate Eddie. 😄

Mister Lou

"Where've you been? I've been waiting since Se7en!" was the first line said in the movie by somebody looking right into the camera.. I think that was a nod the director made to himself from the audience. I mean, he's made movies and trillers since Se7en, but this is him getting back into "crime/thriller" and one based on true events non the less.

Myth Oceanas

No conclusive ending, because Allen’s guilt is still inconclusive. Odds are it was him, but there is still evidence that doesn’t match. Just like Jack the Ripper we will never know with certainty.

Billy Dancel

I hope others will join me in hoping that you will someday watch "The Game" by Fincher, starring Michael Douglas and Sean Penn. The first time I watched this was in the theater hoping for action but not the investigative point of view. Tbh... the 70's setting and everything distracted me from enjoying the movie because I hated a lot about the times. Rewatching it a few times now I appreciate the movie's content. Complete side track coming.... Animal crackers. There's an old joke that I always tell people about animal crackers. There used to be a warning that read, "do not eat the contents if the seal is broken. " Each time i opened the box and found the seal, sure enough it was broken and I couldn't eat them. lol

Mario Sposato

If you want to continue down the Zodiac rabbit hole, there's a Netflix documentary that came out around last year about the case (as well as some things the film didn't cover) called "This Is The Zodiac Speaking"

Addie Counts

I said the exact same thing in the reaction! He will always be Eddie to me haha

Doug

Also don’t forget Escape from Alcatraz (1979) with Clint Eastwood and Milk (2008), they’re up there too. Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) is also a contender.

JAKH

Now that you have seen this, you would like: "Copycat" (1995) - Sigourney Weaver

JAKH

Are you going to finish the Dirty Harry franchise?

MrAustincummings

Just watched the reaction on YouTube. Nice! David Fincher is goated for sure. I mean, the majority of the scenes in this movie are people reading things aloud, and we're on the edge of our seats. Fantastic! I'm a fan of you watching movies that you just want to see, without having polls and wheels. Put some more of those in the mix.
