I've rewatched season 3 since Addie started watching and I think the media (and I) were way to harsh on S3 when it aired. It wasn't the epic drama people wanted, it was a bunch of really good, funny, heartwarming episodes. Sam's dad is GOAT.

The first time I watched this series, I thought that Sam was the sanest, most emotionally healthy character in it. You meet his dad, and it becomes clear why. It's so very much right there. You saw Ola long before he showed up in the flesh, just from how good a job that he and his wife did in raising Sam.
