With Valentine's Day coming up, let's watch a movie with a little romanceeee! As I was making this list, it honestly shocked me how many of these classics I still need to see... Let's fix that today!!

Comments

Chris

The Before Trilogy!

Alex Tan

Happy Thursday, Addie. All of them have my votes because all of them are great choices.

The Dingo

Literally any of these!

Michael Saville

I can’t watch dirty, dancing without remembering the Family Guy Star Wars parody of it 🤣

Alexander George

Oh Wow ! Addie ... what a list! I need to take some time to think about this!

Robert da Spruce

Hope you’re feeling a bit better today Addie! Though I probably wouldn’t categorize Stardust as a typical Valentine’s Day rom-com, I think you would enjoy it. And wouldn’t mind seeing you react to it on another day if possible

The Dude Abides

Legends of the Fall is one of the best movies ever made hands-down, and not nearly enough reactors have reacted to it

Luis Fernandez

I'd bet Addie would enjoy these even if not for the channel

Joe Cross

Addie is NOT ready for My Girl (but I’m so ready to see her not being ready for it) 🤣

Hunter DeRensis

There should be a poll in the future for class (pre-1970) romance!

Tom W.

Sixteen Candles is a must, even if it's Patreon only.

John A

You should absolutely watch Ghost regardless of poll results

djKENTO

My Girl is NOT a romance. That's a coming of age drama/comedy.

Randee Carreno

Happy Thursday, Addie! 😊 All amazing choices for this poll. "Stardust" easily got my main vote. With "Ghost" and "Dirty Dancing" my second and third choices. Have a great day today! 😊

John A

For Love of the Game is the better romance related baseball movie, but it's more serious than comedy

Doug

Looks like a good poll. 👍 I'm going with Bull Durham, Ghost, Pretty Woman, and Jerry Maguire as the ones I most want to watch but honestly all the others look ok too. P.S. I wonder how many of these were referenced in Ted Lasso? I know for sure Jerry Maguire was, and I'm pretty sure Sleepless in Seattle, You've Got Mail, and Pretty Woman are too.

Zephyr (AD)

Good list! (Hoping for "Pretty Woman" or "Dirty Dancing", but lots of good options I think regardless of which win.) I might also suggest "Shakespeare in Love" (1998) for future romance polls, and perhaps "10 things I hate about you" (1999).

Doug

Ooh, Shakespeare in Love is a good pick! It (controversially) beat Saving Private Ryan for Best Picture. (I definitely think Saving Private Ryan should have beaten it, but Shakespeare in Love is still a fun movie. 😊)

Doug

Still fits for Valentines Day either way. 👍

Jon Anderson

I could totally go for that. I can think of many brilliant old romance movies off the top of my head.

Andy Munden

Stardust is criminally underated

Doug

I guess if that ever happens some possible ones might include (not double checking Addie's Letterboxd so she's probably seen a couple of these): - Singing in the Rain (1952) - Roman Holiday (1953) - From Here to Eternity (1953) - Marty (1955) - The Apartment (1960) - Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961) - West Side Story (1961) - My Fair Lady (1964) - Dr Zhivago (1965) - The Sound of Music (1965) (Didn't Addie take part in this musical at some point?)

Hunter DeRensis

Honestly I was thinking even older. It Happened One Night (1934), My Man Godfrey (1936), Only Angels Have Wings (1939), The Philadelphia Story (1940), The Lady Eve (1941), Ball of Fire (1941), The Palm Beach Story (1942), The More the Merrier (1943), The Ghost and Mrs. Muir (1947), The Quiet Man (1952), Roman Holiday (1953), Sabrina (1954), Marty (1955), etc.

Chris Capitano

“The ugly truth” & “She’s out of my league” are also good ones

Brian's Dog

I feel somewhat dirty voting for Wedding Crashers for Valentines, but I did it anyway.

Chris

She's Out Of My League is criminally underrated 🙌

Robb

500 days of summer

EmAtinyDragon

Rooting for Sleepless Seattle the most as it features a bit of Valentine's Day. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are my favorite romcom duo.

John A

I would say if Addie watches "Sleepless in Seattle" she should watch first "An Affair to Remember" (1957). Since Sleepless is a love letter to An Affair to Remember. Interested in how many would agree with me.

Luis Fernandez

Looks like Wedding Crashers may take it. Addie, if you were hoping for a more traditional romance you may want to watch the runner-up as well,

Alex Tan

Seems to me that Addie's Patreon community is heavily drawn to seeing her watching more outrageous comedies. That's why the more comedic movies have won her sports polls in the past.

Alex Tan

...and it's also why comedies are one of her go-to genres, the other being sci-fi action.

Tesh

ooh been ages since i watched Stardust, definitely fantastic, hope it wins

David Lonewolf Wright

I was hoping for it too. Most reactors I have seen usually say they can't believe they never watched it before. Maybe it will win the poll for fantasy...

EmAtinyDragon

I would argue that she could watch that after watching "Sleepless in Seattle". Either way, she should watch it at some point, before or after.

Alex Tan

Not only that, Addie feels that the traditional romance movies & rom-coms usually aren't ones that her community is interested in seeing her watching, another potential reason why Wedding Crashers (2005) is the winner. But she is doing another one, hopefully it has only the more traditional romance movies this time, because I know where the voters would steer her into, if she puts a more outrageous comedy in the mix.

Luis Fernandez

Since we're getting a second poll, I'll suggest you add the most romantic movie ever made: Natural Born Killers (1994). But since that's unlikely , I'll also add support to Chris Shine's suggestion and recommend you add Before Sunrise (1995) to the poll.

John A

I just think watching Sleepless first will spoil An Affair to Remember. in my option, but would love her to watch both

Jeff I.

Addie, just go into Wedding Crashers knowing that it's not a romance movie. It's a silly, sometimes crude, sometimes cringe 2000's comedy. It's a good one, but it's definitely the outlier in this poll compared to the others.
