Here's the full length reaction to Godzilla Minus One, our latest poll winner! This movie blew me away! I watched this on Netflix in the original Japanese with English subtitles (not English CC - apparently they are slightly different). I'm planning on watching Pacific Rim soon as well! That'll make it on the schedule towards the end of this month or beginning of June. Enjoy!

Welcome to the world of Godzilla!

Hi Addie. Will you be watching Project Hail Mary? it's going to be available on digital this week.

In case you are interested, I sincerely recommend the movie GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN, DON'T DIE (2026), a bonkers action comedy touching on an eerily timely topic. My favorite of the year so far, and is directed by Gore Verbinski (director of the first 3 PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movies). Sam Rockwell plays the lead. REMARKABLY BRIGHT CREATURES (2026), which just came out on Netflix this past Friday, is another great one, albeit super heartwarming.

My second fav movie of 2023 behind Oppenheimer. This took home the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, a movie with a VFX team of only 35 people!

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 This is one that I've heard a lot about, but had yet to see. So this'll be a first time watch for me as well. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

Closed Captions is an accessibility option primarily for people who are hard-of-hearing or deaf. That's why CC includes descriptions of sounds and music. Sometimes dialog may be simplified for easier reading. Subtitles are for translating or transcribing dialog that the viewer doesn't understand (e.g. foreign language, etc). CC is often mistaken for subtitles, but they have different purposes and so may be different representations of the same content.

This will be a first time watch for me too, looking forward to this experience!

"We leave you the future." Nerdy Nightly (Clarus) had a very emotional reaction to that line. I found an easter egg! I found an easter egg! I hope you find it before you start editing. There is a porcelain tea cup that has the same design as the title for the movie. The overall theory of sinking and raising Godzilla from the pressure of the depths of the sea is giving him the bends. Once any living being is submerged from a far depth, if it surfaces too quickly the blood becomes dangerously full of nitrogen. This movie sets up a perfect question for the next AMA

This is in my top 10 of 2023 as well! My top 3 of that year is a tie for #1 between KILLERS OF THE FLOWER MOON and THE ZONE OF INTEREST followed by OPPENHEIMER at #3.

Am I even allowed to speak anymore? What happened to GxK? The one with the power glove.

I am a lifelong fan of Godzilla, so here is my list of the best Godzilla movies, as someone that has seen all of them, I would list Godzilla(1954) Mothra vs. Godzilla(1964), Ghidorah, the Three Headed Monster(1964), Invasion of Astro-Monster, Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla vs MechGodzilla, Terror of MechaGodzilla, all of the Heisei( 1984-1995), “Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All Out Attack”Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla , Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S., Shin Godzilla as the best Godzilla movies and would make a great Godzilla marathon. I would also recommend that you watch “ The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms” which inspired Godzilla and features the amazing work of Ray Harryhausen.

What i love about godzilla is how adaptable he is, some movies have it set in the 50’s, the 80’s, modern day, heck even some take place in the future. He’s been depicted as a serious allegory for wartime like in the original and a champion of justice like in the later goofy 60’s movies! One thing remains the same though. He truly is the King of the monsters

I'm not a huge kaiju fan in general but this movie is one of the exceptions, it's definitely the best of the Godzilla franchise (with the original Godzilla being the next best, give or take it feeling a bit dated maybe nowadays). Not only are the special effects in this one fantastic, but it's also got a pretty satisfying story arc. To me that's makes this as much of "a good movie with Godzilla in it" over "a good Godzilla movie". 😊 Also it's kind of fun that we've recently had Cloverfield on the channel and Pacific Rim might be coming up soon since it was a fairly close second in the Sci-Fi poll behind Godzilla Minus One. I love how Cloverfield turns things on its head by following the people trying to escape the monster rather than the military trying to kill it. And Pacific Rim is my "guilty pleasure" movie in the genre, it's a pretty goofy premise but there's something pretty fun about it anyway. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They only touched on it briefly, but after WWII, the U.S conducted a bunch of nuclear bomb tests in the Pacific (they showed a old newsreel) Implying that the radiation from those detonations somehow made Godzilla grow bigger. And gave him the blue heat ray and possibly the ability to regenerate As far as the thing on Noriko’s neck at the end, my theory is the blast radiation somehow gave her the ability to regenerate like Godzilla. I’m sure that’ll be addressed in the sequel though

I would wholeheartedly welcome a deeper dive into Godzilla, so long as we stick to the Japanese-made movies. The American-made ones (especially the MonsterVerse) were terrible!

I heavily recommend -- HEAVILY recommend -- that you go to the original 1954 film "Gojira" for your next watch. For me that is the uncontested best film of the entire Godzilla franchise, and and it's the one that approaches with the concept with the same seriousness and solemnity that they revisited here. They wanted to make a movie that had a monster in it, not a monster movie.

One thing about Japanese pilots was if they were married and became kamikaze pilots their wives could immediately remarry as they were effectively considered widows.
