Here's the full length reaction to Holes! A friend mentioned this movie recently and was so surprised that I hadn't seen it yet... I've now seen this movie mentioned several times since then, so I'm taking this as a sign that I finally need to watch this movie! I had so much fun with this one! SPOILERS: it did take me a second to realize that Hector Zeroni had the same last name as Madame Zeroni... I didn't realize it immediately when he said his name lol. Feel free to roast me! Enjoy!

This is one of the best book-to-film adaptations I’ve seen. This was required reading for me in the 5th grade back in late 2001/early 2002, and I remember wondering aloud at the time that it would make a great film. Needless to say, I was shocked when it was indeed made into a film just over a year later in 2003 (I was 12 when it came out), and I was impressed by how it captured the tone of the book. Phenomenal casting choices, especially Sigourney Weaver as The Warden (she captured the intimidating nature of her character from the book so well), Patricia Arquette as Kate Barlow, and Eartha Kitt as Madame Zeroni.

Addie Mortal Kombat 2 is about to be released in digital. Can't wait for your reaction. It's my favorite movie in the franchise.

Yes! This takes me back to…elementary school. Omg this movie is over 20 years old 😩

Happy Monday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Holes (2003), despite that snake scene with Barf Bag at the start making you squirm. I read the book in 5th grade and enjoyed it. I even own this movie on DVD in both Widescreen (1.85:1) and Fullscreen (1.33:1) formats with the latter version in open matte. BTW, this movie was also directed by Andrew Davis, who also did The Fugitive (1993) with Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones. And you've also seen Brendan Jefferson (X-ray) before in Crimson Tide (1995). He was Denzel Washington's son in that movie.

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 It's been awhile since I've seen this movie. The only thing that I remember about it is that it has a young Shia LaBeouf in it. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊

I just subscribed to your channel and in the last few days I watched O Brother Where Art Thou, Constantine, and Galaxy Quest, then this came out and I realized it had Tim Blake Nelson, Sigourney Weaver, and Shia Labeouf lol

Baldemort

lol reading your description, I realized I had the same issue with that clicking I think the first 2 times I watched it. 😂

Oh thank GOODNESS I'm not the only one hahaha

I'm just a little too old to have childhood nostalgia for this film, but I DEFINITELY have it for the book. I can't oversell how good the book is enough. The movie is great, so imagine how great the book is just based on the fact that they had to leave stuff out in the adaptation. You should add it to your next "to be read..." list just to reward yourself.

This was better than I thought as well. To be honest, when Shia LaBeouf was on Even Stevens I could not stand him. That's why I never wanted to see this. When Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull came out I didn't mind him. He did a good job in Fury.

Holes is such an underrated movie, and I forgot how good it is because I haven’t seen it in years. Sadly it came out in the 200’s, a time when a lot people say Disney was in a slump, and putting out a lot of hit, or miss movies. Due to that I feel like good movies like holes flew under people’s radar, or were forgotten over time. Also i didn’t make the connection between Zero, and Madame Zeroni too, so know you’re not alone.

I remember reading the book in middle school, back when I had trouble reading for fun. This story had me hooked and it felt like a month or two later the movie came out and I didn't even know it was being made. I knew Shia from a few episodes of Even Stevens and I knew Pendanski from Oh, Brother Were Art Thou? Because my dad loved that movie. Also I was a Huge wrestling fan back then, so any movie with The Rock in it, I watched! He did a remake of Walking Tall! And I loved that movie, it had The Rock from WWF, Johnny Knoxville from Jackass and Zero from Holes! 😆

Yeah, first time seeing this one for me, good film! 👍 And the cast is pretty stacked! (In addition to the people Addie mentioned at the end, Dulé Hill is another recognizable face, he's been in a bunch of stuff but personally I was a big fan of him as Gus in Psych. 😊)
