I guess this was supposed to be the end of season one before the writer's strike of that year

I heard Tuco's character was supposed to have a longer run in the show, but Raymond Cruz asked to be written out earlier because playing Tuco was too physically and mentally exhausting. Plus he was also committed to either The Closer or Major Crimes (I don't remember which of those shows was in production at the time).

Raymond Cruz, the actor who played Tuco, will forever be identified with Breaking Bad, despite barely being on the show. He couldn't stay long because he was starring on another show: The Closer. He played a police detective (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWjxw-G5ghY) on 105 episodes of The Closer and 105 episodes of its spinoff Major Crimes. That's 210 episodes playing the same character over 13 seasons, from 2005 to 2018. And yet, when he was in the news last year over a dispute with a neighbor, every headline mentioned "Breaking Bad." Not those other shows.

“I wanted you to try the death meth” “I need you to try the death meth, please and thank you” 🤣🤣🤣 you cracked me up good with those. Only problem is even if he tried it it would take a couple days to kill him.

Season 2 really hits ground running! Don’t know how it can get any crazier, but I know they will!

Adrian Duenas

Sorry Addie, no death meth for Tuco

It's pretty amazing how memorable a character Tuco is despite only being in a few episodes.

The reason these episodes had finale vibes is that this storyline was the general plan for the S1 finale but it was interrupted by a writer's strike, hence why the first season is so much shorter than all the others. They managed to still shoehorn it in and ended up offing Tuco! Tuco had been intended to be the big antagonist for S2 but a) he's probably too crazy to keep around for too long 😆 and b) the actor Raymond Cruz partially requested it as he found the character so emotionally exhausting to play! Walt's face when Tuco says completely sincerely that he can see the future always makes me laugh. Complete madman. In case you were wondering how Hank found them, certain manufacturers of the hydraulic systems that make cars bounce up & down are required to have GPS trackers fitted in them (the reason being that that modification is popular among criminals) and so Hank was able to locate Jesse's car that way. We've just been introduced to one of my favourite characters, "Tio" Salamanca. Tio is Spanish for Uncle. Having a character who can only communicate via a bell is so good. He could sound the alarm but not properly explain why. He also played it like he was totally out of it, meanwhile he was listening to Walt & Jesse's schemes the whole time. Not a good witness for them to keep alive!

Looks like our sweet, demure Addie has taken to a life of crime like a duck to water. Maybe we should set up a slush fund for bail money just in case!

Lanny Stanfield

Mark Margolis, who plays Tio Salamanca, is also amazing. He's a non-Latino actor playing that character so convincingly.

Mathieu Paquin

Wait is this your first time watching?

Blind Entertainment

Yes I’m one of the few who have never seen Breaking Bad.

As crazy as Tuco was, I appreciated the little we saw of his relationship with his tio in this episode. And obviously Tio cared about Tuco since he stopped him from eating the death meth. ('Death meth' 😂)
