Wes Anderson at his most Wes Anderson-y. Pause the movie at any moment and it feels like you’re looking at a painting. Perfect camera framing, meticulous detail, and a cast that tops itself every time someone new shows up.

Wes is my favorite filmmaker, hope you do another. All the top vote getters in the poll would be good

Addie, the way this movie was filmed makes it such eye candy. Also I want those cakes 🤣

My heart still flutters for The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and Rushmore, but this is probably my favorite Wes Anderson movie. Ralph Fiennes so rarely does comedy, but he always shines when he does. Goooooooooooooooood stuff.

For me, this is the last of the great Wes Anderson films. After this, I feel that they have the style but the storytelling starts suffering. But the earlier films... all gold. If you ever wind up watching The Darjeeling Limited (2007), I'd recommend you first watch the short film Hotel Chevalier, which you can find on YouTube. It is a sort of a prelude.

Baldemort

Addie, was this the first movie you saw the actor Ralph Fiennes, playing another role other than Voldemort? xD

I think if ever there was a film that exemplified the word "whimsy", it's this one. 😊 The look and feel really is as precious and fanciful as Mendl's perfect little pastries. Not surprisingly this movie was nominated for multiple Academy Awards, but it lost Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography to Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) starring Michael Keaton (which is pretty high praise for that movie all things considered!) On a tangent, F Murray Abraham made me realize Addie hasn't seen Amadeus (1984). If you want to see more of him, that's definitely the film to watch, it's pretty fantastic! 😊

I consider Isle Of Dogs a masterpiece as well.
