Happy Friday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed North By Northwest (1959) as your favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie. My personal favorite Hitchcock movie, alongside Psycho (1960), is Vertigo (1958), which is more of a psychological thriller. Please watch that movie, when you get the chance. #VertigoForAddieCounts And yes, at 03:14 in the video and 02:06 in the movie, that WAS Hitch. He just missed the bus.

Cary Grant is a Classic Hollywood staple for me. Soooo many of his movies are worth checking out. Bringing Up Baby, The Awful Truth, Holiday, The Bishop’s Wife, Charade, and his other 3 Hitchcock movies: Suspicion, Notorious, and To Catch a Thief.

So glad you loved this movie Addie. I hope you continue your Hitchcock journey soon. There are still a lot of great movies you need to watch, his filmography is amazing.

2026-09-27 00:00 I’m so glad you checked out North by Northwest, despite it losing by one vote. Eva Marie Saint was born on the Fourth of July 1924. And she’s still alive at 102! (She won an Oscar in 1955 for Best Actress for On the Waterfront.) Cary Grant is one of the giants of cinema, and North by Northwest shows off why he’s so unique and iconic. Hopefully, you’ll check out more of his films. Cary Grant was born in 1904. His first and only child, Jennifer Grant, was born in 1966 when he was 62. (He shared her with actress Dyan Cannon). Jennifer, who turned 60 earlier this year, was on an episode of the first season of Friends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjO82HPVbvk In 2023, Dyan Cannon and Jennifer Grant produced a TV show about Cary Grant, starring Jason Isaacs called Archie. (Cary Grant's birth name was Archie Leach): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIX_V8DvGZQ

Time for the Hitchcock masterpiece To Catch a Thief

This was a great watch! Cary Grant stars with Deborah Kerr in the timeless classic, An Affair To Remember 1957. A great romantic movie.

This movie (and Rear Window) are more representative of most of Hitchcock's body of work than Psycho or the Birds. You would probably also like "The Trouble With Harry" - which is an outright dark comedy by Hitchcock.

On a tangent it's fun seeing Martin Landau as the bad guy's right hand man. North by Northwest was his first big movie, but as a kid I remember him starring in Space: 1999, and much later starring as aging actor Bela Lugosi in the film Ed Wood (which FYI is a great movie, I know someone else has put on the spinny wheel a bunch of times!) He also had a leading role as "Master of Disguise Rollin Hand" in the original Mission Impossible TV series.

I really enjoyed Addie's watchalong reaction to this one. I have some secret agent-related trivia for some of the actors. Actor Edward Platt played Roger Thornhill's lawyer who represented him on the drunk driving charge. Platt played the Chief of C.O.N.T.R.O.L on the '60s TV show, "Get Smart", which was created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry. Leo G. Carroll played The Professor who oversaw Eve's connection to Vandamm. In the '60s, he played the officer in charge on the TV show, "The Man from U.N.C.L.E.", an agency with secret agents. Martin Landau played the slimy Leonard who was jealous of Eve's relationship with his boss, Vandamm. Again, in the '60s, Landau was part of the original cast of the TV show, "Mission: Impossible", upon which the film series starring Tom Cruise is loosely based. Lalo Schifrin's theme song for the "Mission: Impossible" films was also taken from the TV show.

If you liked this one, you should watch another Hitchcock movie called Family Plot. It was quite good as well. Not quite North By Northwest, but still a good movie. Another great one is Saboteur (1942). That one really drew me in! This was fun to watch with you! I loved your guesses and your frustration with "Who is this woman!!!" haha I really appreciate your channel here. Thanks for sharing with us!
