Thanks for the early reaction. I want to see this movie, too. I guess I'll spring for the streaming pay-per-view since it isn't yet released on Blu-ray/4K.

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 I've been looking forward to your reaction for this movie. As much as I love the other Tom Holland "Spider-Man" movies, this one is my favorite. And I ended up seeing it twice in the theaters. Love seeing Jon Bernthal in this as Frank Castle/The Punisher. Fun Fact: He and Tom Holland helped each other with their MCU role auditions in back 2015. Have a great day & a great weekend! 😊

The director of this movie (Destin Daniel Cretton) also made SHORT TERM 12. Highly recommend this.

I really loved this one. Probably my favorite Tom Holland Spider-Man movie. They took a lot of inspiration from the Insomniac Spider-Man, at least for the action sequences. Hopefully you check out the Punisher show sometime, season 1 is exceptional and season 2 is solid as well. Maybe keep them as Patreon exclusives or something.

My favorite Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man 2. Very curious to find out what the post credit scene is hinting at

Brand New Day reaction. This is big potatoes! 😄

Just the best Spider-Man movie ever...and also one of the best MCU movies ever (Sony be damned!)...

Luis Fernandez

A nice way to do MCU-specific research on The Punisher and get his backstory is to watch Daredevil S2. Heheh

Happy Friday, Addie (even though it's already Saturday in China). I'm so glad that you enjoyed Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026). This is now my favorite MCU movie in recent years and is my other favorite movie of the year alongside The Odyssey (2026), also with Tom Holland. In fact, I saw it in 1.90:1 (the movie was opened up to that aspect ratio in theaters with a taller screen size), TWICE. First in normal with my girlfriend and again in Dolby Cinema with our best friend and we all enjoyed it. This was also the first time that a Marvel movie truly hit me hard. It's because it tackled something that I felt on a personal level. On the evening of the 4th of July, I felt completely alone because at the time, my girlfriend was on vacation in Costa Rica, my parents were on vacation in China, my sister was with her boyfriend, and I was at home alone. Sure, I felt a great sense of independence, but it was hard for me to enjoy the holiday evening because of me being all alone. So the movie tackled that topic really well.

Need to check out season 2 of Daredevil to learn more about Frank. And he's got his own show that's pretty good. Also, it's been hotly debated whether or not Ned's memories were actually restored by the secret handshake or if Ned remembered that MJ called Spider-Man Peter... I choose to believe secret handshake broke the spell. As for Jean Grey, Charles Xavier sure has been taking his time tracking her down. There's not an X-Men movie on the docket til after Secret Wars. She'll have already gotten her GED by then.

2026-10-12 04:00 I really like this one, maybe not quite as much as the last two but that's only by a little bit since all four Tom Holland movies are a lot of fun. 😊 The one issue I have is that it's hard for me to get around is that they made Jean Grey so TOO unlikable in the first 2/3 of the movie, to the extent that when they finally get around to giving her a redemption arc of sorts it makes it difficult to root for her getting away with all the stuff she did. For example, Peter says she's "not a killer" but I find it hard to believe she didn't actually kill anybody in the prison explosion or the guy she had walk in front of a car or in all the crashes she caused when she froze a square mile of the city in seizures. And that's on top of what she did to MJ which was just plain spiteful. So for her to get Aunt May's "great responsibility" speech and then literally just take a bus out of town and take zero responsibility for the damage she caused, it feels kind of like a disconnect. Other than that, though, a lot of the rest of the film is great! The action sequences, lots of interesting camera angles, an excellent cast, and aside from my complaint above I even liked the plot and the subplot of Peter slowly coming to terms with whether or not he should connect more with MJ and Ned. 👍 P.S. And seeing Tramell Tillman as the director of Damage Control just really gets me hoping that Addie will watch Severance at some point. He's phenomenal in that!

I never read comics about the X-Men so I was a little weary about learning of Sara Grey. Jean's story was rough here and we're lucky she had Peter to help her get through it. Been a long time but it was great to see the true HULK!

Kaleigh Kaos

I don't see how the two things are mutually exclusive. I think MJ calling Spider-Man Peter along with the handshake worked like a combination lock.

Michael

I believe Peter and MJ are going to get back together. It is not going to be in the obvious simplistic way people expected. He can't just go up and tell them because they have not actually met much less have any relationship with each other. It wouldn't believedd. However, the more they are around each around though, they can get those same feelings. The exception is that magic removes the spell somehow during DOOMSDAY OR SECRET WARS

Mister Lou

Despite all the great homages to the past Spider-Man movies (not starring Tom Holland.) And besides the amazing scenes with Yelana and Spidey Scenes, the Hulk/Punisher/Jean Grey scenes, his hands shake and LOTR references with Ned get me the most gitty, the more I watch this masterpiece of a Spider-Man Film.
