To answer the questions is Die Hard a Christmas movie? Yes it is. Is part 2 a Christmas movie? Yes, yes it is.

The Dingo

The original is most def a Christmas movie. No question.

Alex Tan

Happy Wednesday, Addie. Die Hard (1988) and its sequel Die Hard 2: Die Harder (1990) ARE Christmas movies. It's really great that you've finally watched the sequel after watching the first film, last year. I'm looking forward to having a Die Hard double feature soon.

Randee Carreno

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 I'm really looking forward to this this one. I've seen the first "Die Hard" lots of times and it's one of my favorite Bruce Willis movies. But I have yet to see this one. Until today. :) I'm going to watch this later, because this movie is scheduled to be on one of the cable channels today. And it'll be the perfect time to sync this up with that. Definitely looking forward to watching it. Have a great day today! 😊

Speaking of Renny Harlin, I suggest Cliffhanger (1993), The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996), & Deep Blue Sea (1999).

You seem to have taken a liking to Christmas action movies. Awesome! A few others are: "Lethal Weapon" (1987) "The Long Kiss Goodnight" (1996) "Batman Returns" (1992) But you will have to watch the 1989 "Batman" movie first before seeing the Christmassy sequel. 🎄

Another action movie that's set around Christmas is Enemy of the State (1998, starring Will Smith & Gene Hackman, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, and directed by Tony Scott) and Reindeer Games (2000, with Ben Affleck, Charlize Theron, & Gary Sinise). And The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) is also directed by Renny Harlin, who did Die Hard 2: Die Harder (1990).

One more absolutely essential "Die Hard" movie to watch: 1995's "Die Hard: With a Vengeance"... though, as always, you're free to also watch the fourth and fifth outings. None of them take place around Christmas, though, so you won't have to wait another year to watch them.

Steve SG-1

How where the Great Pyramids created? Are UFOs real? Are we alone in the universe? Pineapple on pizza? Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?😉

Prof. Writhms

Oh! To answer your "controversial" (haha) question, "Is Die Hard a Christmas movie?" Definitely! Die Hard takes place during the Christmas season. There are Christmas songs in the soundtrack. There are many references to Christmas, including,"Now I have a machine gun. Ho Ho Ho..." But most importantly, there is a Christmas plot point. John McClane gets an invitation to a Christmas party that sets into motion all the events thereafter. Not to mention shooting the main bad guy at the end with a gun that was stuck to his back with Christmas wrapping tape. [mistletoe drop] 🎄

If this is a christmas movie, then Lord of the rings is even a Christmas movie. As the fellowship departs Rivendell on Dec 25th on their quest to destroy the ring.

The Real NC Picker

Why would shit set off a metal detector? 🤔🤔🤔

The Real NC Picker

When I was little, in the 80s, I used to think Star Wars was coming on every time I saw the 20th Century Fox intro. Needless to say, I was disappointed a lot.

Danny Miller

I don’t consider it a Christmas movie. It just occurs during the holiday, and it would be the same movie regardless of when it took place.

Hok'Tar

Hey Addie, If you liked the first 2 Die Hard movies, you'll love the 3rd one. Die Hard with a Vengeance. Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson are fantastic together. Someone mentioned The Long Kiss Goodnight. That's also really good. Same vibe as Die Hard starring Geena Davis and co-starring Samuel L. Jackson. The Lethal Weapon movies are also a must watch

The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996) was also directed by Renny Harlin, who did Die Hard 2: Die Harder (1990).

Gideon James

Addie, you should check out Bullet Train for a contemporary action comedy with twists and turns. It's bloody fun. Figuratively and literally. I think you would enjoy it. Pitt and Bullock you can't go wrong. Thanks again for all that you give us!

SplinterTME

It isn't Christmas until someone throws Hans Gruber from nakatomie plaze

Hear, hear. But I must warn you that there will be a SNAKE in that movie, but don't worry, the story arc that features the snake is only secondary to the film's main plot. Please be brave, Addie. You got this.

Gideon James

Die Hard 3: With A Vengeance is a good way to finish out the series. No need to go past that one. The quality takes a nosedive after that. It's not a Xmas movie, but it does co-star Samuel L Jackson and has the first one's director returning John McTiernan.

Alex Tan

…and speaking of John McTiernan, I also suggest Predator (1987, WARNING!: There's a brief SNAKE scene in this one), The Hunt for Red October (1990), Last Action Hero (1993), The Thomas Crown Affair (1999), and The 13th Warrior (1999).

To answer your question in the intro about "how is he getting into these situations" and the asnwer is simple: Hes just in the wrong place at the wrong time and he feels obligated to do something. Thats essentially how it is for every movie. I loved the next two movies after this. "Die Hard With a Vengeance" and "Live Free or Die Hard"
