Here's the full length reaction to The Fifth Element! I had NO IDEA what to expect with this movie. I was expecting more of a straight-forward sci-fi action film, so I was pleasantly surprised that it's also a comedy! So many great moments and fabulous characters in this movie! Enjoy!

Happy Monday, Addie. The Fifth Element (1997) is my favorite Luc Besson movie. It's also fun to see Sir Ian Holm (RIP) in this movie after LOTR. The scene in Korben's apartment where he is visited by Gen. Munro, Cornelius, & Leeloo was hilarious, even if poor Leeloo got soaking wet by the auto-wash in Korben's shower. Another funny scene is when the two cops were casually enjoying their McDonald's Golden Menus, only to get dragged into Korben's chase when he knocked over their food, they even crashed into a McDonald's truck as well, alongside the gag with Zorg getting an empty case.

Here's a website that talks about the movie's use of the Super 35 format because of the film's VFX. This format was also used in Lord of the Rings (2001-2003), Pirates of the Caribbean (2003-2007), Harry Potter (2001-2011), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Apollo 13 (1995), Titanic (1997), The Matrix (1999), Gladiator (2000), V for Vendetta (2005), Spider-Man 2 (2004), Spider-Man 3 (2007), Enchanted (2007), Iron Man (2008) & Iron Man 2 (2010). http://www.vfxhq.com/spotlight97/9707b.html

The Inedible Mattman!

Can’t wait to watch this with you tonight after work! Gotta love the Fifth Element. It’s a classic, even if it is absolutely bonkers

Randee Carreno

Happy Monday, Addie! I hope that you had a great weekend. 😊 This is such a great movie with a great cast. Definitely one of my top favorite Bruce Willis movies. I very highly recommend the 1998 Bruce Willis movie "Armageddon".

Hear, hear. That is one movie that I would recommend to Addie, along with Bad Boys (1995), Bad Boys II (2003), The Rock (1996), and Pearl Harbor (2001), all produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Michael Bay.

Between this reaction and another reaction from someone else I follow... this Monday is lining up to be quite a day :)

Yup and now you MUST watch Rush Hour. An amazing series of three films that are action comedies staring Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan in a buddy cop duo.

Billy Dancel

"Bilbo has a theory!" "I hope he's not able to, like, extract it from your memory." (with the wand motion) Especially for the Diva scenes I was glued to seeing how you would react. You loved her voice. You enjoyed the tempo and song change. That high note is unreal! Your theater heart truly had to have been happy with that performance. I draw a similarity to this and the opera song Andy plays in The Shawshank RedemptionKorben is mesmerized by it just like all of the prisoners in the prison. Wind blows... earth for earth... water wets... fire... lights match, Addie holds her breath! It worked! Yeah, they're a little busy right now. They're gonna make a sixth element! hahahaha Happy to watch this with you! Take care, Addie!

Sorry for the length of this 'comment.' I have just discovered your reactions and you have quickly become one of my favorite reactors as your expressions illuminate the screen. This is a list I started and kept adding to and then realized it made for a great reference for reactors as these are mostly "must see" movies. I have only included what I feel a reactor should know going in: the year, director and genre. Not knowing the stars can make for a good reaction in those instances. The categories are by Director if notable enough, Genre, Trilogy or Series. Tidbits are vague opinions that are general public ones and not necessarily mine. Some movies on this list I actually don't care about but they are here as they are still clearly well regarded. This is a master list hence some of these movies you have probably already reacted to. I hope nobody has anything interesting to say as you have to read the bible to get to it xD but addie if you see this, I forgot to mention that you should add "Armageddon" to your list. With main star Bruce Willis, It has an amazing cast and its haled as one of the best sci fi movies of the 90s.

Well said, even Randee Carreno & I have been suggesting Armageddon (1998) to Addie. Another LOTR actor is in this one, Liv Tyler (Arwen).

Alex Tan
>>100257816

Here's a heads up. Addie has already reacted to The Terminator (1984), Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Jurassic Park Trilogy, Jurassic World Trilogy, The Shawshank Redemption (1994), The Green Mile (1999), The Shining (1980), Die Hard Trilogy, The Dark Knight Trilogy, Interstellar (2014), Alien (1979), Aliens (1986), Gladiator (2000), The Martian (2015), Indiana Jones, Saving Private Ryan (1998), Back to the Future Trilogy, Forrest Gump (1994), E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982, not featured because she was dissatisfied with the editing of her reaction to the movie), It's A Wonderful Life (1946), A Christmas Story (1983), National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989), Silence of the Lambs (1991), Galaxy Quest (1999), V for Vendetta (2005), and the JJ Abrams Star Trek movies. And I wouldn't suggest anything that's purely horror to her because she still closes her eyes and covers her ears during horror movie trailers in the theater. In fact The Shining was the scariest movie that she reacted to. She's also ophidiophobic (afraid of snakes) so I wouldn't suggest Sssssss (1973), Anaconda (1997) or Snakes on a Plane (2006) to her. She's already seen Titanic (1997) and the entire Harry Potter saga prior to starting her channel so those movies probably won't work.

You never can go wrong with a Jerry Bruckheimer film : Top Gun, Armageddon, The rock, Con Air, Coyote ugly.....

...and Days Of Thunder (1990), Bad Boys (1995), Bad Boys II (2003), Bad Boys For Life (2020), Crimson Tide (1995), Enemy of the State (1998), Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000, WARNING!: There's a minor SNAKE scene in this one.), Remember The Titans (2000), Pearl Harbor (2001), Black Hawk Down (2001), Bad Company (2002), Veronica Guerin (2003), King Arthur (2004), National Treasure (2004), National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007), National Treasure: Edge of History (2022 Disney+ TV Series), Glory Road (2006), Deja Vu (2006), Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009), Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010), The Sorcerer's Apprentice (2010), The Lone Ranger (2013), 12 Strong (2018), & Gemini Man (2019). She has seen Top Gun (1986) & Top Gun: Maverick (2022).

Chris Tucker was amazing! I wish he had a bigger imdb list

Paul M

Great reaction! Interesting that the hero and villain never meet, or are even aware of eachother. (though you could make the case that Lee-Loo is actually the hero). And I second the votes for Rush Hour

Hok'Tar

All 3 Rush Hour movies are fantastic. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan are amazing together

RocktSurgeon

I like to describe it as “extremely French”. I think that covers it pretty well, personally. Such a great movie!

JerichoFalls

Lucky Number Slevin would be a fun BW movie while we are at it. Maybe some RED too. Glad you like it!

RocktSurgeon

Oh and the language was made up by the director Luc Besson, had I believe a couple hundred words, and he and the actress Jovovich talked to each other in it on set to “practice”. And Besson left his wife for then 19yo Jovovich.

The Chris Tucker part was actually written for Prince but he turned it down. I guess we can thank him? 😄
