I've had a few recommendations to watch Daredevil Season 1 before checking out She-Hulk. Should I / do you want me to watch Daredevil S1 next? I've had sooooo many people tell me to watch Daredevil over the last few months and want to know your thoughts! (I would only commit to Season 1 for now)

Great show. Amazing if you’re looking for some good Marvel. Not necessary though.

Deadstar

I personally say yes to season 1, even though I don't think it's truely necessary, just gives you a good background who Daredevil is, season 2 and beyond, Jessica Jones (even though season 1 is one of my favorites), Iron Fist and Luke Cage absolutely not necessary, I would even say stay clear of them.

aarswft

I think if you know who Daredevil is that's enough for She-Hulk, they aren't necessarily connected at this point besides the actor, but selfishly I'd enjoy your reactions to Daredevil.

Alex Tan

Happy Sunday, Addie. Yes, Daredevil would make a great reaction for your channel. No, I don't think it would be a requirement to watch She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Isaac

Daredevil is a blast, 100% recommend it and plus it's part of the MCU. The whole first Season is based of The Man Without Fear by Frank Miller with elements of another comic. Man Without Fear pretty much added depth to his origin similar to Frank Miller's Batman: Year One so if you're a fan of Batman then you'll no doubt love Daredevil. It's pretty isolated from the events of the movies and just takes place in the background of everything so don't worry about having to re-watch any past MCU film.

Daredevil is awesome, but you don't really need to watch it for She-Hulk context. Once you start Daredevil you won't want to stop, and that leads directly into The Punisher series.

Patrick Egan

Season 1 of Daredevil isn’t really necessary to enjoy She-Hulk. But it’s one of the best seasons of television ever made, so OMG YES WATCH IT :) WARNING - I think Disney+ did something weird with the subtitles when they took it over from Netflix, if you turn on the full English subtitles you might not get the translations when people are speaking a foreign language. I know some reactors watch with the subtitles on, so be aware.

ElDoritos97

I mean...you have already seen Matt in No Way Home even before seen the Daredevil show. And even you already know Kingpin in Hawkeye finale......😅 But if you wanna see the Daredevil in action, you should see the first season before She-hulk.

MattyK

Daredevil is awesome, not NECESSARY by any means, but it’s genuinely just a great season of a show. Jessica Jones s1 as well. Honestly, based on how you’ve reacted to various other stuff, I feel like Jessica Jones is up your alley

Eddie

Tough one. Watching Daredevil is a plus, but you can still follow She-Hulk w/o it. Daredevil is not the centerpiece of this show. With the Spider-Man cameo you at least get a hint of his character.

Cole Jennett

As a number of people have said, it’s not necessary, but it won’t hurt either.😊

Rich

Please don't. It's the same actor but a different version of him

Richard Maurer

Hard disagree about Luke Cage. In fact I think she should watch all of Netflix Marvel. It's easily the best Marvel content outside the MCU.

Deadstar

Luke Cage even though it's well written is probably one of the most boring shows in the Netflix Marvel catalog

Richard Maurer

You should be watching all the Netflix Marvel series anyway, as they're (mostly) great, but yes it would definitely be better to watch at least one season of Daredevil before She-Hulk.

Tony Sanson

I'll echo everyone else that watching Daredevil isn't absolutely necessary, but it's still a great show and may give you more context into who Matt and Kingpin are.

Nathan Swapp

In terms of the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Netflix stuff can all be skipped.

Bryan Fritchie

I'd say you should watch Daredevil anyway. And if you're going to watch it, watch everything in order. And actually, watching Daredevil will help with several things in the MCU.

TheGuy

I've never completely watched any of the Netflix stuff, tried to, just boring, not the same level as real MCU content.

Brian Leonard

Definitely watch season 1, but I see no reason to watch more than that unless you really want to.

Fawks

Maximum hype. Apparently, this show is old enough to warrant debate about its quality. Which is insane because when it came out after such a high of Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy, it was still like an oh shit here we go moment as it kicked off the Defenders stuff. The film making and fight choreography is so far ahead of anything Disney+ has produced. I like the D+ shows for the most part but the Netflix stuff was next level. I think people have just forgotten or have become disallusioned since the continuity has come into question and they don't trust that he's really returning. But he is. Enjoy! I think you'll be surprised by how different it is and then surprised by how invested you'll get in that whole street-level world.

Steve SG-1

That's insane because I have the exact opposite opinion on the MCU tv side.

Duncan MacPhail

You've already watched Spider Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye. It probably doesn't matter which you watch first, but I think you will want to watch some Daredevil before Daredevil: Born Again comes out next year. Honestly, the entire Defenders saga is worth a watch. Proper watch order would be Daredevil season 1, Jessica Jones 1, Daredevil 2, Luke Cage 1, Iron Fist 1, The Defenders, Punisher 1, Jessica Jones 2, Luke Cage 2, Iron Fist 2, Daredevil 3, Punisher 2, Jessica Jones 3. Timeline-wise, these shows start right after Avengers (2012) and span right up to Avengers: Infinity War.

Steve SG-1

Daredevil is some of the best Marvel has put out while She-Hulk is some of the worst Marvel has put out. They are on the opposite ends of the spectrum.

Luis Fernandez

Watching Daredevil isn't necessary but it will add a little something to his cameos. It wasn't necessary to watch the X-Men movies before watching Multiverse of Madness, but it took a cameo from what might have been "uh I think that's some X-Men guy" to "OMG IT IS CHARLES!" Not saying the DD reaction will be anywhere close to that level, just pointing out that a little extra seasoning can make a big difference.

zynjams

Daredevil was my go to comic when I was in the Army. loved it, season 1 is amazing, season 2 not to much

Steven Weber

i agree, except for daredevil however. One of the best shows ive watched personally

Chris

Definitely do daredevil & definitely skip she-hulk lol. Jk but not really 😂

FearTheTREMOR

Yeah I think it's definitely worth it. Plus, you're already almost fully caught up with the MCU, so after that, you could start digging in more on the Defenders Saga, which definitely is worth it, as others have said. Watching Daredevil is a great time now to dip your toes in to the Defenders Saga, and you'll get some good context for She-Hulk.

PickettsChargingPort

S1 of daredevil isn't really required for she-hulk. That said, S1 of daredevil is definitely worth your time. In terms of she-hulk, it's worth a watch. I know some people didn't like it/hated it. To me most of that was unjustified - though different people like different things.

Cole Jennett

Agreed, I’m sure a few of the people who don’t like it have legit reasons. I can’t imagine Addie will have the same problems with it that triggered the hate though. I personally really liked it.

Andy Smith

I would recommend watching Daredevil S1, you will probably want to watch more too, the netflix series are really good even though they are outside the MCU. There are already a few "nods" or "corssovers" you missed in other reactions, similar to if you didn't watch the Xmen movies before deadpool. Nothing major, not groundbreaking but still those "Ah now I see" moments.

CheshireKat528

As others have said, Daredevil and other installments of the Defenders Saga are good shows, but they aren’t required to understand anything as it relates to the MCU at this time, especially since you have already seen versions of a couple those characters. Who knows if that will change, so yes, watching the Defenders Saga is a good idea and starting it now is as good a time as any. I need to to finish a few seasons of those shows myself. As someone else mentioned, just like the MCU and X-Men, there is a watch order of the different series and seasons you should follow in order to understand what is going on in the Defenders Saga. The shows are their own little universe and connected to each other. I thought She-Hulk was fun and I am excited to see what think, but I can wait if you want to get a season of Daredevil under your belt 😜😁

George Baxter

The first season is enough! The rest is still great but a few reactors have got bogged down in the Netflix shows and I'd rather you kept up on the fresher Marvel Universe

Cole Jennett

Plus, she’s nearly caught up, so there’s always time if she wants to delve into them afterwards. I’m cool if she does the first season of Daredevil, I’m still catching up on my full length watch thru anyways😂

LightsCameraJake

I personally dont think its necessary to watch Daredevil or any of the defenders saga for anything related to the MCU. There is only and a couple of good shows, some of them cancelled and the ones coming to the MCU are rewritten anyway and their characters are toned down to fit the Disney kid friendly narrative of what ever they are doing in this MCU at current. You are now in the part of the MCU that is not so great. So maybe Daredevil will can make up for how bad the MCU is now from a reaction standpoint.

Fawks

MILD SPOILER (this whole thread is already one but still) While nobody seems to think it's necessary to watch, it certainly will be soon. Like the X-Men stuff, there is quite a lot of it and Addie is already deep into the X-Men dive. And we've already seen 2 FoX-Men show up in MCU things. Might as well start the Defender dive now because those characters are returning. It's already confirmed. The Netflix music is literally in She-Hulk. It's him. It's not a variant. I'm sure Born Again will be a soft reboot but the keyword there is soft. If there aren't nods and references to the Netflix shows, it will be a failure no matter how good the show is otherwise. Imagine if in No Way Home, Tobey and Willem were merely playing variants of their iconic characters. Their character inclusions would've been completely pointless. Now will Disney+ ruin these legacy characters? I don't know, they might try. But I would really like to think whoever has the reigns is a fan of the old stuff.

Rich

I know watch daredevil is winning the poll but but it's not necessary to watch a non MCU show to understand She Hulk for a character that's only there for a few minutes. You haven't taken a detour like this yet on your MCU journey so I ask why start now? There are multiple characters from the Netflix show that will not be on Disney plus. It's not the exact same daredevil. If you want to watch it that's great but please consider waiting till after you're caught up with the actual MCU

Fawks

She watched 5 Spider-Man movies and 8 X-Men movies so far that weren't MCU. And the way she's reacted to No Way Home and Multiverse of Madness, I think she'd agree it was worth getting to know a character before a triumphant cameo. Now how is watching shows that were clearly meant to be set within the MCU a detour in comparison. Also you don't know it's a different Daredevil. You're either assuming the worst or hoping for the worst. All signs point to it's THE Daredevil. Same actor same music same villain actor.

Rich

Yes those movies have been watched but none of that has made the MCU be on pause. That's personally my preference for it to keep going. I'm sure daredevil is a fine show. But they are filming now and Charlie Cox himself says it's not the same character. I'm not assuming anything, I'm going on what he said. Either way the poll is what is and I'll have to deal with that or pause my membership till the MCU resumes.

Armando Castillo

Watch all of daredevil but the defenders is in between season 2 and 3. But it is an amazing show
