Good list, can't really go wrong with any of these 👍

QuiGon_Jim

I'd love for you to watch 'The Banshees of inisherin' at some point, it'll never win a poll but it definitely worth a watch

QuiGon_Jim

Also, Braveheart is the best film on this list by a country mile!

Seth Brower

voted for Kingdom of Heaven, but I'll agree this is one of the few times when the Directors Cut REALLY changes the story/characters/overall quality of a movie for the better.

Cole Jennett

Addie, imo Braveheart is the best movie by a long ways, but you can’t go wrong watching it, Hacksaw Ridge, and Fury. All 3 are YouTube views gold!

David Bennett

Any of these films are good choices Addie. My TOP recommendations are Glory and Master & Commander. Both of those films move me each and every time I watch them. Wonderfully acted and skillfully shot, they bring their respective historical periods into sharp relief.

Rich

Random question. Is a country mile farther than a "regular" mile?

Randee Carreno

Happy Tuesday, Addie! 😊 All fantastic movie choices for this poll. Ultimately, "Glory" ended up getting my vote. But you can't go wrong with any of these. Have a great day today! 😊

Alex Tan

Happy Tuesday, Addie. All are great choices but a Mel Gibson double feature is in your future with Braveheart (1995) & Hacksaw Ridge (2016). #MoreMelGibsonForAddieCounts

Alexis

Braveheart is a great movie, just don't watch it thinking it's even remotely historically accurate (this includes the battle scenes... in fact *especially* the battle scenes).

QuiGon_Jim

Been a while since I've looked it up, but yes.. its a little bit longer than a mile. I'm pretty sure (could be very wrong) that's its an old English way of measuring and the term just stuck around. (Now, that could be all bullshit that I was fed years ago too)

LightsCameraJake

Hacksaw Ridge is hands down one of the best true stories out there and one of Andrew Garfields best performances 👌 Hope it wins. My grandfather served in the 307th regiment with Dezmond Doss. This is why I hold this movie close to my heart and forever be my memorial day movie to watch. My Grandfather's name is etched in some bricks on our town Square under a statue of some soldiers fighting to hold up the U.S Flag under fire.

Billy Dancel

Glad to see Glory in a poll again. But against Master and Commander and Hacksaw Ridge I can see it finishing close to the bottom again. I’m actually okay with that. I’ll patiently wait for its turn.

Greg S.

Master and Commander please :)

LightsCameraJake

To be fair, the directors cut was made in protest to the writers direction of Deckard. Ridley Scott made the directors cut to add in his own context to things that I won't spoil until if or when addie watches it, but if you are familiar then you know what i mean. The final cut is like a good middle ground of the ongoing debate of that movie. The "agree to disagree cut" is what it should been called 😂😂😂

Mr. Writhms

This is a great list of war movies. 👍 For a future war poll, please add Francis Ford Coppola's "Apocalypse Now" (1979). It is considered one of the best films ever made. The documentary about the making of the film, "The Heart of Darkness" (1991) is a great film on its own-- including footage shot on location by Coppola's wife Eleanor.

Richard Maurer

It seems unlikely that Kingdom of Heaven will win, but I'll add to the comments saying the director's cut is the way to go just in case it pulls an unlikely come from behind victory.

Chris

How bout Dragged Across Concrete 🙌

Koala

I love Hacksaw Ridge but Kingdom of Heaven is my all-time favourite!

Fawks

Man, who knew Addie would love war movies so much. What's next, gangster flicks? If so, I'm voting The Departed.

Tom W.

I'm still holding out for "Sixteen Candles".

Alex Tan

That works too. I'm also holding out for Addie to watch the Lethal Weapon film series & Conspiracy Theory (1997), all directed by Richard Donner (RIP).

Alex Tan

If it's action/thriller flicks, I would suggest Crimson Tide (1995), The Rock (1996), Con Air (1997), Armageddon (1998), Enemy of the State (1998), Gone in Sixty Seconds (2000), Pearl Harbor (2001), Bad Company (2002), King Arthur (2004), National Treasure (2004), National Treasure: Book of Secrets (2007), and Deja Vu (2006), all produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, as well as Bullitt (1968), The French Connection (1971), The Fugitive (1993), Speed (1994) & Ronin (1998).

2026-09-06 15:00 Got to be Glory for me. Nice old fashioned movie with solid cast. I've always despised Mel Gibson so stuff him. Kingdom of Heaven and Master & Commander are impressively made. Fury and Hacksaw Ridge are basically Call if Duty with more CGI and an obsession with gore. War-movie wise I'm always going to tout for Big Red One, and maybe even Utu (1983).

100% I am mainly against non-theatrical releases for first time watches. But in the case of KoH it’s just so much better of a movie then the theatrical.

LightsCameraJake

Honestly, these votes are close enough that I hope she watches both hacksaw and Braveheart 😎

Pokeysaurus

Makes me sad she probably wont get to it for a long, long time.

Alex Tan

Those work too.

James Hawkins

Oh come on Hacksaw! What an excellent movie! I too agree that I hope Addie watches both these top two poll winning films!

LightsCameraJake

Im honeslty kind of shocked Braveheart is doing better than Hacksaw Ridge. I figured people would want to the two true story movies on this poll to win. Glory and Hacksaw are some of the best out there but people love their fantasy i guess. :(

Richard Maurer

While both films are approaching done to death status as far as reactions go, I'll still watch a Hacksaw Ridge reaction more often than Braveheart.

LightsCameraJake

Youd be surprised the amount of Scotsman who absolutely hate this movie in how poorly it represents their country and their history of this person. It very ignorantly Americanized. As with what Richard said, i do agree, this film only wins because its among the trendy overdone films in reaction communities nobody is willing to watch anything different which makes a lot of reaction content just very repetitive and burns people out from watching sometimes.

Alex Tan

I'm open for her to watch Martin Scorsese's Mean Streets (1973).

Richard Maurer

@ LightsCameraJake - I'll give you that Braveheart is highly embellished, but Hacksaw Ridge and Glory aren't exactly historically pure either. Basically all historical dramas are not historically accurate, if they were they'd be documentaries.

James Hawkins

Damn, first time commenting here and I started a debate, sorry about that everybody. Thanks for keeping it a civil discussion though :)

Richard Maurer

@ James - Without the debates reactor comment sections would be pretty boring, so no problem here.
