Help me choose an animated movie to watch next before I get into a few somewhat scary movies for October!

Oh it's GOT to be Iron Giant, especially now that you've watched Ready Player One :) But in all seriousness, Iron Giant is a wonderful film, and one I think you'll really enjoy.

Billy Dancel

John Powell who did the music for How to Train Your Dragon also does the music for Kung Fu Panda.

Randee Carreno

Happy Tuesday, Addie! 😊 All great animated movie choices for this poll. For me it was a tie between "Kung Fu Panda" and "Iron Giant". I ended up going with "Iron Giant". Have a great day today! 😊

Happy Tuesday, Addie. All are great choices but I would love a THREE-WAY tie between The Iron Giant (1999), Kung Fu Panda (2008), & Big Hero 6 (2014). #MoreThreeWayPollTiesForAddieCounts BTW, I also vote for Elemental (2023) because my girlfriend & I just rewatched that movie on Disney+, last Sunday, and we both enjoyed it.

Alex Tan

REMINDER!: If you EVER watch The Exorcist (1973), should it win a horror movie poll in October, I STRONGLY recommend the Extended Director's Cut (AKA: The Version You've Never Seen) that came out in 2000.

The Iron Giant is a perfect, lovely, beautiful movie.

zynjams

big hero 6 surprised me how good it was

Iron Giant does not get enough love, Kung Fu Panda wins every poll in every community. Let's Give Iron Giant some love folks ❤️

Bryan Fritchie

All of them except Elemental should tie for 1st. lol

"Somewhat scary." I have a great "somewhat scary" animated film recommendation for you, Addie, since we're on the subject of animated films. Have you ever heard of 2009's Coraline? It was originally a book by Neil Gaiman. If you have not seen it, it is a trip, and one of those rare movies that, I think, is different from anything else. Check it out if you haven't seen it.

Also, for some reason, Patreon is not letting me cast my vote, so, if it continues to fight me, just to let you know, although I'll always have a special place in my heart for The Iron Giant, I cast my vote for The Lego Movie.

Ever consider having a classic animated movie poll? Here are some classics that could be on it: Transformers: The Movie (1986) The Last Unicorn (1982) Titan AE (2000) Watership Down (1978) Heavy Metal (1981) Akira (1988)

Luis Fernandez

There's a special place in my heart of The Secret of NIMH (1982)

Alex Tan

Kung Fu Panda is also co-composed by Hans Zimmer as well, who did music for The Dark Knight Trilogy & Pirates of the Caribbean.

Alex Tan

I would also throw in Disney's Dinosaur (2000), Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001), & Treasure Planet (2002).

Byrd N. Hand

How about some animated films from major directors? Steven Spielberg's "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn." Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride" and "Frankenweenie" (for October). Robert Zemeckis' "The Polar Express" (for December)... maybe also "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (though that's actually a live-action/animation combo). Richard Linklater's "Waking Life" and "A Scanner Darkly." Just to name a few.

Alex Tan

Those scandals were why it happened.

Alex Tan

I second all of these. I would love to see Addie watch Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), soon.

Alex Tan

Yeah, but that one blooper in Toy Story 2 (1999) did say something about that.

Bryan Fritchie

Neither Turning Red nor Elemental were nearly as bad as the YouTubers made it out to be. In fact, I'm still not sure what the problem with Elemental is, as I never saw what they claimed. It was a decent movie, I just don't think it rises to the level of the other movies in this list.

QuiGon_Jim

If you want another Spielberg film starring Tom Hanks you should watch 'The Terminal' if you haven't seen it. A great film that never see anyone tall about.

Bryan Fritchie

The critique I heard about Elemental was a non-binary character, which I agree shouldn't be in a kids movie. That said, I didn't notice a non-binary character if there was one.

Alex Tan

Agreed. Addie would DEFINITELY love this movie.

Marko T.

The Iron Giant is great.
