January is just drivin' on by! Help me choose a movie to watch next! (If The Fast and the Furious wins, I'm not committing myself to all ten movies haha)

Alex Tan

Happy Thursday, Addie. All are great choices but my votes go to Days of Thunder (1990) & Gone in 60 Seconds (2000), both produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, as well as The Fast and the Furious (2001) & Ford v Ferrari (2019). However, I'm open to watching whatever wins.

Randee Carreno

Happy Thursday, Addie! 😊 As much as I love "Days of Thunder", "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" 100% got my vote. Such a fun movie with a great cast. Have a great day today! 😊

QuiGon_Jim

'Fast and Furious' is utter tripe. 'Ford v Ferrari' and 'Rush' are excellent films.

Alex Tan

Lol. Nice one, @PHILLIP CORNISH.

Bill W

F&F is the most mindless franchise of the last 20 yrs.

Alex Tan

Now that's an awesome one. Ronin (1998) is definitely my all-time favorite Robert De Niro movie. #RoninForAddieCounts

Doug

You should add Baby Driver to this list! 😄

Addie Counts

I saw that one in theaters! Do I remember it? Not really haha

Zack Parks

There’s an alternate universe out there where THE FAST & THE FURIOUS never made it past one movie and we’re now on ITALIAN JOB X.

Zachary

Rush is my favorite film but for reactions in ranking I would go. 1. Ford v. Ferrari 2. Gone in 60 Seconds 3. Rush 4. Talladega Nights 5. Days of Thunder 6. Drive 7. The Fast & The Furious (mostly because it's a large long franchise)

LightsCameraJake

I hope you keep putting Days of Thunder back in polls, it truely is a very fun Tom Cruise movie, it's just not doing good in this polls because of these other heavy hitter blockbusters. Hell even I voted for Ford Vs Ferrari as its a good retelling true story

aarswft

Drive, FvF, Talladega Nights.

sarCC

I do have to say...the first 2 Fast & Furious movies are horrendous. They don't become good/tolerable until the 3rd movie, peaking with Fast 5...then slowly falling off again with Fast X being one of the worst entries. But 3, 4, 5, and 6 are good, as are Hobbes & Shaw and Better Luck Tomorrow(a low budget prequel to the series)

Baldemort

Days of Thunder All the way! Not voting for F&F because of her not committing to the series if it wins. plus the first 3 movies are the worst in the series anyway.

Alex Tan

Maybe a rewatch reaction could help. #BabyDriverRewatchReactionForAddieCounts

Phil Stubblefield

If you don't enjoy the automotive eye candy, then I'd agree that the "Fast and Furious" franchise is pretty lame. However, the first film sometimes surprises people! I once watched it with a friend who had never seen it. When the movie started, his wife sat down on a nearby sofa to read a book, telling us "Go ahead, you won't bother me!" By the end of the movie, her book was long forgotten, and she was demanding we start the next movie so she could see where Paul Walker's story went... 😁

Phil Stubblefield

F&F mindless? Agreed. But the "most mindless franchise"? Have you actually been *watching* Hollywood's output over the last several decades?!? 😉

Phil Stubblefield

Agreed! _Ronin_ is such an overlooked movie! The car chase is probably my favorite one. (I actually suggested this film to Addie, although I doubt I was the only one...)

Bill W

What do you want to hear? Yes? No??

Phil Stubblefield

Uh, what??? 😵 You just stated the opposite of the opinion I've always heard: the first two F&F films are the *best* ones, and the third one in particular is horrendous! Ah, well, to each his (or her) own!

Alex Tan

Hear, hear. Days of Thunder (1990) is one of my favorite Tom Cruise movies. Kudos to Cassie & Carly from PiB for watching that movie. I'm also pushing for Addie to watch Days of Thunder as well. #DaysOfThunderForAddieCounts However, I also voted for Ford v Ferrari (2019) as well because that movie was awesome in IMAX.

Steve SG-1

The first FF movie is the best one by far, had the cultural impact on the car tuner scene, plus Rob Cohen is a good director. After that the series turns into what it turns into a franchise. That being said I didn't vote for that movie I picked something else.🤭

LionBro

Smokey and the Bandit

Randolph Tirazona

First off – I haven’t seen Talladega Nights albeit my friend says its good and funny. I haven’t I’ve seen Drive or Rush either. For myself – I’m recommending movies/shows where I think Addie would at least like! For myself again – I’m loving Addies pure joy and happiness with her reactions to ROCKY and Especially with Rocky 2! Don’t get me wrong as I love The Fast and Furious franchise, but I don’t think she’d enjoy it as much as I do! Therefore my first pick is Days of Thunder (1990) as I was easily pulled into that story! Great story too, least I forget the acting, etc.! The thunder in the theaters! That was unforgettable, unforgettable!!! I haven’t seen Talladega, but being a ‘Comedy’ and my friend saying its good and funny – that comedic part can easily make it very enjoyable! So with that I would pick Talladega 2nd. I love Gone in 60 Seconds! But ‘the story overall’ isn’t as satisfying or ‘attracting’ as the others! That’s my 2 cents! 😺Addie!!! 😺

Doug

Whether or not Addie watches it again, it’s definitely one of the best car-chase centric movies of all time. 🙂

Steve Mercier

Drive's not going to win...but Drive all the way.

Zachary

Baby Driver should definitely be on this list!!!

Alex Tan

John C. Reilly was in both Days of Thunder (1990) & Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Rocky Bobby (2006). #MoreJohnCReillyForAddieCounts

Alex Tan

Speaking of Rob Cohen, I also suggest Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story (1993), DragonHeart (1996), Daylight (1996), The Skulls (2000), xXx (2002), Stealth (2005), The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008), Alex Cross (2012), The Boy Next Door (2015) and The Hurricane Heist (2018). #MoreRobCohenForAddieCounts

BubblyRainbows

Well, my vote had to go to "Gone in 60 Seconds," since it's the only movie there that I have seen, have a copy of so I can rewatch, and actually liked (thus I can watch the full-length reaction). I haven't seen "Rush," "Ford vs. Ferrari", or "Drive," and we don't own any of those three on DVD, Blu-Ray or Digital. "Days of Thunder" and "Fast and the Furious" were okay, but not my cup of tea personally (and we don't own those either), and I had a... well, let's just say a non-positive reaction to "Talidega Nights," so personally, I'm not interested in a rewatch. However, I know for certain that all of those movies have lots of fans, so I'm sure whichever one wins, you'll enjoy watching. And that's the most important part!

QuiGon_Jim

100% yes.. and if we're doing some old car flicks: 'Cannon Ball Run' 1+2

Clay F

The top 3 for me are: *Ford v Ferrari (2019) *Rush (2013) [awesome acting by Christopher Hemsworth] *Drive (2011) Honorable mention goes to Talladega Nights. Skip F&F.

Clay F

I agree. Skip F&F. 'Ford v Ferrari' and 'Rush' are excellent.

Clay F

Rotten Tomatoes: Gone in 60 Seconds - 25% Rush - 88% Ford v Ferrari - 92% Drive - 93% Days of Thunder - 38% Talladega Nights - 71% F&F (2001) - 54%

Alex Tan

And while we're at it, Bullitt (1968) & The French Connection (1971).

Ali D

I can’t believe Ford vs Ferrari is actually winning 😍 It’s normally so underrated - must be a sign of excellent quality patrons on here!

Jacob King

The Fast and Furious franchise is deeply weird. The first one is just a cheap knockoff version of Point Break. It would be skippable if not for what happened next. Which is, they just kept making more. Between three and four it morphed into an ouroboros and started eating itself. Fast Five is one of the best action heist movies of all time, a real triumph, and then they kept making them. Between six and seven the whole thing had collapsed in on itself with ludicrous soap opera plots on and off screen and they kept making them. This is just to say if you’re going to watch one it should be the fifth one and the only reason anyone should watch the first one is if they already intend to watch all ten (eleven cause Hobbes and Shaw).

Jacob King

Talladega Nights is excellent but exists in multiple versions. The American theatrical, the extended, and the international, so it’s a pain for international audiences to do a watch along.

QuiGon_Jim

Mad Max: Fury Road for the ultimate "vroom vroom" action film.

Byrd N. Hand

I've never seen it, but I'd wager the original '70s version of "Gone in 60 Seconds" is probably better than the Nicolas Cage remake. If you want other '70s car-related flicks, there's also "Vanishing Point;" "Two-Lane Blacktop;" "Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry;" and "The Driver" (starring the recently-deceased Ryan O'Neal). I'll also throw out Quentin Taratino's "Death-Proof," which references a lot of the aforementioned titles.

Clay F

Thanks for the advice. I have intentionally avoided F&F, but now may watch Fast Five. I see that the critics liked it better than others. "Sleek, loud, and over the top, Fast Five proudly embraces its brainless action thrills and injects new life into the franchise."

Clay F

Mad Max: Fury Road is stunning. Won 6 Oscars. Definitely action-packed.

Alex Tan

Another car-related movie that I would also add to a future car-themed movie poll is Gran Turismo (2023). #GranTurismoForAddieCounts Please keep adding Days of Thunder (1990) and Gone in 60 Seconds (2000) on other polls as well. You should also consider watching both 1974 & 2000 versions of Gone in 60 Seconds so you can decide for yourself which version you prefer.

Alex Tan

PiB also watch Ford v Ferrari (2019). You're not alone @Ali D because even I'm seeing some patrons wanting Addie to watch more excellent quality movies. I, on the other hand, fall somewhere in between because I mostly suggest movies that I enjoy, no matter what anyone says, and was also trying to get her to watch movies that she's not familiar with and decide for herself whether she enjoys them or not. I was very happy when Armageddon (1998) won the last poll because myself, @Randee Carreno & @LightsCameraJake have been suggesting that movie to her after she watched The Green Mile (1999) & The Fifth Element (1997). And to my surprise, she enjoyed it and I was very happy that she did.

Ali D

Ssshhhh! 😂 Take the wins as they come!

Luis Fernandez

Death Proof was a fun fun film, but it may be a bit much for Addie. Although she did enjoy the "Killer of Men" title in the Jumanji films, so she may enjoy it after all.

Luis Fernandez

I haven't seen Gran Turismo yet, but every time I hear that title I think about Gran Torino (2008), which isn't really about the car but it still a pretty good movie.

Alex Tan

I second Gran Torino (2008). #GranTorinoForAddieCounts

ivica

Fast & Furious for sure!!!
