After watching The Big Lebowski, I realized I haven't seen a lot of the Coen Brothers' movies! Help me choose what to watch next! (I have already watched No Country for Old Men on the channel)

Fargo is amazing & the tv show is just as good (at least the first couple seasons, the rest are debatable)

QuiGon_Jim

'O Brother Where Art Thou' is my pick. It's a brilliant film! 'Fargo' is a very close second. Also, it's great to see 'Burn After Reading' is on your radar. That film doesn't get enough love.

Happy Thursday, Addie! 😊 As much as I want for you to see "True Grit", "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" ended up with my favorite. Can't go wrong with George Clooney in that movie. Have a great day today! 😊

Alex Tan

Happy Thursday, Addie. All are great choices but my votes go to Fargo (1996), O Brother, Where Art Thou (2000) & True Grit (2010). I also suggest Hail, Caesar! (2016). #MoreCoenBrothersForAddieCounts

Aldo Gonzales

I didn’t realize that you haven’t seen O Brother Where Art Thou. That’s definitely getting my vote.

Alex Tan

Speaking of George Clooney, two other Coen Brothers movies that I would also suggest for a future poll are Intolerable Cruelty (2003) & Hail, Caesar! (2016). #MoreGeorgeClooneyAndCoenBrothersForAddieCounts

Clay F

My top 3 in order are: Fargo (1996) True Grit (2010) O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000)

This is hard. You don't know what you're doing to my psyche to commit to a decision like this: 1. Fargo (for the performances by Wm. H Macy and Francis McDormand and Steve Buscemi. Also, consider checking out the TV show); 2. O Brother, Where Art Thou (for the story, brilliance of the main characters, and the music); 3. Raising Arizona (Nicholas Cage and Holly Hunter at their very best, Cage's over-the-top narration tied with the soundtrack put this at the top of Coen comedy outings); 4. Burn After Reading (Clooney again, Brad Pitt in the role of his lifetime. The Coen's have a knack for making genre films (crime noir, detective fiction, spy thrillers) and populating them with idiots and making it work); 5. True Grit (Give me Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and Hayleigh Steinfeld ANY DAY over John Wayne, Glen Campbell, and Kim Darby).

All good movies; for some reason “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” is my favourite of them. Noted that a few other Coen Brothers movies (besides the one Addie already reacted to) are not on the poll, but most of the popular are definitely there. I don’t think many have seen/heard of “A Serious Man”; it’s a really good under appreciated movie.

Raising Arizona is the very underrated comedy that set their style in motion.

Mr. Writhms

Best poll ever! I voted only once, for "True Grit" because "Fargo" and "O, Brother..." don't need my help. I'm hoping all 3 finish close. Jeff Bridges' performance is too good to miss. And If you're ever interested in seeing another good gangster movie, check out the Coen Bros' "Miller's Crossing".

Myoclonic Jerk

Fargo is an excellent movie and deserves the votes it is getting. But I came from up there and that movie gives me cringey feelings of home.

BubblyRainbows

I have very unhelpfully voted for all of them, because Coen Bros...

LightsCameraJake

That yields the same result of not voting at all. 😂😂😂 but I feel you on that.

sarCC

Raising Arizona, all the way! It's such a bright, unpredictable, sweet, funny, and unique comedy and the cast gives the best performances of their careers. My favorite Coen Bros movie by a wide margin.

Rogue_ML

there is no wrong answer.. so go chronologically and watch all of them..

Mr. Writhms

You are so right. If there were ever a case where Addie should watch everything on a poll, this is the one. Too many good choices. "Damn... We're in a tight spot!"

LaserLamb

We're basically just picking what order Addie's gonna be watching them in, so just whittle your choices down to the 2 or 3 you want her to watch first!😁

Happy Hanukkah

I've been occasionally pushing for Intolerable Cruelty elsewhere. It's a fun Coen take on the classic screwball comedies and also stars Catherine Zeta-Jones. (It's been speculated that its off-putting name mistakenly kept some people away.)

BubblyRainbows

It was useless to vote for everything, but not pointless. 😁 I support them all! I won't be sad no matter what wins!

BlakeK80DrumCovers

Plrase dear god, O' brother, whrere art thou... Has to be :)

Doug

Fargo is my favorite Coen Brothers movie, followed by No Country for Old Men. 🙂 Raising Arizona is good too, though, it's a pretty crazy ride!

Tenn Seven

All great movies. You can't go wrong with this list. My favorite Coen Brothers movie, "Miller's Crossing" is missing, though! I highly recommend it when you inevitably want to watch more Coen Brothers!

Tenn Seven

I second "Miller's Crossing," my absolute favorite Coen Brothers movie.

james repka

Shouldn't that be a "winking" emoji?

carbsix

Write-in vote for Ballad of Buster Scruggs 🤣

Joe M

Burn after Reading is one of the Coen Brothers under rated once. Definitely consider it for the future.

Sora704

Write-in vote for The Magnificent Seven(2016)

Alex Vazquez

Blood Simple Barton Fink Miller's Crossing Raising Arizona The Hudsucker Proxy

"The events depicted in this film took place in Minnesota in 1987. At the request of the survivors, the names have been changed. Out of respect for the dead, the rest has been told exactly as it occurred."
