Young Royals S3 Ep. 1 hit the mark PERFECTLY, and I could not wait to watch Ep. 2. As usual, I am feeling that old familiar emotion from Seasons 1 & 2 of wanting to scream because there are only 6 episodes. Just doesn't seem like enough, but better than no season at all, I guess.

Here is the unedited, full-length version of my reaction to Episode 2, and I would love it if you watched along with me. Definitely be sure to let me know your thoughts about It if you do. I've provided the unblurred version up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/r59jUv7xBbk. For those watching the YouTube version, remember that you'll need your own copy of the episode to sync up.

Thanks as always for your incredible support, and I hope you have a great rest of the day/night!

I really love season 3. With the last scene of the episode, we can expect that something is about to go down soon. I feel bad for Wille, being only 16, having to deal with the loss of his brother, all the scandals, sick mother which might result in him being a king at only 18. One thing I don't like is, why didn't Royal Court sit Simon and Wilhelm down and explain everything they need to do now, what they should be cautious about. Wille is being put in uncomfortable position of being a bridge between Royal Court and Simon. I guess we need drama but it feels like Wille is slowly being push to his limits. (but also, I'm super glad we got to see some cute moments between Simon and Wille, they're precious because we didn't get that much of it last season ^^)

I love how you pointed out once they were out as a couple, they just were all over each other. I don't know if it was because the whole video scandal or trying to get Simon back all last season, but Wille just seems a lot more comfortable in his sexuality(as unlabeled as it is.) but he just seems more free with his emotions. For two seasons it has either been sad Wille, anxious Wille or hiding Wille.

Yes!!! Such a good point. And honestly, that's what I originally thought was happening in the opening scene of Episode 1. I thought it was going to be a joint family sit-down where they would discuss moving forward, what would like be coming down the pike and the Royal Court's plans for response, etc. But then I saw August with his fart face, and it hit me that this was something else. I'll tell you this much though- I'm on the edge of my seat!

@Pamela Chandler Rash - Yes!! I guess it's like any life-changing event where once it's done, you just feel free. But you are completely right about him looking like he was feeling the full weight of all the responsibility (but none of the control) of his situation. And I have to keep reminding myself that even though it seems like a long time has gone by, I guess we're still roughly covering a year in the show? Is that right?

A lot of people question why the Royal Court doesn't interject with Simon and his family and offer advisement. I don't think it's just for the sake of drama, as I believe there's careful intention behind every decision in the writing of this show. I've seen some people question whether the Royal Court does this on purpose because they're hoping the relationship will fail. I don't think it's that calculated by them though. I actually think the main reason they don't interject is because Wille doesn't want them to. When he and Farima are talking in the car in 3x01, she brings up their concern that Simon won't understand how to behave with social media, and Wille assures her that he has it "under control". And we can see in 3x02 how careful Wille is when he discusses the issue of the video Simon posted with him. He obviously knows that Simon is not going to put up with having his image controlled by the Royal Family (something he's always loved about Simon btw) and so he's probably afraid to let the Royal Court have too much interaction with him and feels safer being the middle man. I imagine Farima would've arranged a meeting with Simon and his family if Wille hadn't made it clear he was handling it. And I do think that the Court is probably not holding a lot of stock in the relationship working out which may be why they aren't really forcing the issue and allowing Wille to handle it, so long as Wille does what they say.

I love love LOVE how much you're loving these episodes. The "WHY ARE YOU NOT WATCHING THIS SHOW IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING THIS SHOW?!?" exclamation at the end was so real! 🤣 About the timeline - correct! We are still within 1 school year which blew my mind kinda when I realized it at the start of this season. So basically season 1 was like October-December, season 2 January-March, and season 3 April-June. ish. But you're also right that the actual filming of each season took place about a year a part. Omar (Simon) is one of the oldest in the cast at 25 but seems to age backwards somehow - not sure he's a real person. Edvin (Wille) I believe was the youngest and went from age 17 to 20. I do think he looks like a baby in S1 if you compare to S3, but it's not unrealistic as boys that age can change a lot even within one school year. Last thing - you mentioned Omar's music - YES - he has a ton and you should definitely check it out. Omar Rudberg. So so talented plus beautiful to look at (lots of great music videos on YT). He sings in English, Spanish, and Swedish and has a mix of styles - mostly pop/Latin but also plenty of beautiful ballads. I recommend "Dum" for some full body chills. He recently signed with an American record label so hoping he may start to get more of the recognition he deserves! 👏

David vs. Film

Thank you so much for the info, scarr!!! Yeah well I have to say that they have executed this brilliantly from a show-running perspective. I know I criticize Stranger Things pretty harshly for being on the OPPOSITE end of that spectrum, but Young Royals has consistently filmed, edited, and released each of the 3 seasons without (MIRACULOUSLY!) being affected by the excuses I hear from other shows like ST. Some even still blame Covid from 4 years ago lol. So anyway, that rant is just to say that I am beyond impressed with all elements of this show. I really would have thought Omar was one of the youngest, wow. And I mean as to his looks, I guess he's okkkkkkk..... (extreme sarcasm should be read into that). :) :) :) It's funny also with him because he was one of the first people I looked up when I came into this show, and because of that I had a hard time remembering his character name Simon because I keep wanting to call him Omar. Last thing I wanted to say is that this whole cast is just outstanding. I know I've said that before, but the acting really is great. And specifically, I say that because I can't tell they're acting. They feel like just regular, real people. No one overdoes it or underdoes it- they're all just great. Even the new Vanessa. lol

I couldn't agree more - they did a BRILLIANT job casting this show as everyone is amazing. But the fact that this was Omar's first acting role really just blows my mind. Apparently Simon was originally intended to be quite a different character, but when Omar came in and they saw him together with Edvin, they knew this was the couple and they re-wrote the character for Omar...I mean...WELL DONE team for making that call! I have no interest in imagining anyone else as Simon. But also, the chemistry between Edvin and Omar is insane so I definitely understand why that was the deciding factor! Oh, and on the subject of real people - you mentioned the actors feel like regular, real people because of the authenticity in their performances which I fully agree about. People often mention appreciating how the cast also looks like real people. Something I find funny is that apparently the makeup department had to add imperfections to Omar's face so he would look more real 🤯 Again, not a real person 🤣

David vs. Film

Yeah, those are really great points, scarr, thank you!! And that's also especially true what you said at the end about the relationship not working out.. to me watching this tv show, Wille/Simon are TRUE LOVE 4EVA in my mind lol. But realistically, this is to many in the Court I'm sure, just seen as a high school romance (though obviously with more of a spotlight considering one them is a Royal). Thinking of real life examples for comparison, I don't remember the British Royal Family issuing formal responses every time there was movement with or speculation about William and Kate, or bringing Kate's family over to Buckingham Palace for Monarchy Life 101, even though the whole world was watching their school romance at the time.
