Young Royals S3 Ep. 4 saw tensions continuing to rise, as well as a major (though somewhat expected) reveal within the last few seconds. Not to mention a sit-in that lasted all the way until hunger kicked in a mere hours later lol. These ain't no Ghandis up in Hillerska!

Here is the unedited, full-length version of my reaction to Episode 4, and I would love it if you watched along with me. Definitely be sure to let me know your thoughts about It if you do! I've provided the unblurred version up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/pVgGBUCgNhs. For those watching the YouTube version, remember that you'll need your own copy of the episode to sync up.

Thanks as always for your incredible support, and I hope you have a great rest of the day/night!

Ok so I'm sure I'm not the first one to tell you this- but there is an hour long documentary called Young Royals Forever that was released on Netflix when the finale came out, and I do definitely recommend you watch it (and hopefully react to it 🥺) because as someone who also really struggled with accepting this show coming to an end, I found it a very satisfying way to close it out. I mean I obviously haven't moved on from the show yet but getting to peak behind the scenes a bit after being emotionally wrecked by the series really does help I think! Quick thing to clarify: when the students talk about "the Palace" they don't mean the royal palace - it's what they call that place where they have all their parties. That confuses pretty much everybody! I'm finding it kind of refreshing the perspective that you have on Wille & Simon's relationship at this point. I would say across these first 4 episodes they have definitely been showing us both the happy/giddy/blissfully in love times and also moments of conflict, which like you said are ALL related to the external complications surrounding their relationship. For a lot of people I think those issues feel like they're looming over them throughout the season and doubt sets in. It's nice that you're able to focus on the more positive things we can see within their relationship apart from the external stuff, like when they support each other (or try to), communicate more openly (sometimes), and make compromises for the sake of the other (not always the best but does show how much they love each other). I think you might be in for some surprises with these last two episodes, and I truly wish you the best getting through them. Being as vague as possible, it's just...A LOT. Looking forward to it!! 😄🙃

Back again... I forgot to mention some thoughts on the queen. It's interesting you seem to like her as that is not the usual opinion I see. Some people express sympathy for her, especially with what she's going through this season, but most people see her in a pretty negative light because of how she interacts with Wilhelm. I have to say I am more in this camp as well. Do I think she has a tough role? Absolutely. Do I feel for her loss of her oldest son? 1000%. But I have been very unimpressed with her treatment of Wilhelm all 3 seasons. She is extremely cold to him and interacts with him not as a mother caring for her son's well-being but as a queen maintaining the image of the royal family, often to the detriment of her son's well-being. I understand that as queen this is something she has to do, but I would think she should be a mother before a queen when it comes to her children. Wilhelm has been going THROUGH it this past year (throughout the 3 seasons) and all we've seen her do is control and manipulate him in order to maintain the proper image (e.g., not telling him in s1 that it was August who leaked the tape so that he would deny it was him) and add increasingly more pressure onto him (e.g., comparing him to Erik/bringing him up at every opportunity). This season she is basically not talking to him which means all he can assume is that he caused her breakdown because of what he said in his speech, and when she did talk to him on the phone in ep 3 she said in tears, "what if I can't do this and then you'll have to...what if you can't..." effectively playing into his guilt and making him feel pressure to handle it because she can't. So unfair to put all of that on a 16 year old. Like it's wild to me. Yes, please get the help you need for yourself but do NOT leave your son out to dry and continue to turn a blind eye to his struggle. Please and thank you Queen Mama 👑🙏👑

Also wanted to point out Wille's response to Simon during their discussion about the monarchy...Simon points out to him that he had no say in having to take on this role, and says "what kind of life is that?" We've watched Wille struggle with being a royal ever since s1 ep1, even before becoming Crown Prince. So this is obviously a very poignant question for him. And yet his response is, "it's a privilege, not a punishment," which is the very statement we heard his mother say to him in one of the very first scenes of the series when Wilhelm is being forced to give an apology for getting into a fight, and again in s1 ep6 when she is trying to convince him he needs to deny it was him in the video rather than be open about his relationship with Simon. I wasn't sure if you caught that he used this same phrase but I think it is a very interesting choice by the writers and important piece of character development for Wilhelm at this point in the story.

I love how much you love the show and these characters 💜 To answer your question, Simon is 16 and Wille is about to turn 17 :) Vincent was drawing a self-portrait in the dirt 🤭 Funny story, Omar revealed that during the lollipop scene, they actually filmed a few takes with Wille and Simon sharing the lollipop and Henry looking between them with envy LMAO. So sad they had to cut that. Oh man, your quote about Simon being put in a cage for safety but having his wings clipped is so spot on! And it’s so heartbreaking to watch. He’s trying his best because he loves Wille so much, but it’s killing him. It’s heartbreaking because, despite their differences, they work so beautifully together when it’s just them. But Wille being the Crown Prince just will not allow them any peace. They’re trying so hard to make it work, but the external pressures never end 😔 I saw that Erik reveal coming but OOF. Wille has been trying so hard to live up to his role as crown prince, for the sake of his mom’s health, and to honor Erik, the one person in his family that made him feel loved. And now Wille’s not even sure Erik would have loved him anymore bc of who he is. Just like Simon and Sara, his whole idea of his beloved brother has been shattered. If you want rollercoaster drama, strap in for the final two eps!! 🫣 So glad you don’t have to wait a week to watch the series finale like we did 😭 Imho it’s one of the best finales of any show I’ve ever seen. Enjoy! #JusticeForAnnette

Oh GOD! Well I was feeling pretty good up until that last part haha. Thank you for the clarification on the Palace, btw. I'm with you now! Yeah I definitely thought they meant Queen Mama's digs. I just love them so much as a couple, but I'm already preparing myself for anything and everything. I have pretty much ruled out the crazy, like Wille saying his an alien or Simon having a brain tumor, but I'm still on guard for anything! Re: the documentary, I HAVE heard about it, but I'm glad you recommend. My thought is to do that as a Patreon exclusive :)

Oh I am SO glad you brought this up! Yes, so thank you for the opportunity to clarify.. I love Queen Mama the same way I love any campy, stylized, over-the-top female character of a certain age lol. She is a literal drama Queen, and I'm totally here for the role she plays in the overall story. But much like any of my favorite "queens", please don't mistake that I support her and her actions. With her, I'm more about the drama. And let's face it, girl you're kinda playing this headache card to the max. I didn't see you popping an Advil when you were riding (in style) in the car and basically absolving August of his actions by making him NEXT IN LINE after your son. And basically using your golden child to make your other child feel guilty and inadequate (total Kris Jenner move, btw). So yeah, I'm totally on board with getting some Queen Mama sreen time, but only because I love drama lol

Girl. Where do I even begin with your comment! haha. Ok so I'll actually begin at the end- the #JusticeForAnnette cause a literal laugh out loud, so thank you for that. Thanks also on the ages and and other literal lol about the self-portrait of Vincent. hahahaha. Also, I love that you spotlighted the two angles of Simon and what he's dealing with, followed by Wile and his brother. While I am loving what Edvin Ryding has done with the character of Wille (specifically his frustration of his position and reconciling the death of his brother), I FEEL Simon's pain. I am seriously not trying to take anything away from Edvin's brilliant work, but there's just something so real about how Omar embodies the character of Simon to me. I am both excited about and dreading the next two!!! I haven't decided if I want to watch tomorrow or Weds, but it will be this week.
