S'UP Awesome Patrons?? Hacksaw Ridge was the winner of the Memorial Day poll earlier this week against Flags of Our Fathers, and let me just tell you that I needed a good 3 episodes of Friends to shake it off before going to bed. This was an INSANELY EXCELLENT war movie, brutal in its depictions of battle, and I was just transfixed the entire time. The performances alone blew me away, and the fact that it was a true story was even more incredible.

Here are the links for the unedited, full-length version of my reaction, and I would love it if you watched along with me. Definitely be sure to let me know your thoughts about the film if you do! The unblurred version can be found up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/q77ICk8-Zd8 (for those watching the YouTube version, remember that you'll need your own copy of the movie to sync up).

Thanks again as always for your incredible support, and I hope you have a great rest of the day/night!

Daviiiiid!! So glad you liked it! It's one of my favorites and underrated in my opinion. Be well! Kevin

David vs. Film

Hey Kevin!! Yeah, I totally agree. I mentioned something to that effect in the post-watch commentary, that I was surprised I hadn't heard more about Hacksaw when it came out. I remember at the time knowing that it was Andrew Garfield starring in a war film, but that's about it. And then I don't remember friends, etc., talking about it much, so I never saw it. Glad I got to here with you guys though! Thanks buddy :)

I don't hear people talk about Andrew Garfield often, and we should all be talking about him constantly. He is amazingly gifted. Have you seen the FX/Hulu miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven? He plays a tortured Mormon detective really well. Great reaction to this one. I'd avoided it until now because I was never in the mood for something this heavy, but I felt more comfortable watching it "with you." Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

David vs. Film

Aww thank you :). And TOTALLY agree! The first thing I remember specifically seeing him in was Never Let Me Go. If you haven't seen it, that's one of those movies where it's like "the less you know going in, the better", but it's him and Carey Mulligan (LOVE) and Keira Knightley. He was so, so good. I don't think I've even heard of Under the Banner of Heaven, but I'll take a look :)
