'SUP Awesome Patrons! If you're in the market to sob uncontrollably in the middle of the work week, I have just the thing for you: Marc's and my reaction to Philadelphia! We were really enjoying the first half of the movie, a courtroom drama centered around the themes of AIDS and discrimination, but then the WHEELS JUST CAME OFF the emotional wagon at the end and ran right over us. Completely heartwrenching!!

I've provided the full version of our reaction with the original content and commentary up top (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the muted, watchalong version can be found here: https://youtu.be/hlMCEi2ojGE. (Keep in mind those of you opting for the watch along version will need your own copy of the movie to sync up.)

Thanks as always for your incredible support, and I hope you have a wonderful rest of the day!

Ooh, gonna start right now. Btw, have you guys seen the film Pride (2014) that takes place in the UK? I think it's a great film for a reaction this month if you haven't (or just wanna check it out on your own).

Oh Marc, none of us make it out of the hospital room scene without ugly crying 😭 Andy’s family are all so wonderful, it makes the final scene so much more sad, yet comforting bc you know he was loved. Great reaction as always! Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈

David vs. Film

Thanks!! It's on the list!! Especially now that I've been seeing more UK stuff. I don't think Marc knows anything about it at all. If I am not able to work it in this year, probably next. I want to watch for the channel for sure vs on our own.

David vs. Film

Thank you so much!! I'll make sure Marc sees your comment Whitney :) I knew he'd be a puddle. The scenes that get me most are his mom, and then the song at the end during his memorial. So good

Well this was a first time watch for me and good lord, I’m wrecked. That’s the hardest I’ve cried in a long time. Beautiful film with impeccable acting. Streets of Philadelphia was already one of my fave Bruce songs so it hit me right out of the gate and then never really let up. The way the camerawork really highlighted every expression and drove home the conversations was really immersive and different. And opera makes me cry already so that scene just….wow. Wow wow wow. Great reaction guys but I’m not sure I can handle anymore emotional wreckage so can we do a fun Pride movie next? lol

Such an important movie in the lives of so many, but especially at that time. It was around the same time that Magic Johnson was diagnosed and when Princess Diana touched the hand of an AIDS patient. My mother was a gay rights advocate and so she wanted to make sure that me and my sister watched this movie. She also wanted us to understand what it was like for HIV/AIDS patients and what it felt like to her with the things she had to deal with as a lesbian hearing and experiencing the hatred just because of who she was. This movie brings me back to the 90s when I had to keep many things quiet or face bullying myself for having a gay parent. I can only imagine the pain that others had to keep from others, just because of who they were. Thanks for reacting to this movie and I hope it touches others as much as it did me decades ago & today as well.
