What's up, Awesome Patrons?? I hope everyone's week is off to a good start. :) Thank you so much as always for your support of the channel-  this community of you guys is THE BEST, hands down!

As we close out Spooks + Booooze and start looking towards Year 2 of the channel, I want to know what movies y'all enjoy most. When you click on YouTube and there's a new video from either me, or Marc and me together, you'd like it to be..... what?  So many of you have been good enough to recommend movies already, and I write them all down, but there are some new friends here on Patreon and I want to make sure your voices are heard too!

From looking at the numbers over the last year, it looks like action and fantasy seem to be the most popular, with Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Hunger Games leading the pack. We have Indiana Jones in November and the Christmas Holiday season coming up, but looking further down the road I'm interested in what YOU would like to see.

No polling on this one, just let me know your thoughts. Genres, franchises, specific titles- the floor is yours!

You guys so watch The Others with Nicole Kidman. Such a great movie.

Travis Mason

I’ll just put in my dos centavos 😂 - if you’re doing 2 reactions a week (still) maybe desígnate certain days for certain genres. A day for fantasy, one for drama, one for horror, action, comedy etc.? That way everyone will get their moment of preference. Of course I’d love for you to continue on the horror journey because there are so many amazing films out there that aren’t necessarily jump scare types. ❤️

David vs. Film

I agree! Unfortunately that is one of the rare movies that we have actually both already seen. And since it relies so heavily on "the reveal", probably wouldn't be much of a reaction lol

Daniel Rotello

Have you seen all the Marvel movies?

David vs. Film

Yeah that's loosely how I was doing it last year. There was no Patreon or polls or anything like that yet, so I just kinda watched whatever whenever. And now you've stumbled onto a double-edged sword that I encountered doing that. I would get complaints that I was taking too long between movies in series- so for example there would be weeks between Star Wars and Harry Potter. But on the other hand, when we did all the movies in a row- like Pirates, for example- I got complaints that there was nothing else to watch for those who did not like Pirates. I'm trying to keep up with 2 movies a week, but with my full-time job, it probably would work better with one movie and a tv series. Still kicking it around in my head :)

David vs. Film

Up through Spider-Man: Far From Home in order, then WandVision and Loki, Multiverse of Madness, and that's it. I have all the new ones I could watch :) And then side-note to your other suggestion, I really am thinking about Heartstopper as a Monday/Tuesday upload.

walter

How about a TV series? Fringe or the original Twin Peaks. If movies, there is City of Lost Children - in Francaise I believe - but does have an English dub. The movie eXistenZ is weird! It's Cronenberg so definitely weird, but cool. Both are considered Sci-Fi in the descriptions.

Jon

ACTION/DRAMA/THRILLERS: Red Sparrow Mother! Red 1 & 2 Safe House (great non comedy role from Ryan Renolds) Bullet Train Buried (first non comedic Ryan Renolds role I saw, sp gripping) 1917 Grand Torino Flags of Our Fathers & Letters From Iwo Jima (both tell the same conflict but from opposite sides) Hacksaw Ridge (amazing true story) The Outsiders (older classic also my cousin is in this lol) COMEDY: Tropic Thunder Free Guy The Proposal (maybe save for around Valentines) Secret Live of Walter Mitty (favorite Ben Stiller film) Robinhood Men in Tights So bad it's amazing: The Room. Reality/adventure/comedy: Grand Tour: Seamen (they have a few feature length episodes, so of you like the holy trinity then maybe can use them as a month theme). TV SERIES: Altered Carbon (great Sci-fi) Lucifer Carnival Row (great fantasy) The Witcher (speaks for itself) Highway Men (Woody Harrelson and Kevin Coster hunt Bonnie and Clyde)

David vs. Film

Oh yeah, I have this one down already with your name beside it! lol. Someone else mentioned to include more newer horror like this too. Thanks!

David vs. Film

Perfect!! Awesome. Thanks buddy. I saw Highway Men, btw. Very very good indeed. Thanks for the reminder on Sparrow and also for Gran Torino! That's a movie I've always wanted to watch but keep forgetting about.

David vs. Film

Yes, and that is one that will REALLY get to me. For some reason those "surveillance camera" or "baby monitor" grainy footage movies scare me just about the worst. It's the dead quiet, followed by a movement in the background or a voice. F****************k that. lol

Daniel Rotello

This series make me both envious and overjoyed at the same time. Envious that I did not have something like this when I was younger and overjoyed that this and future generations do!

Derrick Owen

I absolutely second the nomination for Twin Peaks. Super strange, but certainly worth experiencing. It's also one of the inspirations to my favorite horror video game: Silent Hill, so that's worth it just for that.

Ken Sigman

Maybe you could try some classic films from 40's and 50's...Sunset Boulevard, All About Eve..You would love the 1939 film The Women...Joan Crawford and Bette Davis films are always teriffic...

Derrick Owen

Okay, so I'm going to start the Denzel Washington hype train (plus a few other things that came to my mind which are also pretty good). Crimson Tide (1995, Thriller) Remember the Titans (2000, Drama) Training Day (2001, Crime/Thriller) John Q (2002, Drama) Munich (2005, Drama/Thriller) The Book of Eli (2010, Action) Deliver Us From Evil (2014, Horror) The Equalizer (2014, Action) The Equalizer 2 (2018, Action) The Little Things (2021, Mystery/Thriller) Stranger Things (Netflix Horror(ish) Series) Castlevania (Netflix Anime Series)

Derrick Owen

I absolutely love Red and Red 2; John Malkovich is hilarious in those. Letters From Iwo Jima is Clint Eastwood's best film in my opinion; it's a great representation of the other side's view (you know, the one not taught in public school, because they're the "bad guys"). Completely second Robinhood: Men in Tights; you can never go wrong with Mel Brooks.

Jon

My wife can not stand The Room, she can naht. So Dave needs to watch it for her sake lol. Really need to find his other films too.

Derrick Owen

I saw a Mel Brooks film in one of the comments and would like to add a few (can't really go wrong with Mel): Blazing Saddles (1974) Young Frankenstein (1974) History of the World, Part 1 (1981) (There is no Part 2, XD) Spaceballs (1987) Dracula: Dead and Loving It (1995) Some of these sound like Horror, but they are all Comedy.

Dawn Blanton

I’m going to throw in a couple of other Denzel must see’s The Bone Collector with Angelina Jolie and then a good little scary one called Fallen!! Please do those two!! Nobody ever reacts to those and they are soooooo good!!!!

Dawn Blanton

ANYTHING by Stephen King ANYTHING by Mike Flanagan Hereditary Midsommar The Conjuring Universe Shows: Game of Thrones (PLEASE) Breaking Bad Lost The Office Dexter I’ll watch whatever you react to honestly, even if I’ve never seen it, just because! 🥰 (Please have Marc with you on a all reactions if possible! YOU are AMAZING, but the TWO OF YOU!! STOP MY HEART!! I can’t take it and I love y’all!!❤️

David vs. Film

Yeah I always said that if I could do this full time I would love to do all kinds of "theme" days; New Releases, 80s Rewind, The Classics, etc. There are a lot of classic movies I would like to watch such as the ones you've listed, but then also 12 Angry Men, To Kill A Mockingbird, Baby Jane, Hitchcock. Last year I was kind of all over the place with movies; it'd be Harry Potter one week, then Lord of the Rings, then Kung Fu Panda, and then randomly Texas Chainsaw Massacre. And even though it was seemingly disorganized, I did like that there was a variety. Something for everyone.

David vs. Film

Hey Dawn and Derrick! Ok so on the Denzel list Derrick has, I've actually seen everything from Munich up. Book of Eli down, I have not (except Stranger Things, which you already know about that one, D. I'm behind 😁). To Dawn's excellent suggestions, I have actually seen BOTH Bone Collector and Fallen. "It's just you and me- Hobbs and Azazel" Fallen is EXCELLENT and creepy as hell as a premise. But Marc I can assure you has seen NONE of these, so that puts them back in the running if he's joining.

David vs. Film

Right now my top priorities personally are Star Wars (specifically Mandalorian and prequels) and Mel Brooks. I cannot WAIT to watch Mel Brooks.

David vs. Film

Hahaha aww thank you!!! Well, he said NEVER at first, then he agreed to just Harry Potter ONLY, and now here we are with him joyfully saying "Yo soy Marc!" weekly. I will try to talk him into it, but right now I've only got a once-a-week commitment lol. Regarding the tv shows. above, you have literally listed all my favorites. Whereas I am pretty deficient movies, I've watched a LOT of tv. Of the ones you listed, I especially love Lost, BB, and GoT. EVERYONE is watching House of the Dragon right now, so my little reactions would get swallowed up, but I plan to watch it later. I've seen Hereditary, I already have a reaction up for Midsommar (soooo good and freaky), and you just try and keeep me away from Mike Flanagan now! Great suggestions.

Derrick Owen

Training Day is one of the few films to actually make my heart seemingly stop. Denzel's performance on that is unnerving as hell.

David vs. Film

Oh I'm aware. lol. I've seen parts of that one, and Marc has seen it and loved it. That's how I know he'll like the others. I have seen parts of Blazing Saddles, but he hasn't seen any of that. So I'm excited about that one for sure lol

Dawn Blanton

Awesome!!! I can’t wait for you to watch more of Mike’s work!! The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass are both awesome!! Hush is good as well! Doctor Sleep kills two birds, because it’s a Stephen King book AND Mike Flanagan directed it!! It’s the sequel to The Shining and holy cow he did such an amazing job with it!! But of course he did, I mean come on, it’s King/Flanagan you can’t go wrong! 😉 Thanks so much for responding! I can’t tell you how much that means! You’d asked a while back about the hurricane I was in and I couldn’t find the chat, but I made it through unscathed (obviously) 🤣 Thanks for your concern! It wasn’t as bad as they “predicted” it was going to be up here, but it’s always hit or miss with weather! The middle of the state was hit pretty hard though and I don’t think they were expecting that much. 🤷‍♀️ I’m going to go watch some of your reactions now! I’ve been studying pretty hard as midterms just ended and I owe myself a little treat! 🥰 TTFN!!

The Ring (2002, Horror) The Ring 2 (2005, Horror)

Susan C

Interview with the Vampire could be fun 😀

Montego2

Dipping your toes into Classic movies, as already mentioned, might be fun, whatever genre. Something like Hitchcock's The Birds would, um, kill two of 'em with one stone, so to speak. I'd also like to bring up again the possibility of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series. Maybe just the pilot to see whether enough viewers would be interested. That would help decide whether it's worth the commitment.

Gee… I wonder what Eddie would suggest?! For Christmas (how’s that for advanced notice) “The Lion In Winter”. Be ready for Katherine Hepburn to be her most sarcastic, bitchy best in her 3rd Academy Award winning role. umm, Penny Dreadful… A great series along the lines of Mockingjay series, “Divergent”. Amazing cast and story. You know the rest of mine and I’m sure Your tired of hearing about them. What is that old saying? Persistence pays off or pisses off, I can’t remember which! 😊 For Thanksgiving, “Home for the Holidays” with Holly Hunter and Robert Downey, Jr. We watch it every year. Also, the ORIGINAL “The Bishop’s Wife” with Cary Grant. The best Christmas film ever.

Eoin G

This is criminally underrated but S1-3 of Hannibal is an amazing show, 40 min eps 13 episodes a season !! Sherlock 3 episodes a season, 4 amazing seasons, could be watched as movies they are 1hr 20 an episode and it’s fantastic!! Movies I love, Interstellar, Prisoners and of course The Batman 😉

David vs. Film

Ahhh yes, one of his Oscar winners. I remember seeing that one a loooong time ago and liking it. But it's been a while.

David vs. Film

Ok now don't get mad at me (as I'm already mad at myself)- I had no idea that was Mel Brooks! Even if I haven't seen the movies, I usually know about them, that they're his, who the actors are, etc (like Young Frankenstein), but I swear I did not know that one was one of his.

Derrick Owen

Correct. Those two films are some of the very few times western cinema has implemented Japanese horror well.

David vs. Film

I love all these idea Eduardo :) And you really are wearing me down on PD!! I'm getting close to watching ;)

Derrick Owen

M. Night Shyamalan: The Sixth Sense (1999) Unbreakable (2000) Signs (2002) The Village (2004) Lady in the Water (2006) The Happening (2008) Split (2016) Glass (2019)

Susan C

The movie but course you’ve seen it. You’ve got good taste

David vs. Film

Thanks, and back at ya! I have seen it, but I'm kinda all over the place with things I've actually seen. I saw a lot of the 1992-2006 years. Before of after that stretch, it gets spotty ;)

Watson

I actually have a Star Wars room. I collect things from 1977-83. I had the rest in storage. Someone broke in and took all my Star Wars. Storage unit insurance wouldn’t pay because I couldn’t prove who did it. I said look at the fucking tape!!!!!!! We know it was an employee that quit that day. He was the only other one who knew what was in there. Nothing else was taken. 🤬🤬🤬

Morothane

The Last Samurai - like Cruise or not, the movie is probably his best dramatic performance. Plus Ken Watanabe’s first English role, and they both do amazing. Star Wars prequels with Marc ;)

Katie

I can’t believe I forgot to bring this up for the Spook and Booze nominations because it would fit the theme perfectly. So let me request it here. 2015 “Victor Frankenstein”. It’s not the greatest movie but I still love it. It has amazing cast, great performances (McAvoy has me weak) and I adore the music. Heck one of the themes has been my ringtone for yearsss now lol. All the aforementioned suggestions are such a high quality so my suggestion probably stands out in an unflattering way but I’d still love for you to see and react to it. 🤗
