WHAT'S UP AWESOME PATRONS?? Not since I watched a girl's earring get ripped out of her ear next to the Auntie Anne's Pretzel have I seen such a throw-down at a local mall. And honestly, even though it's been abandoned and looted, the mall in Episode 7 of the Last of Us is probably in better shape than the one back home, actually. We found out a lot about Ellie's backstory in this episode, including her history with Riley, and also learned the fate of Joel.

"Get in loser, we're going shopping." Even though those familiar with the game have been GREAT at not revealing spoilers, I have nonetheless heard the name Riley thrown around here and there. In this episode, "Left Behind", I finally got to put a face with a name and find out who she is in relation to Ellie. I was also excited to learn more about Ellie's history, and of course glad to get resolution on Joel's fate as well. Episode 7 proved to be yet another stellar example of the elevated storytelling, acting, and directing that have come to define this show. I am a not a gamer (except a mean round of Mario Kart in '03), and I had never played nor ever heard of the game The Last of Us before HBO Max turned it into a show. We're only have a few episodes left at this point, and I'm excited to see how season 1 concludes.
