SPOOKS + BOOOOZE 2023 IS UPON US!!! I am preparing my nerves (and my liver) for an awesome month of scary movies and liters of "Peach Tea". And as for Marc, he's already refilled his Xanax prescription and ordered a barrel of wine.

But first YOU AND I must plan the most important part- the movies! Below are all the suggestions from last year that did not make it, along with a few others that have been mentioned over the year. I'd like for you to also tell me any that you recommend for the list as well. In order to include those folks who aren't big horror fans, the plan is to do more fun or lighthearted (yet still Halloween-ey) films on Mondays followed by the truly scurry sh*t on Fridays. There are only 2 movies that I have picked personally already - Death Becomes Her and Young Frankenstein - but the rest will all be decided by YOU!

Here is the list so far:

- Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (Neither has seen)
- Witches of Eastwick (Neither has seen)

and a Way WE GOOO!!!

Jennifer Redmond

Nightmare before Christmas is always on my list, considering Jack and Sally are tattooed on my arm!

Petrosakaghettogypsy

Love the choices! If you have time can you see if you can do a reaction for Rosemarys baby?

Watson

“Autopsy of Jane Doe” has a twist you don’t see coming until the autopsy unravels! It wouldn’t be Halloween without “Trick r Treat”. For really scary? “Stake Land”. It’s one hell of a Vampire film. This one doesn’t hold back! (Peach Tea for everyone!!) For your light hearted fun movie, “Dale and Tucker” is hilarious, especially if you’re from backwoods Louisiana! It should be called “David and Tucker” (see what I did there?!)

Katie

Victor Frankenstein :)

Pam and Mike Thompson

From this list, I'll go with Poltergeist! But for some real fun, how about Ernest Scared Stupid? 😁😁

OMG Ernest Scared Stupid!! I remember that movie! Yeah, I had you guys in mind because I remember you told me you didn't like scary stuff, so I am going to try to fold in some lighter fare too this coming month ;)

Aww that's awesome about the tattoo!! Ok so I'm glad you mentioned this one because I ALMOST posted Nightmare to the list, but ultimately didn't because both Marc and I have seen it countless times. It is a rite of passage for Halloween season at our house :) What we may do instead is make this movie our live watch along closer to Halloween. Not sure yet, but we did a live watch along last year that was so fun, and I think this Nightmare would be a lot of fun.

Oh yes I for sure wanted to make sure Autopsy remained on the list (and we'll do a Legend's Pick obviously for October also still), but I'll be sure to add Stake Land. I do like what you did with David and Tucker, but I'd suggest Tucker and Dave vs. Evil to keep it closer ;) hahaha

>>118195073

I definitely stay away from scary stuff, but there are several on this list I've seen enough that they don't bother me. And we just did Halloween Horror Nights at Universal, so maybe I'm not such a chicken after all!

David vs. Film
>>118195073

OMG if you did THAT, these movies should be nothing lol. I'm so jealous, by the way. My best friend Greg (who loves horror like I do) and I went Halloween 2019, and we had a blast! Which Haunted Houses did you do?

Pam and Mike Thompson
>>118195073

We got thru all 10 houses they had this year. My favorite was their Bloodmoon one, which was like a colonial Salem witch themed one. But they were all awesome!

David vs. Film
>>118195073

Wow that's a feat!! I would LOVE the Bloodmoon one. The year we were there, the big ones were Stranger Things and the movie Us, and I think ultimately we did 7 if memory serves. I wish they had been doing the Michael Myers Halloween one that year.

Rowena

Are these ones that neither of you have watched?

David vs. Film
>>118210451

Good question! All except for 2 are first watches for at least one of us, but some neither of us have seen. There are only 2 on the list (Nightmare Before Christmas & Practical Magic) that BOTH of us have already seen. I went ahead and included them anyway though because people have indicated wanting reactions for regardless. I'll go back and mark each one for clarity. :)

Rowena

Practical magic made me ask the question lol. I was like really..??? If you ain't watched this a dozen times then I can't help you 🤣

Rowena

The conjuring (all) Final destination (all) Parinormal activity ( all and f that movie. It'll mess you up. So yeah definitely watch them)

David vs. Film
>>118219524

Hahahaha Oh yes, we've definitely seen this one, but it's been a while. I remember it being great :) We try to avoid movies that we've both seen, but if I get requests for them, I'll still put them on the list and add the disclaimer that they won't be first time watches for Marc and me. More like encore viewings for us all watch and have fun talking about.

David vs. Film
>>118219634

Yeah, we watched the first Paranormal Activity for the channel back in March I think it was, and we've gotten a lot of requests to continue the series haha.

Rowena
>>118219634

I will definitely watch with yall. Xanax and vodka in hand.

Jon

(More typical horror) You NEED to watch Eli, would be a good live react. Mama is criminally underrated need more recognition. (More psychological) Mother! Would make a great live react as well. The Orphange is one of my favorie alone with The Devil's backbone by Guillermo del Toro. Crimson Peak is good. The re-release of Saw was my wife an mine first date, would be nice to see that.

Calbah

I'm not sure if this fits with Halloween movies, but Big Trouble in Little China does have magic and monsters. It's a super fun John Carpenter movie that definitely needs to be on the channel at some point if you haven't already seen it.

Pam and Mike Thompson
>>118195073

They had a stranger things one this year too. Some others were Chuckie, Exorcist, Last of Us, Dueling Dragons and Yeti. They did have a Michael Myers one last year that scared the bejesus outta me! You went in one room and there were like 20 Michael Myers statues and you didn't know which ones were real people. Nope! I put blinders on and ran!

David vs. Film
>>118223519

Oh my God these all sound good!! Thanks Jon. I know you submitted Mother! over on the Legend's Pick, and I now remember you telling me about Eli, but damn Mama sounds scary as hell!

David vs. Film
>>118224257

THANK you!! It's so funny you mention this because I just learned like 3 days ago that John Carpenter did BTiLC, and I would have never guessed that. Yeah, I'll add it to the list for sure, but please remind me again if we don't end up watching it for Spooks + Booooze because I do want to see it!

Jon
>>118223519

Guillermo del Toro produced Mama. Izzy looked it up and says we're (she hadn't seen it yet) watching it during the day 😄. Mother! Isn't a typical horror, but you will be drained. There's something about Eli and Mama I love and sticks with me more than other typical horrors.

CatsandCrafts

Saw, Orphan and Final Destination are my top picks for those neither of you have seen! All three are great films!!

Elizabeth Cohen

I'm a little late with this comment so maybe it's one you'll consider outside of October, but Babadook shook me. It's so good, but scared me so bad so I love to hate it lol.

David vs. Film
>>118942799

Awesome, thank you!!! From the poll, it's looking like the next one is going to be one of your top picks! Final Destination

David vs. Film
>>118971374

Believe it or not, we've actually seen that one! A friend of mine insisted that we watch it with him years ago, and it had 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, so we took a chance. That movie was INNNNTTTEEENNNSSSEEE!!!!!
