Just like Groundhog Day caught me off-guard last week, I realized that this coming weekend is the weekend before Valentine's Day. So unfortunately, my "February Sequels" month has already been derailed, and poor Spider-Man: No Way Home will be delayed once again (but still coming this month!)

So what does Dolores Claiborne have to do with Valentine's Day, you ask? Well I'll tell you: Last year I asked Marc to choose the Valentine's Day movie (Pretty Woman), and because that went so well, I asked him to choose again this year. He picked Dolores Claiborne. Clearly he had no idea what this movie is about, whereas I do. He was in for a surprise lol.

Here is the unedited, full-length version of our reaction, and we would love it if you watched along with us. Definitely be sure to let us know your thoughts about the film if you do. I've provided the unblurred version up top via Streamable (just click the photo thumbnail), and the link for the blurred YouTube version can be found here: https://youtu.be/BmHzsHxbfU8. For those watching the YouTube version, remember that you'll need your own copy of the movie to sync up.

Thanks as always for your incredible support, and I hope you have a great rest of the day/night!

I read this back in the day and was excited when this movie first came out. In the book the amount she inherited was somewhere in the ballpark of 30 million and we find out at the end that she anonymously donated the money to an orphanage. I really enjoyed watching it again with you guys!

I love Kathy Bates too!! She's everything you all said and then some. I will forevermore think of this movie as a Valentine Day movie. LOL!

This movie is so underrated. I actually just quoted it last week. As my mom gets older, I think a lot of her attitude is Dolores Claiborne-ish. I told her that I can absolutely imagine her saying that she's "half past give-a-shit" because that's definitely her vibe sometimes. It's not a negative character trait, if you ask me. 😆

The actress who played Vera Donovan, Judy Parfitt, is British. When I started watching British TV, especially mysteries, I started seeing her in guest starring roles everywhere. She's also in an episode of Murder, She Wrote that I've seen a million times. Most recently she's been a regular on Call the Midwife. Young Selena was played by Ellen Muth who was the star of Dead Like Me. I never got into that show, but it seems like something I would really like. Also, if you want to see better Jennifer Jason Leigh, I think she's done her most interesting work in independent films like Georgia, Last Exit to Brooklyn, and Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle. She probably didn't put as much effort into girlfriend parts like Backdraft compared to the prostitutes and drug addicts she played in smaller films.

This was such a great movie. Apparently it is in the same timeline as other Stephen King movies. Did you notice that at one point she mentioned Shawshank?

As usual I don't even know where to begin with your comment!!! haha. Ok first of all, I should have known you were a fellow Murder She Wrote fan. Marc thinks it is ridiculous and constantly makes fun of me for watching it lol. He just can't get past that a senior citizen consistently outsmarts the local authorities, state authorities, private security, federal agents, etc etc. Also, wtf is going on in Cabot Cove?? haha. Yeah, I need to see more JJL because she really is good, and I was not a fan in the past. However, I was not a big fan of Martha Plimpton either, for example, and I LOVE her now, so I should always keep an open mind ;) Vera Vera... she has my heart. And I got the impression she was British. Perfect portrayal and accent of an American New England socialite, but just something about the way she carries herself.

hey buddy!! I did! and I love stuff like that. little crossovers or easter eggs. That's one thing I've always enjoyed about Marvel.

Hey Joe! Oh wow- that's quite a bit more, and I love that about they way she donated. Why couldn't they have left that in?? I'm so glad you liked this one. There are some movies I enjoy watching (and then subsequently spending hours editing haha) more than others, and this is one of them.

Eileen! Haha that's awesome :) I hope you have an awesome Valentine's Day whether you are loving yourself, someone else, or both ;)

When I mentioned Murder, She Wrote, I didn't think about the fact that just like Angela Lansbury was a British actress playing a tough lady from Maine (maybe Jessica actually murdered her husband Frank😆), Judy Parfitt was a British actress playing a tough lady from Maine in Dolores Claiborne. The episode of MSW that Judy Parfitt is in is the one where Jessica is stuck in Moscow because a spy tries to use her to smuggle some microfilm to the US in a film canister in her purse. Something like that anyway.

The Emerald Duchess

Where did the game of thrones reactions go? Did I miss one?

Hey hey! No, you're golden as always- I got behind wrapping up Chernobyl and then being out of town. The last 2 for Season 5 are rolling out as we "type", and then the YouTube edits of 7-10 are in the works right now. Usually we take a month off between seasons, but since 5 was kinda drawn out, I think we're going to move right on to Season 6 starting this weekend :)
