Oof Seeing the Divide like that... preparing for a not so light hearted season now ;(

**Sorry I thought I uploaded before I went to sleep last night. I was in urgent care last evening getting medicine for a sinus infection* and then the medicine made me really sleepy when I got home.

Kate and Immortal was on some bullshit this episode. Kate really said she had just as much of a close death experience as Rae when her real body was safe miles away from the fight🤣.

Honestly I agreed with Cecil about working with reformed villains since it puts their negative abilities to positive things. I didn't even have a problem with him having a contingency for Viltrumites. But everything else is a hard no. Putting it in Mark's brain without his knowledge is a huge red flag. Especially after last season where Mark refused to even pretend to be on Anissa's side and felt immense guilty after accidentally killing a guy who attacked his family. Cecil is just a terrible leader.

I honestly side with Cecil here. He gave Darkwing Two and Sinclair the therapy they needed BEFORE actually employing them, and OF COURSE he needed a failsafe against Invincible because THAT IS HIS JOB. Remember than just because someone normally wouldn't do something, doesn't mean they can't be manipulated into doing it. He never wanted to have to use it, and you can see not only did he NOT use it until he was actively threatened but ALSO the reanimamen didn't attack until they were attacked first.

The problem with Cecil is that contingencies are supposed to be used as a last resort. It's like Batman's plan for the 1% chance of Superman going evil. Although he likes to have contingencies he also acknowledges the fact it's only for the worst case scenario and Superman won't go that route unless something very extreme happened. Cecil on the other hand always acts like the worst most extreme outcome is the one most likely to happen, which is very unrealistic. Plus Cecil himself had the same doubts as Mark did and it took him months to be convinced otherwise, so he should be aware of how hard it would be for Mark to accept. And considering Cecil's first action when finding out was to immediately kill both of his villains, I'd say Mark was much more calm and mature about it than Cecil and deserved a calm and mature response.

If your job was the security of THE ENTIRE WORLD you might also decide that it's best to prepare for the worst case scenario. He doesn't have the privilege of messing up, if he makes a wrong call millions of people can die. regardless, he didn't use the sonic weapon until AFTER Mark had ACTIVELY threatened to hurt him. Not when he was already fighting and destroying the reanimen. He wasn't even asking mark to change his mind about it right away, though he was trying to convince him. He was asking him to back off and calm down. Something he probably wishes he had done in the past. Now he did go too far afterwards but everything leading up to that was Mark's fault.

The reason Cecil tried to trap Mark like that is because he remembered himself thinking the criminals should be dead or in prison, he imagined Mark was the same way but he never considered Mark never said anything about them being dead. Can't blame Cecil for having contingencies, but he was way outta line for handling this situation the way that he did. Mark wasn't going to hurt anybody, Cecil thought he would because that's what HE did. Cecil should have known better considering Mark fought his own dad over earth, and Mark refused to even pretend to agree with Anissa.
