JUST COMMENTING HOW OF COURSE OZAI REMOVED HIS TOP FOR THE FINAL FIGHT xD

Orange

You are not ready for Zuko in his late 20's in the movie then... just saying judging by your reaction on Ozai in the finale 😅

Andrew Diseker

The story of his mother is answered in the comic novel series.

haso

This was a journey and can't wait to go on a new journey with Korra!

Dan Bellis

The whole thing with Zuko's mother is covered in the graphic novels. Since they're not bound by Nickelodeon's content guidelines, they're more mature in nature and dive into a lot of politics. The same can be said for the Legend of Korra's continued written works (when you get to that point).

FrenchTantan

To answer your question, the sequel series does not solve the part about Zuko's mother. That arc is explained in follow-up comics, specifically one named "The Search". The comics are... fine. A lot of people give them slack, and there is certainly some criticism to be had, but they are a good read still, so I recommend them nonetheless.

Pablo Salazar

They continue the series through comics

Gavynnnnn

Something you don’t see many people point out is Ozai’s mindset shift as the fight goes on. He starts with arrogance. “I have all the power in the world!!” However, once Aang lays a can of whoopass on him with the Avatar state, he gets humbled quickly. “Even with all the power in the world, you’re still weak,” acknowledging that Aang is the one with power. Although, that sentiment quickly got humbled too.

BTW Jami, could you react to the Avatar Spirits Documentary? It’s a 30 minute behind the scenes documentary featuring the show’s creators Mike and Bryan. You can watch the documentary on YouTube, just type Avatar Spirits Documentary (2010). Also the Zuko’s mom’s story is covered in the graphic novels by Dark Horse Comics, luckily they now come in omnibuses, so they’ll be easy to track down.

Bryann Kam

Lame? Come on, we’ve had plenty of cool and awesome non-bender characters: Master Piandao, Sokka, Mai, Ty Lee, Jet, Suki, the entirety of the Kyoshi Warriors, etc.

Sikk Karuzo

I think ATLA was the first real show with an ongoing storyline that I finished when I was a young teen. I can still remember how the final episodes aired and how almost everybody watched them. We had football training that day (real European football :p) and we finished early so everybody could watch the finale. I watched many shows but to this day I still think there are not many shows with such a satisfying finale. Everything was just perfect. The animation the music and how all the characters were shown.

Shogun_Adrian7

The Sequel to this episode is on Webtoons and its free probably on the first 50 chapters. There is an Arc about Zukos mothers if you want to find out more!!!

Spiritstrike

Yeah the movie or the sequel series will not answer the question about Zuko's mother, all the graphic novels which are a good read. I know you will enjoy Korra. Watching the movie after you're done with Korra feels so fresh and nostalgic.

Dandy Zoran

I think Legend of Korea is like 70 years or something apart from ATLA. As for Zukos mom, that was answered in the comics. It's a good read. That one is called "The Search".

Frederick

One word to describe this series: Legendary

retsubkrod

The movie is about something else. To know about zukos mom you’ll have to read the comic.

Adam Vialpando

I love that the last line of the show is Toph happily saying "I think you all look perfect!"

Dakea

You have to read the comics to continue the plot regarding searching for Zuku's mom. Avatar: The Last Airbender – The Search

KmNk218

The comics are terrible, I refuse to consider that canon.

KmNk218

ATLA was just lightning in a bottle, it cannot be done again, specially these days. One the best cartoons ever made.

Otto VonBizmarkie

Great reaction! Can’t wait for you to watch korra I think you’ll really like it

Adam Vialpando

What? The comics are awesome. Especially the first two.

Andrew Diseker

@KmNk218 Even though the creators say that they are?

Andrew Diseker

"Leave the nicknames to us, sweetheart!"

Creeture

Love your reactions and your journey through ATLA to the end. The good news is there is more with Korra. It's different but it's good.

Memesicles

I think my favorite parts of the finale is the parts with Suki, Sokka and Toph. Especially the parts between Sokka and Toph. It's very "blink and you'll miss it" but Sokka goes above and beyond to guide and protect Toph, and she puts her full trust in him despite previously making fun of him and implying he's worthless in a fight. When Sokka breaks a leg and throws away both his weapons to save him and Toph, followed by saying "I don't think boomerang is coming back" and coming to terms with seemingly imminent death hits me so hard. Especially seeing Toph cry, only having Sokka's play-by-play to go off of, and his hand being the only thing stopping her from a fall she can't even imagine.

NJZanDatsu

One of the greatest shows ever. I still can't believe this aired on Nick lol.

WackyJacky

Your Ozai thirst is hilarious 😂

Jose Juaquin

I had high hopes for thr sequel series but the writers butchered her character and every single problem they face is because she wouldn't listen to her elders

GenetheBook

Those comics are convulted and overexplained just to give Ursa an "out'. Everyone else in this family were complicated without extra nonsense.

Ryanswaggy 22

I know a lot of people give mixed reviews on the sequel series Korra, but it is definitely worth the watch to see the continuation of where the world goes. There are some stories that still partially tie in to the original series and plenty of Easter eggs. I would definitely watch the reactions if you do them, but even if you just watch it on your own time, I would say you would enjoy it. Also, the movie should be really interesting I plan to watch it myself, so I hope you do and enjoy it.

ij23

i think you'd definitely be a waterbender

rubberkidney

Man, they burned the shit out of those big rocks in the ocean there, dude. The Earth Kingdom would have never recovered financially.

every time i watch ATLA i always feel a pit finishing it. Its just one of those shows that you watched the characters grow that they feel so real, then when your done your hit with the feeling that its over. So much couldve been done to continue the show, feels like it was rushed without having it be rushed.
