It's always been interesting about the different censorship standards for male and female nipples. In this show, I guess male nipples are always censored, like Aladdin's weird bra that he wears or the fat slave owner in the first episode who didn't have nipples drawn on his chest. But female nipples are okay. Meanwhile youtube will come after you if you try to post this episode since it has female nipples.

Well it's more like "male nipples ? what's that, who needs that ?" then that they actively censor them. Afaik it's pretty common for anime art to just leave the males without nipples. Female nipples on the other hand are usually drawn in and are then usually censored on top in the TV version of anime.

Great reaction! Magi is a good Anime! I think that since you are watching in Sub you may be missing some information making it harder for you to understand everything. interesting enough the dub is not bad. I suggest watching at least the first 10 Episodes in Dub. if you wanted to switch to DUB going forward to understand the abilities in this world as well as just to sit back and enjoy the ride, it's not a bad watch. I seen it in both Sub and dub and the voice actors did good in both. I suggest pausing the video if you're talking while information is being explain in sub, to get clarification and not miss information being said. keep in mind that Japanese and English language are not compatible languages. As such when certain agencies translate, some are literal translations, and it may not make sense when reading the sub titles where as with this dub they look at the root words in Japanese and translate it to a word that conveys a similar thought and meaning or understanding in Dub thus making it a reliable translation for this anime. Of course what I'm saying is not true for all anime. Ultimately the point is I noticed that there are some things your not understanding that was explained in earlier episodes. I'm generally a sub watcher but this is one of the few anime I watched and enjoyed in dub.

I can't remember any point in the Magi anime where I didn't understand things or missed something in the sub. Also your assertion that dubs are generally more accurate translation is ruined by the fact that there are also dubs that like to sometimes just change stuff up without reason. E.g. google Kobayahi-san chi no Maid Dragon sub vs dub changes

Subs are not literally translated... Generally dubs are less accurate because they need to match lip flaps.

Yeah, there's multiple people who will retranslate the same subs. CR, Funimation, Hulu, Netflix, Pirateer, all of them will have different subs at times.

Alibaba is already a king candidate. Any weapon that glows with that symbol shows that you've cleared a dungeon and captured the Djinn and can use it's power. So keep an eye out for that

idk what is so complicated w/Magic's lore or sub texts that Jamie just "gotta" watch its Dub moving forward lol. also lots of subs are pretty far from literal.. like other guy said multiple translations will exist. *sure by n large they'll say mainly the same thing* but there are some that are more descriptive.. some more blunt n basic. you'll see it all the time

Go away dubbers. You can argue about specific sub translations but if you argue dub is more accurate you're just making a laughing stock of yourself (edit I don't actually mean go away, you're welcome here and all, just we don't need dub requests on every new anime is all I'll saying)

I mean yeah, but it's kinda meaningless anyway. AFAIK, mythology wise, Djinn don't have a sex per se (after all, they don't reproduce, but are basically magical entities spawned by w/e), but even masculine or feminine forms are generally pretty skin-showing overall (perhaps to suggest that they are above petty mortal concerns like that?). You can see that the clothes-to-skin ratio is pretty tiny for both Ugo & Paimon so far (even Amon as an "older" looking Djinn was still relatively lightly clothed, IIRC). Also it makes sense especially in Paimon's case, because of her thematics (basically all Djinns seem to have their own thematics, since Amon was all about Fire, so I think it would have been like something like Austerity or perhaps Authority, just like Paimon has a Wind attribute to her, which makes sense given her Maniacal Love & Chaos thematics ("love is a hurricane", as a certain wise person said)

Yeah, it's basically a symbol denoting Solomon (dude's been mentioned as the OG big boi King, and the Djinn are his underlings, as noted by Amon in like Episode 2 or w/e they cleared the Dungeon), and it's not solely a thing in Magi, it's common in occult-based fantasy series as well overall
