Not too sure about filler from other anime, but events in FT filler arcs do come up again in other cannon arcs and sometimes play an important role in some stories.

Ya besides time works differently Fairy tail spent one day in the spirit relam and 3 month's went by before the grand magic Games so ya lot can happen for storytelling but even tho most people consider this as a side arc I think the Fairy tail writer may have had a part of this but this is one of my favorite arcs Storylines of Fairy tail top 5 for me

This arc does focus on the celestial spirits and Lucy. I feel like it does a good job of expanding upon Lucy’s ideologies as a celestial wizard and what her spirits mean to her. Which I’ve always enjoyed, as I feel it’s good setup for how Lucy grows as a wizard in the future fairy tail episodes

key of the starry sky arc was a good ass arc , the first 10 episodes was more like comedy but it was definitely a good arc
