When Ulti told Yamato that he/she needs to cherish family I half expected him/her to say, "Would you cherish someone who tried to kill you? Those shackles I wore all the time? My 'father' never hesitated to tell me that if I ever took them off or tried to leave that they would explode and kill me... and they did! If Luffy-san hadn't thrown them so far down the hall after taking them off I would have died! As far as I am concerned my father died in that explosion and Kaido is my mortal enemy!" Of course what she actually said makes more sense in hindsight as Yamato was in an "attack" mindset at that moment, whereas my imagined dialog would have instead come off as more defensive.

Toei deciding to play the same theme as when oden died when they attack kaido. Took like 2 minutes to cry in this episode eh.

I will not because Yamato refers to herself/himself as "Kaido's son", as male. Because he/she is doing so because he/she wants to become Oden and Oden was male I will leave it ambiguous until he/she decides that is what he/she truly is and not that he/she needs to be that gender in order to be like the person they admire (likely the end of the arc.)

Sure, but Yamao doesn't actually give a fuck what pronouns are used to refer to her (because Japanese DOESN'T have gendered pronouns, so obviously)

Actually it can be argued that Japanese doesn't have pronouns at all due to how the language is structured differently than many others, but they do have ones with gender roles if you know how to look.

Oda himself has stated yamato is a female so just stop with it. All she is doing is role playing a man. She does not identify as both male and female. She knows she is only a female

Yamato said, "Oden is a man, so I became a man too." "Became", not "took the role of." Until Yamato says "I am a woman and I'm fine with that" or else "I've felt more at home as a man than I ever have as a woman and so I have no intention of going back to that" I have no intention of changing that.
