This reminds me of Sanji and Usopp at Enies Lobby. How the Straw Hats know their failings and weaknesses yet know how to work together to do what someone else can't.

this was one of my all time favorite moments for sanji. i could see his growth from WC Island. Enies Lobby he refused to ask for help. this time he swallowed his pride and trusted his crew. i'm not the biggest robin fan, but even i was hype when she shows up

Oda is definitely going in a direction that I love with Sanji. Oda doesn't see him not hurting a women as a weakness. Oda sees that Sanji tends to sacrifice himself for the crew when he could try to rely on his crewmates more. This is great development from whole cake island. He trusts robin and never would have done it if he knew she couldn't handle it. He even said earlier not to underestimate Nico Robin. The gags for him were very minimal too

Sanji doesn't wanna attack women because of what his father Zeff taught him and because he doesn't wanna end up like his heartless brothers. He knows Robin can take care of herself so is not afraid to ask for her help.

This is a great character moment for Sanji. He always put his life on the line for others. but since WCI he has learned that he can ask for help too. I also don't really get the "he could be sending her to her death" argument. Like, they are in an all out war already and it's not like there is no one besides Black Maria that could harm Robin. She isn't a damsel in distress, she came here ready to fight along with everyone else. And Sanji knows how strong she is, so he put his faith in her.

Plus it would be all too easy for Sanji to win if he sacrificed his ideals. But a big part of One Piece, and the Straw Hats in particular, is that your dearest dreams and ideals are things you should always value. You can't compromise on that core part of yourself.

There's a lot of sanji fans defending him in the comments. The fact that you like sanji and are still not not sure about his decision to call out robin should show people that this is not a good sanji moment. You are completely right about him not knowing black maria's strength and so he shouldn't take the risk. Like imagine that was Big Mom instead of Black Maria and he had to call robin for help. He would literally have gotten his friend killed in order to save himself.

Like she said in the video he has no idea how strong Black Maria could be so how can he know Robin can deal with her. That could've been Big Mom and he would still have called Robin to come meet her death. Him not wanting to attack a woman is honourable and if he really has that much pride then he should've just continued getting tortured.

I bet you were also in the boat bitching about Sanji NOT calling for help on Whole Cake Island because he thought it was a risk, Now he shows he relies on his friends despite sending the most wanted woman in the world right into the enemies hands.

I had no problems with whole cake island. He believed if he left the straw hats and got married then he would've saved his crew and when he realised there was an elaborate plan to kill him and his family, he had a moment of true character growth and asked his friends for help. what he didn't do though was get his friends caught in a death trap. Then again sanji is an idiot and none of the other straw hats would fall for the same thing he did.

Sorry but Sanji made the right decision here. At Enies Lobby Nami taught him to run or leave it to someone else if he's up against a woman. This is growth. And just like Sanji said in this episode, you're definitely underestimating Robin. Even if Big Mom was there, Robin would still try to save him regardless of the power difference.

But also for not looking at women as simple damsel in distress for him to save. Robin is a strong person who can handle herself in a fight, and Sanji believes in her. When I first saw this in the manga, it reminded me of that conversation between Sanji and Usopp back at Enies Lobby. Here, he simply heeded his own advice and placed his trust in Robin. In my opinion, this is a great character moment for Sanji.

Yeah well to Robin herself this is a crazy big Sanji W. The fact of the matter is…Black Maria is not Big Mom, nowhere close. He has SOME grasp of her strength, she’s not even in the top 3 of Kaidos crew and he just sat there and got punched by her a ton. Robin is strong and Sanji knows that so he’s willing to trust her as a member of his crew and one of the stronger ones at that. Problem is you just don’t think Robins capable of being in a Fight I guess

I believe in Robin for sure. I'm mad at sanji because his weakness is what got him into this mess and as a result he's managed to put his crew in potential danger. if it was for a good reason like saving his family in wci then I would understand but he needs Robin to save him because he's a simp. Imagine Robin risking her life just because sanji was thinking of his penis during a war.

Sanji has some grasp of her strength lol, he just got pummeled by her for a minute lol, she’s also not even top 3 of Kaidos crew and Robin is probably the strongest straw hat behind Sanji and maybe Jimbei, she ain’t weak by any means

Ibzinho, it not that sanji chooses to not hit women it’s that he can’t, Oda stated he physically can’t because of a mental block due to his upbringing with Zeff. So if anything it’s more like a disability, you can’t really fault him for that.

I feel like people always forget that sanji doesn’t choose to not hit women, he states in enies lobby “I grew up with the idea that I shouldn’t kick women BEAT into him.” Oda also states that he physically can’t hit women due to his upbringing. The same way you don’t expect Luffy to fight someone underwater (because he physically can’t) should be the same as not expecting sanji to kick a women( because he physically can’t). Everyone has things they can and cannot do, so shine in the things that you can do, and let other shine on the things that you can’t. I’m surprised people still don’t get this after sanji’s talk with usopp in Enies lobby.

The most disappointing part of this episode is we didn't get to see everyone on rooftop (especially Zoro) reaction to that moment. It would be fun to see Zoro talking sh*t about Sanji again. *maybe oda didn't show it because there's no broadcaster cat on the roof. Idk, I'm not a manga reader.

Sanji calling for Robin is a great moment. It accomplishes many thing. First, it shows major development for Sanji who before would not ask for help and tried to do things on his own. Second, it shows the absolute trust that Sanji has in Robin. Third, a lesser stated aspect of this but one that is incredibly important is that Sanji doing this has led the entire alliance to notice the Marys as shown by Usopp. They now know about the Beast Pirates' massive communication system.

I am hyped to see Robin actually fight. It has been on my mind for a long time but we never really see Robin go all out and have opportunities to actually show off how strong she is.

You could kind of count her fight against Hammond in Fish-Man Island as a 1v1. It didn't get as much focus as other fights but she took him on and defeated him on her own.

I feel like a lot of people misunderstand. Sanji didnt want to put Robin through through this cause of his mistake, but, the fact that he called her show that he put the mission above his own pride. He has totally faith that they wont be able to beat her.

To be fair when sanji said don’t underestimate robin to Black Maria, we haven’t seen robin go all out since the time skip especially when it’s a 1v1 fight as she usually is seen as support in previous fights.
