[Hero] NPC Pack #8: The Soldiers + [Bonus] City Safehouse (Patreon)

Hey soldiers!

Our monthly Hero Tier NPC art pack for February 2026 features 3 characters (and one wild cat) with the theme of 'The Soldiers'. These characters have come to life from a home campaign of ours, and we are excited to share them with you to pick up and drive in further adventures!

While you are free to use any of the characters in a non-commercial manner, I hope some of our pairing offer ideas and inspire your worlds as well.

Our resident character artist Magenta has given the Soldiers two alternate looks, one from the original elven inspiration, and one more human.

Our first NPC is Marko Vaskov, and like the rest, a soldier from the Empire of Tirannwyn. He was once a fisherman by birth, but no net remains on shore forever. Once he was able to seek a better life, he left his village to pursue a professional army career for the Empire.

His original inspiration comes from the journey of 'zero to hero', as his humble skills were soon augmented by training, discipline, and camaraderie. Having placed his faith in the honorable Tirann ranks, he has quickly climbed to an officer rank, though his ambitions are not so high as to tangle with the webs of politics just yet! As a low-rank officer, his vision is to uphold the values that he believes has made his life better: courage and honor.

We've envisioned Marko as a paladin, the charismatic axis to the trio that is easy-going, full of heart, and always ready to jump in and help.

Up next is the squad leader of the trio, Danika Solokova. A former seamstress, she answered the call to defend her homeland during a beginning of a war for the Empire's survival. Though she came from a humble background, Danika was fiery, ambitious, seeking out more than just a life of soldiery. She pursed a career as an officer and was knighted by a Tirann lord. Today, she pursues mission excellence. Despite her solid convictions, she still struggles with accepting her place within the ranks of Empire's armies. All of her family and friends still remain civilians, and the further she excels in her field of work, the more she strays from those that keep her grounded.

We've envisioned Danika as a fighter, a true warrior at heart, despite her upbringing and past attempting to keep her humble.

Thirdly comes the splash for Kaspar Levandi, the squad marksman and heart of the party. Kaspar comes from an urban background, one more in tune with the Empire's inner workings and wholly integrated into the hustle and bustle of city life. Though they were conscripted into the Empire's forces, Kaspar's natural perspicacity earned them the role of a scout, and then as marksman. Kaspar's quiet disposition and pensive nature affords them a mental vantage in which they end up philosophizing more than marching, though during times of waiting - which is most of soldiering - their musings always entertain their comrades.

We've envisioned Kaspar as a rogue to embody that true 'one shot, one kill' philosophy.

Kaspar also comes paired with Lenka, a wild forest cat they found as a kitten during a march, and then kept as the mission ended. Lenka is far too cute to be disciplined, and as a result remains a highly independent, idiosyncratic, lazy, and demanding cat. But just look at that face! How could you say no to sharing a plate at the table with her?!

The Trio's Safehouse

We've paired this trio with the City Safehouse, as their adventures have taken them from traditional fields of battle into the realm of spycraft. The Soldiers have currently been 'sheep dipped' into political intrigue, and their thrilling adventures see them evolving from defending their homeland to having to fight for it in the shadows. Dark forces move in the Empire of Tirannwyn, and as they maneuver in the shadows, the Soldiers have been activated to counter them, protect their realm once again, and uncover the conspiracies that threaten to upend the internal political order.
