I'm bringing this up yet again as Apple's toxic and anti-competitive practices are affecting some creators still on the legacy per-creation billing, who will be forced to switch to subscription-based billing by November 2026, screwing Patreon and its users yet again, because Apple is a greedy-ass corpo who demands their 30% cut of the profits.

I'm bringing this to our attention again as I've noticed while working out the Commissions Overhaul that some of you have a patronage attached to the iOS app.

Apple takes a 30% cut from the amount you pay to line their wallets, and not to Patreon or your favourite creators. Consider signing up via the web or through the Android app, and not via the iOS app.

This Patreon is already subscription-billing, so you guys will not be affected. I'm only re-publishing this to raise awareness.

A requirement by Apple will affect all new (not existing) sign-ups for all Patreon creators by November this year. This will cause a jump on Patreon costs by 30% when you sign up to be a new patron for any creator on this platform.

To thwart this asinine measure, hop on to the web and sign up to your new favourite Patreon creator there, and avoid the iOS app for such purposes.

Apple's fees forced onto app payments have always been a thing, because corporate greed is timeless.

Epic Games and Spotify have sparred with Apple over this, and this contested regulation will soon affect Patreon.

Creators WILL NOT SEE this 30% addendum from iOS app sign-ups. It goes DIRECTLY to Apple.

Patreon has given creators the option to either reflect these fees on the iOS app, or absorb them, and naturally, I will absolutely refuse to absorb the iOS tax, and you would be a damned fool to pay it.

Support your creators. Refuse to support corporate greed. SIgn-up using anything except through iOS app payments.
