Notice of Hiatus (Patreon)

Hey everyone.

I'm not doing great, and the tl;dr is that I'm going to have to hiatus the serial and pull myself together before I resume writing.  I paused billing just before writing this post, so you won't be paying for access to content that doesn't exist.  That's the important bit; I have some more details below.

Why do I need to go on hiatus?

The short answer is that I've been struggling with multiple life stressors and they've all come to a boil.  

In the past three weeks, I've been in two car accidents, gone on two emotionally exhausting trips across three time zones, started the enrollment process for graduate school, and served as the best man in a wedding, which it turns out is an insane amount of work.  The repeated disruptions to routine and constant state of jet lag messed with the measures I use to control my ADHD, and I ended up pretty burnt out.  The final straw was trying to force myself to write this week because I didn't want to miss a third week of updates.  Turns out taking that third week to recover wasn't optional.

Rather than immediately return to the grind, I'm going to regroup first and come back when my life situation is more stable.

What's the plan going forward?

This story is very important to me, and my number one priority is ensuring the hiatus is temporary.  That said, my other number one priority is preventing another burnout-related hiatus.

To avoid this happening again, when Godslayers comes back from hiatus, I plan to reduce the update rate.  This will either take the form of reducing updates to 1/week or taking a week off every month.  Possibly both.  At that time, I'll adjust the Patreon tier pricing to reflect the reduction in content.  I'll have more details for you as part of the end-of-hiatus preparation.

There will be no scheduled posts during October.  In November I'll be doing NaNoWriMo with a different project, so we're looking at December as the earliest prospective end date for the hiatus.

In the meantime, I'll still hang out in the Godslayers discord, which will be the best place to get updates.
