The film was completely shot in Mexico. Most Vietnam movies are shot in the Philippines and Thailand, because Vietnam Is still difficult to film in today, let alone less than 10 years after the war. Tri-Star was a big studio name in the 80s and 90s. It was under the Sony umbrella and eventually merged with Columbia Pictures. The plot of this movie was very topical at the time. After the US Government announced there were no more POWs in Vietnam there were a lot of upset families and military personnel that were holding out hope their friends and family were still alive and many people didn’t believe them.
