Hey folk, so this is gonna be a HELL of a poll. This is like an election level poll. But I have some questions that I've been saving up, because rather than making 3 separate posts, I wanted to get it out of the way all at once!

~~~
Personal Thank Yous
I send out personal thank yous to all new patrons. If you've recently subscribed and haven't gotten one yet, it's cuz I'm a bit behind. Most people don't respond, but those that do seem to like it.
I wanna make myself available to y'all on here -- even if you just want to talk lore or say hi or something, feel free to DM me. The personal thanks yous thing, however, does tend to eat up 1-2 hours, and is also a source of constant anxiety because I'm perpetually behind on it.
Do y'all care about this? Or, would you want me to dedicate that time to working on stuff to post on here instead, like Truffle's Day?
~~~

Rhythm of Updates

Would y'all rather have...

A) 1 longer update per week with a meaningful (story-impactful) choice at the end

or

B) 2 shorter updates per week, each with a fun choice at the end, but only each 3rd update or so with a meaningful (story-impacting) choice at the end

?

~~~
Name of the Series
The name of the series, TRUFFLE'S DAY, was something that I kinda thought of on the spot, when I thought the series would follow only Truffle and take place over the course of a day.
Now we've been multiple characters and are well into the next day. I'm considering changing the name of the series from TRUFFLE'S DAY to EDEN, which is the name of the comic this series is based on.
What's your take on this? Do you like TRUFFLE'S DAY or EDEN more?
~~~

So here it comes. The hellish poll I've warned you about. You can vote on EVERY OPTION.

Good luck my friend.

I’m sure the personal thank yous are nice but maybe they can just be put on to an image at the end of the credits of Truffle’s Day/Eden’s current storyline? “Thanks to all the Patreon members!” Followed by an image with names on. I’m sure some creepy/cute thing in the background of said image too.

Jen

I think if personal thank yous are stressing you out, maybe you can do one big thank you a week listing new followers? Or would that still be stressful? Personally I liked the thanks, but it also gave me anxiety deciding whether or not I should respond 😂 but that’s just me and my social anxiety. 🤷‍♀️

Michael Westcott

I voted 'no' on the personal thank yous, not because they are unappreciated but if they are a source of anxiety for you, it seems like something that could be let go? It is a *very* kind gesture but hard to maintain as the audience gets bigger.

I also voted on the updates but honestly, whatever works best for you. If we get some shorter updates sometimes, that’s cool. If we get a bit of a gap and then a long update, that’s cool also.

Rosenblum

I'd like to take some time to thank you too Shen, you're putting so much effort in your Patreon work and it shows ! At the end of the day, I hope it's not too stressful for you and that you still enjoy what you are doing, cause I love your work and I think all of us here do ❤️

Justine Martin

I'd like a personal thank you very much! But don't sweat it, if it's next year I won't be offended 💕 your health matters more!! Also thank you Shenpai for the content update, the insta update, the choices, blue chair, everything 💙💙💙

shencomix

i've seen other people with patreons do this, not a half bad idea! my only discomfort would be, for people that use their full names on patreon is it put their names on there? only other patrons see it anyway, but everyone has their own standards of privacy/comfort.

Jessica Cummings

I voted no on the personal thank yous. I absolutely loved getting one and it meant a lot to me. However if it's stressing you out you absolutely should stop and take that time to yourself. As the platform grows it could be like slicing off the heads of a hydra and become to big of a job to complete reasonably. :( Id much rather you be less stressed than to receive a personal thank you and welcome message.

Joy Cant

Whichever update frequency you settle on, I'd be cool. I just like seeing them 😄

rubby

Hey thanks for providing all available option ! To me I am fine with anything. Which ever easier for you. I also agree with the thank you post idea instead of one to one. It is quite time consuming as your platform gets bigger. Always remember to take care of yourself !

Merl

your mental health is important to us first and foremost. You post SO MUCH ALL THE TIME I strongly worry about burn out. I'd rather see less and see you take it easy. Exactly because I love what you do. Slow down and keep some of those posts you make to put in the back burners. You know the giving tree? That kids book about the tree that straight up murders itself to give just a little more? Yeah, that tree is not great, please dont be that tree. ♡ EDIT: If someone puts there full name on here, then they're cool with having their full name on a thank you page. They got full control over the name they post on here. You dont post any nsfw work so I wouldnt even worry about. A lot of patrons even have tiers, so only the higher up tiers get their names on the list. Cuts down on names and let's us choose if we want that. (and is an incentive to pay a lil more for the harmless bonus/flex)

Anne Mallens

This is exactly what I wanted to say!

Mr. Inconspicuous

I think the personal thank yous are a bit more um, personal but since patrons can dm you and chat it's not a huge deal either way

Mr. Inconspicuous

If you stick with the personal thank yous I'm sure nobody would mind if you take your time writing them, no-one wants to cause you stress writing by trying to send one out as soon as a new patron comes on board, but if you do away with them it'll be totally fine; we know we can am dm you and chat pretty much anytime so it's really up to whatever you decide

Laura Simonite

Totally! Loved the personal touch, was too in my own head about whether I should reply/what to say.

Virginia Greene Nature Art

I'm gonna echo what folks above have said--we love what you do, and the most important thing is that you continue to love it, too! Make whatever schedule for these things that's sustainable for you. It's possibly hard to hear that over the fretty brain-voice, but really--our primary concern is that you are well. <3 I think if part of the way you're doing things is causing you unhealthy stress, it's time to change it. (This is what I do in my business.) Love your work, and wish you the very very best!!

dee

I love the personal thank yous but if they're a source of stress don't worry about them :) it's not worth giving you something else to worry about and you could always do a master monthly thing if it ends up being a yes that would probably be a lot less stress on you and less time consuming too

L1ll1THane

I agree that the personal thank you messages might become very overwhelming with time and more patrons. I like the idea of the thank you posts and I understand your concern for the privacy/comfort of others. It could just be a thank you to the number of new patrons (to keep it more anonymous).

dee

Honestly I vote for whatever causes you the least amount of stress. If the longer updates give you more time, go for it! If the quicker easy ones do, then that one. None of us want you burning yourself out or seeing comic making as a chore rather than something you do because you enjoy it. At the end of the day, you're what's most important :)

Dan S

im an new an recent to patren Shen. you DM'd me and i was really surprised in a great way. i even wrote to you back.. i think its a wonderful personal touch you bring but if it takes too much time and stresses you out.. you can feel absolutely comfortable in stopping that.. if you feel SO bad with yourself just write to us and say that you are sorry but its taking too much on you and thats why you stop.. its super understandable Shen . dont stress yourself too much with overthinking :) we are not all easily scared and run away.

Hal 🔆

I voted no on personal thank yous because if you want to be available anyway I think it would be more meaningful if we were able to DM you and know that you'll see it eventually and maybe be able to respond. also you said you're always anxious about it so that should be a good reason not to do them as well :) luv you shen you're by far— BY FAR— my favorite content creator. I hope you're doing well in all aspects of life ♡

Hal 🔆

and to echo what everyone else is saying too, I'm super fine with either of the update schedules. it totally depends on what works best for you. but I will say that I end up not voting on some of the ones that seem really heavy and scary because I dont want to be at fault if something bad happens 😭😂 like crossing the bridge over lava where we had to roll the odds. I love this story universe though I'm so invested.

AonamiSenko

I think two small updates per week but only one major choice every three updates is pretty perfect because it give more opportunities to engage, no? And it would basically be one major update per week, just alternating days (e.g. Monday: minor, Wednesday: minor, Monday: major, Wednesday: minor, Monday: minor, Wednesday: major and so on)! Also, you don't need to force yourself to send personal thank you's when you can not find the time to do them! We all know you love and appreciate us as much as we love and appreciate you <3

Faith

If you decide to keep the personal thank you’s, I don’t think any of us would mind waiting however long it takes! Your mental health is most important

Hope Goble

Keep up the great work man! :)

Letsan

Although I didn't get the welcome message (probably wasn't a thing when I subscribed) I've always felt Shen's been available, listening to patrons' feedback and ideas, and generally active and in touch through this platform. So even if the idea of a welcome message seems attractive, I think it's better putting that time into other things (hopefully not something that adds more anxiety for yourself). :)

Kindle Santos

I mean; I was super excited when I read my personal thank you, so I don’t know if I could deny other people that awesomeness… but I definitely don’t want to add to your stress either…

Erica

I think the whole thing is entertaining so it's not really important to me what changes. I do think it will be nice to focus on whatever yields a more fun story though. The interactivity is kinda the fun part!

BlushLime

Looking forward to the way the votes are playing out, i think EDEN holds a lot of impact, especially if it's stylized all caps like that

ajwock

Even though I’d still be in line to receive the thank you, I wouldn’t mind getting rid of it. I personally don’t like writing thank you notes for hours, and that’s what I imagine that’d be like.

Paperhat

With how the comics gone up to this point, we wouldn't be surprised if the name change was presented as a change in-universe instead of just on a meta level

Bryan Cash

I’m kind of mixed minds on the personal thanks. It sounds like a lot of effort and anxiety! However, I will say the one I got when i first signed up made me feel all nice and cozy inside, and much more inclined to stay a subscriber.

BlushLime

Yeah this is basically how I feel too

A Socialist Hobgoblin

As always, do what makes you comfortable. Don't want to make this any more difficult than it already is.

Catriona Wright

I honestly assumed the personal thank yous were automated messages, so I'm sorry for not appreciating those properly. I don't think personal thank yous are necessary and I never expect them. Maybe only send them to patrons over a certain pledge amount or just take a break from them for a while. I'm a big fan of longer posts with bigger choices at the end, but I've been enjoying everything so far.

Draggan

Same! I just went back to my messages to reply — only to find that I already had. ☺️ (Thanks for the warm and fuzzies, Shen.)

Cecilia Deng

Thanks for being so funny and scary

Wizerl

Personal thank you is really kind and something unexpected, but when numbers grows into thousands it is really time consuming, so better not stress about it, especially if not everyone responds. It's better for others to write to you instead if they want or have any questions. For me it was really nice surprise but wouldn't mind if you didn't either due to respect to your time you need for that. Short updates seems nice if it won't be overwhelming as you already post on different platforms. We won't survive long if every strip will be so meaningful. Eden seems cool if it won't collide with original comic since as you say, we no longer go just as Truffle.
