End of Royal Road Writathon 2024 and Plans Going Forward (Patreon)

Hello all!

The Royal Road Writathon has just ended, and I am happy to say it was the kick in the pants that I needed to build and commit to a writing schedule for Dreadborne Harbinger: Ascension of the Black Sword (An Epic Fantasy Gamelit/LitRPG). All told, I ended up writing 60,000+ words over the duration of the Writathon, bringing my story to about 120,000 words. So, what is the plan going forward? I'm glad you asked.

1. Let the Writing Continue!

I am going to continue the writing momentum I've built to this point. I'd love to get to the point of a chapter each weekday, but with my work schedule, that might lead to burnout (which I do not want), so for right now, the plan is three chapters on Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and occasionally a chapter on the weekend when I have extra time. That being said I have a two-week break from work coming up for Christmas break, so I am planning to be done with Book One around that point, if everything proceeds as I plan.

2. This is Only the Beginning!

Once Book One is done, I will be immediately heading into Book Two (hint: Summer Vacation), which I have already put together a rough outline for. It should be even more exciting than Book One in some ways, and it will set up some components of the greater plot going forward. That being said, I have a rough outline for subsequent books covering the Imperial Academy Arc, but these will likely need slight modifications as the story progresses. Such is life.

3. Exclusives for Patreon!

For this past month and change, I made all the chapters I wrote for Dreadborne Harbinger public, as I did not feel it was right to paywall them while posting them for the public on Royal Road for the Writathon. With the Writathon now completed, I will gradually be building back up to 10+ exclusive chapters on Patreon for paying supporters. In addition, for those excited by worldbuilding, I will also be writing the occasional article on things that are referenced (or related to) the plot as it progresses.

For those that pledge $5+ a month, you will be able to read up on things like historical events, characters or races, and even the deeper structure/background of things at the Imperial Academy. These will stay exclusive to Patreon.

For those that pledge $10+ a month, you will also gain access to various short stories on secondary characters as I write them. The point of these is not only to explore these characters but also events or regions not getting as much attention in the main story but nonetheless are relevant to what will be unfolding for Klarion in his chapters. These will stay exclusive to Patreon as well.

With all that being said, that is where things currently stand for Klarion and Dreadborne Harbinger for the immediate future. I hope you all continue to enjoy the story as much as I enjoy writing it!
